I saw this about a month ago, and I swear I thought of the Krispy Kreme burger thread.

I wonder if the "thick cut" bacon is for a reason like it helps hold it together...or if it's just cause, you know, it's more bacon than regular cut bacon.

Looks good in theory, but I don't know, that's an awful lot of fatty meat. I love meat, but I'm not sure I would enjoy this.

Only question is this: Can it be done, and taste good, without a smoker? I have a grill, a gas one, and an oven broiler.

Toss some wood chips on your grill and I imagine you would be good to go. Personally, I would go with mesquite over hickory...

Looks good. I wonder how easy it would be to lean it out some.. maybe use venison sausage and instead of the extra bacon, maybe onion/pepper mix or something.
Granted, still would love to try this as is.

In the first response, I said I had seen the bacon sausage thing before...I was just remembering the weave. THIS is what I saw, and cheese is definitely better. |

Oh. Oh my. Yeah, this beats the sausage in my book. I don't even care about the ways you can read that last line. I may have to make this after hockey on Sunday.

Why is there a debate between sausage OR cheese?
Methinks the optimum solution would be sausage AND cheese.

Yeah I'm thinking I'm gonna throw some extra sharp cheddar in the middle with all the crunched up bacon.
And for the 5000 calories and 500g of fat, I'm not gonna eat the whole dang thing myself. Maybe half.

Bought all the ingredients yesterday for this heart attack. It'll be going on the grill sometime Sunday afternoon. Someone warn the paramedics.

Got a way to improve this bad boy. As soon as it's done cooking, cover that sucker in breading and deep fry it!

To elaborate, this was real good. I don't care for Italian sausage so we used a mild pork sausage. I forgot to put the cheese in as well. The cooking went OK considering I don't have a proper smoker. We made some can buttermilk biscuits, sliced the "loaf" and served it on the biscuits sprinkled with sharp cheddar cheese. This thing is great. The outside bacon gets all smoky and crispy just on the edges, and the sausage cooks up solid, with the bbq sauce and bacon layer inside breaking it up some. Just YUM.

Tasan, I'm delighted to hear you made this. Out of curiosity, can you tell us approximately how many bacon roll consumers perished?

Well, if anyone goes it'll be me. I had five slices. Five.
Next closest was my wife, who only had 3. I think my oldest son matched that.

CU Tiger, that is GENIUS!
I told my wife and she said this: "Make it with ground beef and the bacon, put cheese in it and serve it on hamburger buns. Instant BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger." I love my wife!

So many recipes, so little time. I present, The Bacone. Bacon fried into an ice cream cone shape, then filled with eggs, hash browns, country gravy, and a biscuit on top.
