In one of those "I've never seen that before" moments that baseball gives us, the Nationals have five of six hitters hit home runs in one inning.

And the inning isn't over yet.

Dola, Michael Blazek records seven total outs, while yielding six home runs before he is pulled.

The Nats offense this year is pretty amazing when you consider they're missing Turner, Eaton, Werth, and Taylor.

Now to see if the bullpen has improved enough to hold a 14 run lead for 3 innings.

Same old Dusty Baker, they are up 15-1 and somehow he still lets Scherzer throw 109 pitches.

He's about 8 beers short of a 6 pack when it comes to strategy. DUHsty is example #1 to me that anyone can win regular season games with a good roster, but bad managers lose games when it matters.

Saw this at Reds Minor Leagues. This all happened in one half an inning between the Dominican Summer League Yankees and Phillies

There were two errors in the inning.
Two batters were hit by a pitch.
There were 12 walks. TWELVE.
It took four pitchers to get through the inning.
There were three singles in the inning.
There were three triples in the inning.
19 runs scored on just six hits.

Would the Red Sox be the AL favorite if they had kept Travis Shaw?

Also, am I the only one who thinks a Sonny Gray to Milwaukee for 2-3 good prospects, with the Brewers possibly throwing in Garza and picking up most of the rest of his salary this year makes sense? A 1-4 rotation of Gray, Davies, Nelson, and Suter looks pretty good and is young with at least 2 more years of control for each of them. Say Arcia or Dubon, Luis Ortiz and Garza with a big chunk of the contract eaten up.

That reminds me of those old SAT questions and I'm now supposed to answer a series of questions about it using logic and problem solving.

Mets tradedfor AJ Ramos. Not sure about that one.

Edit: Didn't give up anything great, but knowing the Mets history with prospect trades, these guys will turn out to be the second coming.

Nats pick up Howie Kendrick for a guy I haven't even heard of in their organization. I'm not sure what yet another bat does for the Nats, but I guess it can't hurt.

The Nats deserved to lose game 1 today against the Rockies, but once again there's no reason to have a review system if the special needs chimps in NY can't get obvious calls right. Trevor Story's foot was a good 4-6 inches off of 2B and they still didn't overturn the clearly wrong call on the field. The Rockies even stayed on the field for the challenge because they knew it wasn't an out.

Was it on a force play or double play turn? On double play attempts the imaginary base still applies to protect the safety of the players(MLB excuse). If it was a strict force out play that sounds awful.

It's a double play turn, but Rendon was a good 5-6 feet away from the bag. The official ruling was that it was inconclusive.

I went back in the archives and took a look. Completely agree with you, terrible call. No runner was in his path and he was clearly off the base and they had a good angle.

Mets are sending Addison Reed to Boston for three pitching prospects.

I hope you guys like him. He's really the only bullpen guy I have universally appreciated in years. Guy is no nonsense, just shows up, grabs the ball, is really damn effective, and casually strolls off the mound while flipping up the bill of his hat.

I have to hand it to Brian Cashman. The way he's transformed the Yankees over the last 18 months is incredible. They are young, with more prospects coming, and may be the second best team in the AL. This offseason they should have a bundle of money to add to the starting pitching which may set them up for the next five years or more.

Yeah the Yankees farm system is stacked. They gave up some good guys for Gray but Kaprelian has had injury issues, Fowler is currently Moonlight Graham, and Mateo is kind of a wild card.

For anyone that hates the Yankees, the silver-lining is Sonny Gray is an arm injury waiting to happen.

Tiny guy with the inverted W and 3 DL stints for trap, forearm, and lat since the beginning of last season. He may make it through this year, but the long term isn't good.

I'm very happy the Brewers didn't make any big moves for this season. A lot were clamoring for Sonny Gray, but I just don't like the idea of digging into the farm system when the team isn't there yet.

On another note, I think it is fair to say the Brewers came out pretty well in last year's Jonathan LuCroy trade.

The Dodgers most impressive win streak comes to an end. I think the final tally was 52 straight wins where they led at any point. Essentially if they had a lead in the game at any point, they won the game. I believe it was an MLB record by like 20 games

Is there anything more Mets than walking in the winning run because the reliever can't feel his fingers due to how badly he pinched his nuts after an awkward follow through?

LA has the best 50 game record since 1912.

Dear baby jesus, please let this team go all the way this year. This kind of run only to have it taken away at the end would be the most cruel kind of treatment.

LA's pitching tonight allows 1 hit, strikes out 13 Mets. Another series sweep. Outscored the Mets 21-4.

Outscored the Mets 57-15 over all 7 games in a season sweep.

Scherzer throws 114 pitches tonight. According to the Nats announcers, he's on pace to throw 400 more pitches than anyone in MLB this season. DUHsty is going to wear him out way before it matters and destroy any chance that the last few years of his contract aren't horrible for the team.

Kind of like the Mariners winning a record 116 games in 2001 only to lose to the fucking Yankees in the post-season and not even make the World Series?

And the 1906 Cubs losing the World Series. Or the 1954 Indians winning 111 and being swept in the World Series.

The top 11 seasons in history have resulted in 7 World Series champions, with 3 of the top 4 not winning it.

Joe West suspended for 3 games for comments about Adrian Beltre

If this is all it takes to get them suspended, then please interview Joe West, CB Bucknor, and Angel Hernandez often.

These are obviously related. Dusty is angry at Max for clogging the bases, and will make sure his arms are too tired to swing the bat ever again.

Fun MLB Oddity: the San Francisco Giants are required to keep the same terms of Pablo Sandoval's contract, even though the Red Sox are on the hook for the cost. Which means that Pablo has a no-trade clause that includes...the San Francisco Giants.

Agreed. It's clear he was just joking around.

I do understand the league not wanting umpires saying that stuff because it could lead fans to think they are bias. But a warning should suffice.

Wilson Contreras goes down with an injury (pulled hamstring). Huge blow to the Cubs. Not sure why he was playing everyday. Joe Maddon has been pretty bad this year. That World Series really messed him up.
