MLM Help
So my roommates parents are pushing her into this:
Numis Network it is clearly and admittedly Multi Level Marketing and I have no interest in doing it but Id like to be able to give her an opinion or my reasoning for not wanting to do it without kicking her or her parents. Any advice after looking at this "awesome opportunity to build wealth" would be greatly appreciated. Jeez, their comp plan on the site requires a PHD to figure out. ugh, and coins no less. Quote:

Hard not to kick anyone who would get involved in this ... so sayeth the guy who is being pestered by a long time friend about an MLM scheme involving natural gas service.
No help from me I'm afraid, but I can sort of commiserate.

Speaking as someone who has had many friends and relatives fall for just about every type of pyramid or ponzi scheme there is, save your breath. Once the hook is in them, they never wiggle off. All you can do is try to convince them not to bet the farm on it.

I agree with flounder. Once they've been told about all the millions they'll make for minimal amounts of work, reason is thrown out the door.

Anything that complicated in terms of payout is done so as to confuse you. Anything legit should be more transparent and easier to understand than that.
The only things MLMs care about is extra bodies to feed the ponzi. |

ahhh, perhaps if I explain to her that it looks like a Ponzi scheme to me, which it does, it'll sink in.

yeah - i suppose you can try that approach Flasch. Combined with darkenigma's point about how it's complicated payout is a way to confuse you.

I still don't understand the "binary organization chart" although yes - the compensation scheme seems clearly "ponzi" and i think she ought to be able to see that "look you only get paid based on recruiting other people in...obviously you're just getting paid with the fees they pay for "training."
Also, FWIW - I don't know a single person who collects coins, or thinks that coin collecting is "cool" so this isn't even a lucrative market for an actual business.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but their only 2 products are proof coins you can buy directly from the US and Austrian mints for a fraction of the cost of this site? This doesn't pass the smell test.

I don't know what a BV is, but if they're only paying you on your weak leg, this means that at least half of the sales made by people under you aren't even counting. So if you've got one person under you, you're not getting anything, and if you have two people under you, you're only getting commission from the one who sells the least. |

It should not be a social taboo to call someone a frickin moron if they are intending to 'invest' in a pyramid scheme. The chart alone should be enough to convince anyone (it even looks pyramid shaped... come on they could at least have made a network graph so its less obvious!).

I couldn't help but think of the Office episode when Michael is trying to explain on a chart how his new venture isn't actually a pyramid scheme, and Jim grabs the marker from him and draws a big triangle around it. |

You are probably paid with the coins you are selling.

Yeah nuismatic coin collectors are few and far between..certainly not something Joe and Sally Smith do. Its one thing to enter a ponzi that sells a somewhat feasible product, another to enter one that sells a super-nichey product.
For those who don't know, a nusimatic coin basically has two types of value: an intrinsic value (based on the amount of gold or silver in the coin) and a value associated with the rareness of the coin. |

Damn, I was going to touch on this very subject. Oh well, at least I am not the only one to see it. Remove all of the words from that huge paragraph of nonsense, and you have a pyramid. |
