The Day the BCS Died (Champion Crowned)

While I am still working through the other dynasties that I have going I have decided to take the next 4 weeks to do what I would love to see happen anyway; to see the end of the BCS (well... almost... more on that in a couple lines).

Using What-If-Sports I will simulate the 2011 College Football Playoffs.

This will be a weekend dynasty, I will do the games for each week, as they would be if there was an actual playoff system. With 16 teams we are looking at a 4 week playoff.

How does it work? Great question!!!

While not all conferences use a championship game, most do. All conference champions earn an automatic bid. This gives us 11 teams (I took the highest ranked for The Big East as they had multiple co-champions). That leave 5 at-large bids. Those are the 5 highest rated teams in the BCS ratings that didn't win their conference.

The 16 teams are then seeded (also based on their BCS rankings) with one rule. The top 4 seeds HAVE to be conference champions.

Each round will be re-bracketed so that the highest remaining seed will play the lowest remaning seed, and so forth.

The final two rounds will be held at pre-determined fields.

Championship - at New Orleans

Semi-Final 1 - at Arlington
Semi-Final 2 - at Miami
