Brendan Miller Gets Hit Number 2500
Sunday, April 3rd, 2101: What a day for Brendan Miller. The 39-year-old Baltimore right fielder reached the 2500-hit mark today and the Charm whipped the Halifax Winter Wolves 3-2.

Miller told reporters, "It's good to finally get it. The closer you get to 2500, the harder it is to get there. Now the pressure is off and I can go back to just playing ball."

He went 1 for 1 in the game to reach the milestone.

Miller boasts a career batting average of .286 with 2500 hits, 370 homers and 1536 RBIs.

Blankenship Swats #300
Saturday, April 9th, 2101: The crowd roared -- they knew they were seeing history -- and Joe Blankenship was delighted, too: The 33-year-old Hooligans first baseman was making history with his 300th career homer. The crowd buzzed and roared again when Blankenship stuck his head out of the dugout for a curtain call.

"Never, as a kid, did I ever think I'd hit even one," he told BNN after hitting No. 300 in a 11-6 victory over Colorado. Blankenship went 1-5 in the game, had 4 RBI, and scored 1 run.

His all-time numbers show Blankenship is carrying a .261 career batting average with 300 home runs and 1068 RBIs.

April's Best Hurler in RL Is Peña
Sunday, May 1st, 2101: Emílio Peña has been around the league long enough to know that relievers are often overlooked. That has never stopped him from doing what he does best -- and he did it extremely well in April and stole away with the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award.

The Winged Lingerines bullpen ace collected 6 saves and 9 strikeouts in 14.1 innings, holding the opposition to a .259 average and posting a 1.26 ERA and a 3-2 record.

Assassins Starter Wins CL Pitching Award
Sunday, May 1st, 2101: Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Pedro Santvario still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in April. The 33-year-old starter for Apex was named Continental League Pitcher of the Month earlier today.

He collected 5 wins and no losses with 37 strikeouts in his 5 starts, putting up a fine 1.15 ERA in 39 innings of work.

Adams Wins RL Top Pitcher Award
Friday, July 1st, 2101: Capping off a whirlwind month in which he went 5-0 with a 1.06 ERA, Greg Adams was selected as June's Republic League Pitcher of the Month today. Reporters caught up with the elated Chico starter as he left the clubhouse.

"I know it's difficult for pitchers -- when you have a bad start or two, people start wondering if you've lost it. Then you ride stretches like this one for all you can. You find it easier to come to the park every day because know you're contributing to the club, not just waiting for your turn in the rotation to make up for your last start."

Greg Adams definitely contributed to the club. He had 6 starts, throwing 42.1 innings, striking out 38, and holding the opposition to a .188 average.

This season-to-date, Adams has fashioned a 8-4 mark and 3.49 ERA in 111 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .230 against him and he has logged 90 strikeouts.

Villa Picked as June's Pitcher of the Month
Friday, July 1st, 2101: When the Winter Wolves skipper wrote Villa on the lineup card, it was a bad omen for the opposition. Outing after outing in June he took command and usually got the win.

He dominated with a 5-2 mark and 2.98 ERA in 7 starts. The gifted Winter Wolves star pitched 42.1 innings, fanned 41 and held opposing teams to a .231 average.

For his excellent mound work Villa was named the CL Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers.

So far this year Villa has a 13-3 record with a 2.49 ERA.

RL Presents Batter of Month Trophy to Ornelas
Friday, July 1st, 2101: To survive in the bigs, you've got to be a scrapper like Orlando Ornelas. It never pays to take a day off from the batting cages or to shrug off the advice of the hitting coach. It all paid off today as Hartford's right fielder pinned down the Republic League Batter of the Month trophy today.

He hit .393 in June collecting 6 home runs, 22 RBIs and 15 runs scored.

So far this season Ornelas has gotten 90 hits in 278 at-bats for a .324 batting average with 16 home runs. His stats include 56 RBIs and 49 runs scored. He has played in 75 games.

Friday, July 1st, 2101: June's Continental League Batter of the Month trophy was claimed by third baseman Eisuke Shimizu of the Noblesville Millers.

Last month he compiled a .392 batting average with 10 home runs, 34 RBIs, 29 runs scored and a .455 on-base percentage.

This season in 78 games, Shimizu has hit at a .344 clip with 106 hits, 18 home runs, 78 RBIs and 69 runs scored.

Friday, July 1st, 2101: Víctor Luna earned June's Rookie of the Month honors in the Continental League for last month's performance. The boyish Noblesville right fielder might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Thus far this year Luna has hit .341 with 15 home runs and 50 RBIs.

Cardenas Beats Charm 11-6 for 200th Win
Thursday, August 4th, 2101: What would you do after you had just won your 200th game? Run around Charm Ballpark doing cartwheels, jumping for joy and waving to the crowd? Well, maybe you and I would do that, but not Miguel Cardenas -- that's not his way.

After he notched number 200, the 37-year-old Apex hurler spoke to the press like he always has -- in a soft, quiet voice. He wasn't doing any cartwheels or even anything resembling a jump for joy. "Obviously it feels very good," Cardenas commented. "To win this many games, you've got to have a lot of help."

Cardenas got his milestone victory by beating the Baltimore Charm 11-6. He held them to 11 hits in 7 innings and rung up 7 strikeouts with 3 walks.

After sharing his thoughts with the press, he went to the clubhouse. There he was greeted by the guys who had helped him get #200. His teammates showered him with champagne and then gave him a rousing round of applause. That got to him -- for the first time today, Cardenas's face broke into a big smile.

Cardenas has collected 200 wins and 180 losses over his career with a 3.76 ERA. The 37-year-old hurler also has struck out 3109 batters in 3590.1 innings and allowed 3426 hits.

Fielding August's Best Hurler in RL
Thursday, September 1st, 2101: The Colorado Rancheros felt very secure when they sent Cam Fielding out to the hill last month. The 27-year-old starter went after Republic League hitters with a vengeance and earned August's Pitcher of the Month award.

He went 4-1 with a 1.74 ERA as he struck out 44 in 41.1 innings over 6 starts.

So far in 26 appearances this season, Fielding has recorded 12 wins and sustained 6 losses. He has pitched 163.1 innings, yielded 168 hits, fanned 166 and has a 3.91 ERA.

CL's Top Starter is Villa
Thursday, September 1st, 2101: Alfredo Villa was on top of the world in August, capping it off with the Continental League Pitcher of the Month honors.

The Halifax starter was superb in 7 starts with 5 wins and 1 loss, 45 innings pitched, 24 strikeouts and a fine 1.00 ERA.

Currently Villa has a 21-4 won-lost record in 33 starts with a 2.34 ERA. He also has 145 strikeouts in 200 innings.

Republic League Selects August's Best Batter

August's Best Batter Announced

Thursday, September 1st, 2101: Greg Nelson of the Cyclones hit .462 in August with 4 home runs, 19 RBIs and 23 runs scored to capture a majority of votes for the Continental League Batter of the Month trophy.

The 38-year-old is in the last year of his contract and will undoubtedly use these numbers to try and bring in a huge pay raise.

This year Nelson is hitting .307 with 18 home runs and 76 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .388 clip and scored 72 runs.

Wednesday, September 7th, 2101: The Colorado Rancheros defeated the Toronto Marlboros 9-0 yesterday in a game that featured Joseph Denton's 300th career home run.

In the clubhouse, the Rancheros center fielder spoke about the milestone achievement. "To be honest, I don't even remember my first home run," he said. "But this one I don't think I'll forget. Who knows if I'll hit another hundred, or fifty, or even ten?"

On his historic day, Denton banged out 1 hit in 5 at-bats and scored 1 run with 1 RBI.

Denton has a lifetime .305 batting average and .369 on-base percentage in his 1595-game career with 1935 hits and 300 home runs.

I'm having one of those days where everything makes me want to cry (do men even have those?) and not even FOOL seems to be helping. Good night friends and good luck to you who are contending. Congratulations in advance to the winners!

Well it's good to know there's a meaningful equivalent.

Brunswick and Chico have both clinched playoff spots!

Homefield advantage is still up for grabs in both leagues
