Questions about FOWL

I've been reading Sef0r's Dynasty thread, and find this league very interesting. As I play along from the sidelines, I wonder how the Regular Season sim works. Do you run it week by week, manually fixing team's roster/depth chart each week as players take on major injuries? If not, how does that work?

Also, is the Team/Owner list correct, in that there are currently 4 non Human controlled teams available (Denver, Minnesota, New Jersey, and St Louis)?

I apologize if it is written somewhere on the FOWL site and I just missed it.

Thanks!

Injuries are turned off, so the entire regular season is simmed at once.

As for available teams, contact Tasan, he knows who is and is not available right now. I think Minnesota has an active owner, but there probably are a handful of teams that are still available.

Welcome Groo, I hope you can give it a try when you are ready. Alan has answered the question but I thought I would just welcome you.

If you were to join for this season I wouldn't worry too much about missing out on players. Majority of players sign in the last stages of FA2 which is simmed on Monday. So you could take over a team, look at the remaining players in FA and come in and outbig everyone else with your $160+ mil

I'm new to MP in general (I am in my first season in my first MP league). I just want to watch the league this week, and once I find which teams are available, I will likely choose a team next week. That will allow me time to prepare to play at the breakneck pace, as well as to better understand the FA contracts in this league.

Overall, reading your dynasty thread, Sef0r, has been very enlightening and has helped me understand the league and really piqued my interest.

I would add that if you are new to MP, then FOWL is a great way to get your feet wet. You will learn quickly about dev and proper player valuation. You will also get a good feel for what is important for gameplanning success versus what could be considered de minimis.

Good points Subby, this was my first online league after just playing the game with my friends and the pace of the league is great for beginners. It can be a little overwhelming but it's good to hear that C4's thread got you interested I think it'd provide invaluable insight into how to run a team in this format.

Hope to see you soon Groo, may I suggest that you pick a team in the AFC as right now there is less competition and you could make a more immediate impact. Might I also strongly suggest that you not take the Cleveland Browns, for your own sanity.

Probable newb question here... How does game planning work when you sim all 17 games in one sitting? Can I turn off the reset gameplan global option? Example?

You set a game plan once. You use it the entire season. The global reset game plan setting only matters on the commish machine, and it's turned off there.
