That's true, isn't it? Were they planted, or did he declassify them? Because if they were planted, he wouldn't have had to declassify them.

SO apparently either by mistake because they were in a box, or hopefully on purpose (more likely) the FBI took Trumps passports.

I am warming up..

I can easily see a person storing their passport in the same place that they are storing their classified government documents.

I can as well, but I would also assume the FBI would review and catalogue the contents prior to removal.

This is interesting-the same magistrate who OK'ed the warrants on Mar-a-Lago also approved a warrant on a an unrelated to this search matter:

It could easily have been a warrant on a completely unrelated case.

Yeah that does seem to be what the DOJ is saying about that.

Also: Lindsay lost another appeal to testify in GA
Also: Rudy is now a target of the investigation in GA

This is probably not what happened, but I wonder if Trump is making noises about “why don’t I just go to Moscow for a while.” And someone in his inner circle does not want him to and told him that he did not have his passports.

Trump didn't realize they got his passports quickly enough, so after they were offered back under normal protocols, he decided to publicize it as if they "stole" them and had yet returned them. What a piece of shit.

So reportedly the Map Trump drew on with a sharpie was among the stuff that was seized. I honestly think that points to the likelihood that Trump planned on selling at least some of that stuff off at some point.

I'll actually be surprised if Trump didn't use a sharpie write "DECLASSIFIED" on a sticky note and attach that to the documents.

The best part of trump’s 4 years in office is you literally now the crimes he and his tribe committed by just looking at what he’s accused others of doing.

Meanwhile, can't figure out why they were so aggressive in this case years ago.

So is Oz, Vance, or Herschel Walker the biggest disaster of a Senate candidate so far?

I can't imagine the level of hatred McConnell feels for Trump right now, but he'd still vote for him without hesitation if he won the GOP nomination.

Cheney was the 3rd most powerful republican in the House until she voted to impeach Trump. She could have been Speaker of the House, if she had just kept her mouth shut and buried her head up Trump's ass like the other spineless, mealy-mouthed, flip-flopping Trump sycophants (e.g. Lindsey Graham). However, she exemplified John F. Kennedy’s definition of a profile in courage: “In whatever arena of life one may meet the challenge of courage, whatever may be the sacrifices he faces if he follows his conscience — the loss of his friends, his fortune, his contentment, even the esteem of his fellow men — each man must decide for himself the course he will follow.”

She will be fondly remembered by tens of millions of patriotic Americans who can breathe easier now knowing that Trump will never come close to the office of the Presidency again.

I hope she runs for president as a third party. I and I hope enough center-right voters would vote for her to give Biden or whomever on the D side the win. It's the best (only?) way to demonstrate to the GOP that Trumpism ain't the way to victory. But it would require an important number of GOP "defectors" in the right states, not just 15-20% of the general electorate.

Has anyone seen a semi-reliable percentage of GOP primary voters who were likely crossovers? I'm just curious if Cheney's 30% was really closer to 25% of true GOPers, or below 20%. Since you could change your party affiliation the day of the primary in WY, that makes it much easier than in some states to organize a crossover vote.

Interesting poll of Latinos regarding abortion. It typically polled at 2-3% in terms of importance and is now a top 5 issue, with around 20% ranking it in the top 3 issues. Most importantly, 70%+ said abortion should be legal regardless of their personal beliefs on the issue.

I've always thought Cheney did what she did in part because she could then be the one who picked up the pieces of her party, along with her fellow R on the Jan 6 committee whose name I can't spell as VP. I can't see her doing that right now unless she goes Independent

Adam Kinzinger, who I know because he's a Rep from Illinois.

I think she's part of a vestigal GOP wing that thinks the Trump stuff is still just a fever dream and when it passes they can capitalize.

This is something I was thinking about after making my post above regarding crossovers. I think she only helps Dems if Trump runs. I also think there could be a small percentage of moderate Dems/recent GOP defectors who might prefer to vote for her over Biden (due to age) or anyone else the Dems might put up (due to being too far left or uninspiring, or not ready for primetime). Which could hurt the Dem nominee, but likely not enough to overcome the dent I think she could put in Trump's vote count. But again, it really only matters in a handful of states, so...

If DeSantis is the nominee, unfortunately I think a decent portion of anti-Trump sentiment that could result in a 3rd party vote goes away. I don't think there's enough true Never Trump sentiment to infect most other nominees. I know people talk big on Twitter about never voting for Trump or anyone who has enabled Trump, but to me, until I see proof to the contrary, I'm lumping a lot of those people in with the people who stopped watching the NFL because players were kneeling, or stopped watching any sport because of a strike. It's something people say but rarely act on.

I think if/when Trump gets indicted/found guilty for his actions in GA or Mar-a-Lago, it will finally wake up all but the farthest/craziest of the Republican right and they will start coming back to the fold, but if they do, I think any of them shouldn't be let back in the Party until they swear a new loyalty oath and totally turn their back on Trump.

The problem going forward isn't Trump, the problem is the policies and dismantling of democratic institutions he brought and promises to bring. Which isn't much different than what a DeSantis will do. And Cheney seems close enough herself, no ? Maybe more subtle but i doubt you will see her decrying gerrymandering , erosion of certain rights and subverting government agencies. Or am i wrong ?

Btw there's also independents (at least on paper) running on the batshit crazy platform:

And Canada apparently has crazy people as well:

‘QAnon Queen’ Romana Didulo Told Followers to Citizen's Arrest Ontario Police

Quote:
Early Saturday afternoon, Didulo’s convoy and other believers, many of them livestreaming, gathered near the Peterborough Police department. Chattering excitedly among themselves, they marched down to the police station and readied themselves to arrest some cops. Upon walking up to the entrance, however, the group encountered a problem that not even their queen could solve for them: a locked door.

(...)

Video from the event shows Curtin confronting an off-duty officer in a vehicle and telling him “we’re placing you under arrest” before immediately being arrested by police officers himself.

(...)

And in royal tradition, the queen attempted to distance herself from the event she promoted and threw her followers under the bus. In a livestream from the RV with hundreds of viewers, she said she’d only come to watch.

“A gentle reminder that Her Royal Majesty Queen Romana Didulo Commander-in-Chief and Queen of the Kingdom of Canada was in Peterborough Ontario yesterday as an observer NOT participant,” she wrote Sunday.
