Lawrence Taylor, Hall of Fame linebacker, arrested for rape - ESPN New York

Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor was arrested early Thursday after being accused of rape at a hotel in Montebello, N.Y., police said.
Authorities in Ramapo, N.Y., have not released details in their investigation of Taylor, saying only that the incident allegedly occurred in the Holidome Hotel.
According to a press release, additional information will be provided at a news conference Thursday afternoon.
Taylor, who starred for the New York Giants for 13 seasons, was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1999. He has battled drug addiction and last November was charged in Florida with leaving the scene of an accident.

Police in New York arrested former Giants LB Lawrence Taylor and accused him of raping a 15-year-old girl on Thursday.
Taylor was held after being arrested by Ramapo, N.Y., police and charged with third-degree rape.
The allegations stemmed from an incident at the Holiday Inn in Suffern, N.Y., Ramapo Detective Lt. Brad Weidel told the Journal News.
Ramapo police supervisor Christopher St. Lawrence told the Journal News that the victim was a runaway from the Bronx and that she had been assaulted.
"She was a runaway since March and there was a pimp involved," St. Lawrence told the paper. "She got punched in the face. We're not sure who did it."
Police expect to hold a news conference on Thursday afternoon to provide more details.
Taylor is a Hall of Famer whose most recent run-in with the law was an arrest in Florida in November after a traffic accident.
He was honored during the NFL draft last month. The NFL named him its 10th most valuable draft pick of the previous 75 years.
Taylor battled substance abuse problems for many years. In 1987, he titled his autobiography "Living on the Edge." In 2004, he published another autobiography titled "Over the Edge: Tackling Quarterbacks, Drugs and a World Beyond Football." -- Sean Leahy

No, if you listened to the ESPN expert, Taylor faces a MAXIMUM of a three year sentence, and there is no minimum. So, even if he is found guilty on all 4 charges he may not have to serve a single day in prison.

Lawrence Taylor Jr. arrested on statutory rape charges

Lawrence Julius Taylor Jr., the 31-year-old son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor, has been arrested in Georgia on felony criminal charges of statutory rape, aggravated child molestation and aggravated sodomy in connection with alleged sexual assaults on two juvenile females, according to police.

The arrest/booking report on the website of the Cobb County Sheriff's Office says Taylor Jr. was arrested Sunday by police in Power Springs, Ga. He was being held without bond in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center in Marietta, Ga.

In a statement, the Power Springs Police Department said detectives interviewed the two females who made the allegations.

"One juvenile alleged that a sexual assault occurred on (July 6) at Taylor's Power Springs residence. Another juvenile alleged consensual sexual contact with Taylor in early 2012," said the police statement.

In January of 2011, the father (also named Lawrence Julius Taylor) pleaded guilty in New York to sexual misconduct and patronizing a 16-year-old prostitute. The misdemeanor charges carried no jail time, but Taylor was sentenced to six years' probation and required to register as a sex offender.

Before the plea deal, Taylor had pleaded not guilty to third-degree rape, patronizing a prostitute, sexual abuse and endangering a child. Taylor had been arrested in May of 2010 for allegedly paying $300 to have sex with a 16-year-old girl at a hotel in suburban New York City. At the time of his plea deal, Taylor said in court the alleged victim told him she was 19.
