5.6 earthquake in Oklahoma

Strange that there have been a swarm of earthquakes in Oklahoma and north Texas, which have been quiet zones when it comes to seismic events. Surely the introduction of widespread fracking operations couldn't have anything to do with it, right?

More like the prospect of Oklahoma State getting a trip to the NCG.

Or the great Cthulhu making his views known on potential restrictions on fracking.

It would be just like Ron Paul to do something like this.

Note: Everything I've read so far says no injuries & no major damage reported, hence the totally flip comments I've made. I'm not trying to be all FittyCent about this or anything.

I think I felt it. Everyone in our area did, so this was probably it. I was sitting kind of diagonally in my recliner (you know, with the leg dangled over the armrest). The chair started kind of jiggling around so I looked around for the dog. I sat up just enough to see the dog was over there. I assumed she was trying to dig out one of her toys that had gotten up under the chair. I failed to really fully register that she was too far away to even be touching the chair.

After the jiggling didn't stop immediately, the event re-entered my mind (which it only barely registered with initially) and I did finally realize the dog was too far away and hadn't moved. I considered this quizically for about half a second and then convinced myself that it was the dog because I was sure there wasn't some giant rat under the chair or something. I forgot about until a few minutes later facebook started exploding with earthquake comments.

When getting insurance on my condo, I opted to spend the extra $4/year for earthquake coverage.

Don't forget to add volcano insurance as well. Lava flows can wreak havoc.

Felt it here in KC last night. Nothing huge, but definitely noticed the movement.

Funny thing is that my wife and I both felt it but thought it was the cat. I thought the cat was pawing at my chair and shaking it vigorously. The chair is right next to the window, which was also rattling. I was trying to figure out if it was the wind making the window rattle.

Later I went to bed and my wife said the bed was shaking and she thought it was the cat but didn't see the cat anywhere. She suggested it was an earthquake, and I went online and saw the quake news.

Typhoon, Locust Swarm & Marriage insurance weren't available either. All are just as likely disastrous events...

Sounds like I was right in the middle of it (in Oklahoma City). Interesting experience! Definitely was more noticeable here than indicated by the posts from North Texas or Arkansas.

Definitely felt it here - very strong, rattled the entire house, dishes, etc. but luckily no damage. It's the first earthquake I've ever felt. Quite a strange experience.
