Really, really hope that the bullpen isn't the same mess it was last year for the Giants.

Madison Bumgarner is a beast.

The Reds opening day starter is Scott Feldman.

Yeah, it's going to be that kind of year.

I didn't pay enough attention during spring training. Apparently Strasburg is pitching exclusively out of the stretch this year as part of his plan to try and stay healthy.

Bryce Harper has appeared in 5 opening day games. He has 5 opening day HRs. Adam Lind has 1 swing of the bat with the Nationals, it's a 2 run PH HR that won the game. Strasburg was still hitting 96-98 in the 7th inning on only 85 pitches, day 1 of pitching exclusively from the stretch was a success.

Rougned Odor is earning his new mega-contract. Two ABs, two home runs. One HR for each of the horses specified in his new contract.

Which is kind of like how two minor things prevented me from being a great basketball player: the inability to shoot & the lack of any relevant physical/athletic gifts.

You're welcome.

I still remember Rick Camp getting a new tractor in a contract so this didn't even cause me to bat an eyelash.

Are people still doing that stupid Woo'ing at stadiums? The fans at Miller Park are making the telecast unbearable. As much as I rag on the 'Cardinals Way', there's no way in fuck you'd hear that ridiculousness at Busch.

Not that the Twins staff is much better but atleast they are out there trying. Looks like San Diego just hit the waiver wire and waited out free agency to get their pitching staff for the season. Weaver is throwing all of 83 mph these days.

He nearly did die a few years back, from a previous stroke.
I imagine that's probably the source of the confusion.

So 40% of the rotation are failed middle relievers from the 2016 Cubs ... not great!

So apparently that crying Rangers fan which has been making the rounds over the internet may have been Sam Dyson's girlfriend. Which makes a lot of sense, because blowing a save with a grand slam is the type of thing that may lose her boyfriend his job.

The Rangers' Dyson is more like the vacuum cleaner than a relief pitcher. Has been horrible so far this season.

I'm still skeptical of the price paid to get "Vertically Hilarious" Adam Eaton and play him in CF, but he's making about as good a debut with a new team as you can.

Damn. Growing up on that side of DCburbia, I had the privilege of being in that park many times, including both the record tying and record breaking games for Cal. Still a great ballpark and it was largely responsible for the move away from the boring cookie cutters of the 70s.

I still have no idea how Jayson Werth's swing actually works at the major league level.

I have always kinda thought he controls wind currents around the plate with his beard, thus moving the ball.within range of his bat.

Probably why he is so streaky. Not much consistency in that type of swing. Must be good at guessing pitches to have as much success as he has had.

What I don't get is why the umps didn't immediately check the pitcher, the catcher and/or the ball for foreign substances. And why the Cubs didn't raise a stink about it.

Definitely a weird situation that just sorta blew over. Ultimately it led to this and taking 2 of 3 from the Cardinals, so I'm good with it

Ah, baseball season. My favorite time of the year. The Cards were up to something fishy last night. Of course I'm a Cubs fan so I always think the Cards are up to something, but they definately didnt help their own cause with the ball sticking to the damn chest protector.

A 12 run 1st inning, that sort of makes the rest of the game a formality. Any game pounding the Nationals is a good game.

Are there any websites that replicate the traditional newspaper agate by providing all box scores on a single page? Obviously many websites have scores, but so far as I can tell they all require additional clicks to see the box scores, and even then you can only look at one at a time.
