Fight at the Mudbugs Game!

So my 9-year old goes to a Shreveport Mudbugs hockey game last week with some of his friends for a b-day party.

When he comes home I ask,, "How was the game?"

He says, "It was great, there was a big fight!"

"Oh really? Who won?"

"The ref..."

Hey Dutch,

I went to a Mudbugs game on 12/30 when I was in Shreveport for the Mizzou bowl game against Arkansas. All I can say is:

GOALIE! SIEVE! GOALIE! SIEVE!

to this day, we are still doing that chant. We had an awesome time at that game and in Shreveport. If only the Tigers had won.....

So that's what they are saying! Thanks man, me and my wife have wondered about that for weeks now. They have another one the crowd likes to say but I couldn't figure that one out either. We are still new to Shreveport and CHL hockey for that matter.

We went to see the Indianapolis Ice a couple weeks ago. Down 3-1 with 4 minutes to go, the Mudbugs came back, tied it up, and went all the way to the shootout. The last guy on the Mudbugs bench to shoot scored the winning goal. It was a lot of fun.

I remember the crowd chanting:

IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT! IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT! IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!
--after the game had restarted following the goal

I also heard this:
PA ANNOUNCER: The [insert visiting team]'s player comes out of the penalty box, meaning the [visiting team] is back at full strength
CROWD RESPONSE: AND THEY STILL SUCK!

great crowd

Went to Sunday Nights game against Memphis.

Besides those mentioned, we all were chanting, "He shoots! He scores! And YOU STILL SUCK!" while pointing at the Memphis goalie after a mudbugs score. (that was then followed by "Goalie<--->Sieve")

When I worked at the Forum in Los Angeles, the Kings fans were hard-core. It was the only sport I ever saw Los Angelino's get heated about. They would yell and scream at the opposition, their own guys (when they weren't playing well), the fans, and of course the Forum staff.

But going to CHL games and watching hockey at this level is awesome. The fans have a great time. It's slowly turning me into a hockey fan. Rooting for players named Wildfong and Lightfoot that will never make it anywhere but in the CHL! Who knew?

Of course, the 'Bugs blew a 4-1 lead in the 3rd period and eventually lost in the shootout. My youngest son has been to 2 games now, and they have both been shootouts, he thinks games are supposed to end like that, everytime!

They have a guy, I can't remember his name, but he's #32, and he was fast. He would break up the Mudbugs defensemen while they were just trying to bring the puck up the ice. They couldn't get anything past our goalie until he fell asleep in the 3rd. Memphis has cool uniforms.

But the Mudbugs want the title this year, I wonder how good they are compared to other division champs? Guess we're about to find out.

Don Parsons probably. He should be playing in the IHL but chose to stay in the CHL. The Kings are actually located in Southaven, MS which is my home town.

If that's true, I'd leave it alone, it's the only joke he's ever gotten right!

Looks like Laredo might end that this year, although i hate the and hope someone stops them. the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees are out team down here, in thier 1st year, and when they played Laredo at home for the first time they had a bunc of fans come down, and they kicked the Bees' asses. So yeah, i hate them.

And isn't the Memphis Kings actually turtles? I saw a schedule for them in a West Memphis truckstop and it had a turtle on it.

I'm not a hockey fan really by any means, but probably the most fun at live sporting events I've had was when I used to go to the Wichita Thunder games when I lived there. Great times.

Can't watch a game on TV to save my life though.
