Anyone notice a change in the game engine?

Is Hattrick starting to shy away from midfield ratings and factor in all ratings?

Case in point, look here:

Panther City FC
Player rating and Team formation
Midfield: divine
Right Side Defence: world class
Central Defence: magnificent
Left Side Defence: magnificent
Right Side Attack: solid
Central Attack: formidable
Left Side Attack: formidable

Red Star Belgrade
Player rating and Team formation
Midfield: world class
Right Side Defence: titanic
Central Defence: titanic
Left Side Defence: mythical
Right Side Attack: formidable
Central Attack: titanic
Left Side Attack: excellent

You would think Panther City FC would win easily right? Thats a difference of at least 7 midfield ratings, possibly more? Well RSB won 3-1 (im guessing he PICed).

I think the game engine has been changed some. If so, they should announce it.

Billy once explained that at higher levels, levels of midfield don't matter so much, as a 7-level difference there is still only ~3-2 advantage, whereas on a lower level it could be like a 3-1 advantage. Also, there are always unexplainable games with many events for one team and none for the other, so taking one game to indicate a broad change seems premature.

a 65 NSI just tied a 50 NSI in my league. the 50 had crappy D decent middies and two 3.5 star forwards. The 65 had 2.5 and 3 star forwards an awesome middfield and 3 star defenders.

Downeasterners FC
Player rating and Team formation
Midfield: inadequate
Right Side Defence: solid
Central Defence: excellent
Left Side Defence: inadequate
Right Side Attack: excellent

I lost 2 - 3. Then the very next week...

Right Side Defence: excellent
Central Defence: formidable
Left Side Defence: outstanding
Right Side Attack: weak

Left Side Attack: excellent

Another 3 - 2 loss. Or you could even go back to season 15 to my very first loss. 2 - 0:

Aeslehc
Player rating and Team formation
Midfield: wretched
Right Side Defence: passable
Central Defence: solid
Left Side Defence: passable
Right Side Attack: inadequate

Left Side Attack: outstanding

Airborne Penguins
Player rating and Team formation
Midfield: inadequate
Right Side Defence: passable
Central Defence: passable
Left Side Defence: inadequate
Right Side Attack: excellent
Central Attack: inadequate
Left Side Attack: passable

I don't think there has been any change

Yeah... as TP pointed out there has always been matches where one team dominates midfield and still loses. The more people that play the game, the more examples of it we see. It may also seem like it happens more because people won't complain when they lose after they get killed in midfield as much as the other way around...

As the saying goes, sh*t happens. Too bad it doesn't happen to the Swedish national team.

I had the opposite happen this week to me...
He had 55/58%

but I had him beat everywhere else and he won 5-1.

I've had it where I've dominated posession (handily) and lost.
I've had it where I've dominated the midfield (by 2 levels) and lost.

However, this hasn't happened yet THIS season (knock on wood). Maybe this is due in part to some of the "tinkering" they did to reduce the effectiveness of the 3-5-2?

They haven't done any tinkering... yet. I'm pretty sure if they were going to make changes to the match engine they would tell us. They always have before...
