THE SALEM WITCH TRIALS

The quiet, prosperous town of Salem Village was rocked in 1692 by sudden, and profuse allegations of witchcraft. Though there was much concern at the claims of the young ladies involved, some felt it was simply a kind of hysteria, foolish superstitions that should be ignored. That was before the first death.

One fall morning one of accusers was found dead in her bed, no signs of struggle, no seeming cause for death. The next night, another died. Night became a fearful time and houses were locked up tight, guarded. It did nothing to stop the deaths, one each night, clearly by some supernatural agency.

The people of Salem Village only managed to get one clear accusation before the girls were all dead. Driven by desperation, they acted on it, choosing to hang the accused witch and stop this madness. The initial doubters had nothing left to say when the women was hung, her dead body screaming out foul curses as it took the shape of wicked creature born of Hell. There is no doubting now, there are witches among the village of Salem.

Roles
The roles in this game are standard, though colored for the theme of the game. You can assume that there will be a seer and a bodyguard. Possible roles also include a sorcerer, duke, lovers, or brutal wolf. There will be no conversions or cunning.

Voting
Every day the village votes for who they wish to lynch, in hopes of catching a witch. The villager who receives the most votes will be lynched at sundown. Roles will be revealed upon death.

In order to vote, please post your vote in bold and on a separate line like this

VOTE AUTUMN

You may change your vote at any time before the deadline by posting an unvote and then a new vote, both in bold. You may vote No Lynch, and if No Lynch gains the most votes, there will in fact be no lynch.

Deadline will be 3:30 EST each day. Votes stamped at 3:29 will count, votes stamped at 3:30 will not. You do not know what happens if there is a tie. Nightfall votes must be unanimous and will still be dependent on my availability.

Standard rules apply, no conversing with other villagers about the game outside of the thread. Do not edit posts without checking with me. Do not quote PMs from me in game.

Victory Conditions:

Villagers: The Village wins when all witches in Salem Village have been killed.

Witches: The Witches win when they have achieved a 1:1 ratio with the village.

The village of Salem wakes upon a cold gray, autumn morning. It should be time to finish the harvest, to prepare the food for the winter, to prepare the fields for the next spring.

But instead the residents of Salem are gathered in the town meeting hall, inside the church, staring stony-eyed at each other. Yesterday you voted to lynch one of your members and you watched as she revealed herself as a witch on the gallows. Today you're gathered to do the same. Another death last night means there's another witch still in Salem. Who is it? You must decide before the sun goes down and you flee to your houses.

Day one begins.

Even though there's a long time to go until deadline, it's been a while since I posted a lynch vote - going with the first second vote (if that makes sense) because I don't see much point in spreading the votes out too much.

So...did anyone glean any info out of their PM? Mine told me that I realized evil had come when the children started complaining of spirits and curses.

I'm not trying to play the "see if the wolf is missing out on PM info that villagers got" game here (and my guess is that Autumn put enough thought in this not to make it that easy), just trying to see if this can get some discussion going.

I got the same line in mine, and that children were closer to God, etc.
