Wow.... what kind of numbers did the first team All-American QB have to beat out the Golden Arm?

2016 NFL Draft

The UCLA teammates heard their names early as Rob Nielsen went #10 to the Kansas City Chiefs and David Gonzalez went #24 to the New England Patriots. Nick Thomas was the first pick of the second round as he went to the Detroit Lions. In the 4th Pitt corner Chas Swaggs was picked by the Seattle Seahawks.

Three players did not hear their name called. Moe Farley, Dean Hoo, and Max Power all went undrafted. Shortly after the draft the San Francisco 49ers called and offered Farley a one-year contract.

Contracts

Rob Nielsen signed a 5 year deal worth $18,460,000.

David Gonzalez signed a 4 year deal worth $11,480,000.

Nick Thomas signed a 3 year deal worth $4,780,000.

Chas Swaggs signed a 3 year deal worth $2,080,000.

Moe Farley signed a 1 year deal worth $270,000.

2016 - NFL - Preseason

Jacksonville Jaguars - Running Back

A very interesting situation brewing in Jacksonville. Two years after making Brian Butts the #1 pick in the NFL, Jacksonville picked up another running back in the first round and it looks like he will be placing Butts as the Jaguars starter.

Philadelphia Eagles - Running Back

Brown will be the backup for the Eagles again this year. He was able to get plenty of carries as the backup last season.

Buffalo Bills - Running Back

Jestor will again be the Bills third string running back.

New Orleans Saints - Outside Linebacker

Harp will be starting at outside linebacker for the Saints. He lost his job early last season and hopes to keep it this year.

San Diego Chargers - Quarterback

Jace only lasted 3 games with Green Bay last season and spent the rest of the season at home. San Diego picked him up this offseason and he will be their 3rd quarterback.

Kansas City Chiefs - Quarterback

Not exactly sure what is going on over in Kansas City. Nielsen is the best quarterback on the Chiefs roster but is currently inactive. We'll see if that changes quickly.

Seattle Seahawks- Cornerback

Swaggs will be the Seahawks fourth corner and will be fighting for playing time.

San Francisco 49ers - Quarterback

Farley is on the 49ers inactive list.

Free Agent

Hoo is looking for a team

New England Patriots - Wide Receiver

Gonzalez is the Patriots 5th wide receiver to start the season.

Detroit Lions - Free Safety

Thomas is the Lions third free safety.

Free Agent

Power is looking for a team.

2016 - NCAA - Preseason

Stanford Cardinal - QB - RS Senior

Ingram should be the star quarterback in the Pac-10 and one of the top QB's in the country.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish - QB - RS Senior

Prescott lost his starting job last season after the game one but has earned his job back.

Texas A&M Aggies - DE - RS Senior

Russ dominated last season with 23.5 sacks. He is the best player in the entire country.

Texas A&M Aggies - WR - RS Senior

Foley will be the Aggies #1 receiver.

Maryland Terrapins - ILB - RS Senior

O'Peake had a bit of a down year last season, a year after being the NCAA's Defensive MVP. But that was to be expected as it was hard to live up to those numbers. O'Peake will be a force this season.

Miami Hurricanes - RB - RS Senior

Wahoo's yards per carry dropped quite a bit last season. He's hoping to rebound this season.

Michigan Wolverines - QB - RS Senior

White quietly had a great season last year. If he puts up those kind of numbers again he should be able to get in the Heisman running.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish - CB - RS Senior

It's time for Ritschel to finally step up and put up some numbers this year. He has not picked off a pass since his freshmen year.

Alabama Crimson Tide - DE - RS Junior

Palmer was solid last season for the Tide but didn't put up big sack numbers. He's looking to improve on that this year.

Tulane Green Wave - DE - RS Junior

Before going down with an injury Ott was putting up numbers on pace with Dave Russ. He's healthy now and should be a star.

Ohio State Buckeyes - OLB - RS Junior

Tovar was extremely solid last season and was named NCAA All-League Second Team. He should be tough for the Buckeyes again.

Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles - QB - Senior

Ertmann finally gets his shot to start this year.

Wisconsin Badgers - TE - Senior

Kastos had a good season and was named to the All-Big Ten team last season.

Iowa Hawkeyes - S - RS Junior

Hughes is the second safety in an extremely talented safety group for the Hawkeyes.

Temple Owls - S - RS Junior

Chagulia is the Owls #1 safety this season. Hopefully the Owls will improve.

Texas A&M Aggies - CB - RS Junior

Mighty had a bit of a down year last season. Look for him to rebound.

Iowa Hawkeyes - QB - RS Junior

Schaplowsky and the Hawkeyes struggled again last season. With a lot of starters returning hopefully things will turn around.

Florida Gators - RB - RS Junior

Phillips was strong for the Gators last season who didn't make a bowl game despite making it to the SEC title game. Phillips will be one of the nations top backs.

Rice Owls - WR - RS Sophomore

Silvers is the Owls #2 receiver and is looking to put up good numbers.

USC Trojans - WR - RS Sophomore

Morgan is the Trojans #2 receiver.

USC Trojans - S - RS Sophomore

Idol had a very solid freshmen year and looks to improve on that.

Michigan Wolverines - RB - Junior

After a terrific freshmen season, McGillicuddy's production dropped quite a bit. He was injured for a few games and never seems to replicate the past year's success. Look for him to bounce back.

Kentucky Wildcats - TE - RS Sophomore

Moore didn't get a catch last season and moves up to the 3rd tight end spot for the Wildcats.

Michigan Wolverines - RB - RS Freshmen

Harp will be the Wolverines 3rd back.

Arizona State Sun Devils - QB - Sophomore

Interesting news at Arizona State. He played great after having his redshirt and led the Sun Devils to an Orange Bowl win. But, Arizona State has decided to redshirt Thomas again.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish - QB - RS Freshmen

Da Hoo gained redshirt status last season after not seeing the field at all. He'll be Notre Dame's 2nd quarterback and backup Deion Prescott.

Nebraska Cornhuskers - WR - RS Freshmen

McDowell will be Nebraska's 2nd receiver.

Colorado State Rams - TE- RS Freshmen

Colorado State has named O'Shea their starting tight end.

Florida State Seminoles - ILB - RS Freshmen

Williams will be the Seminoles 5th ILB.

Michigan Wolverines - QB - Freshmen

Bell will be redshirted.

North Texas - QB - Freshmen

Farley will be the second on the North Texas depth chart.

Stanford Cardinal - WR - Freshmen

Gonzalez will be redshirted.

Texas A&M Aggies - WR - Freshmen

Nielsen will be redshirted.

Stanford Cardinal- P - Freshmen

Tricker will be the starting punter.

Texas Longhorns- OLB - Freshmen

Wadden will be redshirted.

So wait!

Really? Avery leads them to a bowl win, rattles off 4 straight wins after being pulled from the redshirt and they reward him with a redshirt.....F-off ASU Coaching staff!

And he's the most talented QB on their roster. Odd for them to redshirt him. Same thing happened to Maury Ott a couple seasons ago as well.

Bah, I kind of like us going out on top and leaving an impossible set of records and success in our wake.

I do not, however, like the fact that KC is dicking me around. Though I do like that fat paycheck they gave me.

Not much production this week from FOFCers. Rob Nielsen was given the start in his first game but struggled. Brian Butts only received 2 carries.

Deion Prescott is finally the start at Notre Dame for his senior year and started well in a 45-15 win. Prescott was 15-18 for 159 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Ches O'Peake
gets his senior year started out right with 8 tackles in a good 21-17 win over North Texas.

Dave Russ wasted no time getting this season started by picking up 2.5 sacks. Andrew Foley caught 3 passes for 82 yards and a touchdown.

Great start for Michigan and their star quarterback and running back. Barry White was 13-18 for 229 yards and 3 touchdowns in the 51-0 win over Rutgers. Larry McGillicuddy carried the ball 26 times for 191 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Dan Ertmann finally got his chance and played very well in a 41-13 win over Oklahoma State. Ertmann was 16-24 for 280 yards and a 3 touchdowns.

Kuji Chagulia picked off two passes in a 17-13 win over Duke.

No mention of my fantastic day? 26-31 with 2 TD's is a pretty good way to open my junior season. I still don't like my 2 INT's though.

Brian Butts
, trying to show coaches they made a mistake by putting him second on the depth chart, rushed for 121 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.

Rob Nielsen struggled again and David Gonzalez caught his first two passes.

Deion Prescott and Notre Dame took care of UCLA, 30-3. Prescott was 15-21 for 254 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Good game for Wahoo McDaniel, 29 carries for 141 yards in a 35-21 win.

Michigan had their second straight blowout behind the great play of Barry White and Larry McGillicuddy. White was 17-23 for 257 yards and 3 touchdowns while McGillicuddy was even better, 28 carries for 226 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Iowa picked up win #2 behind Mike Schaplowsky. He went 20-39 for 242 yards and a touchdown.

7 catches for 95 yards for Dex Morgan as USC moves to 2-0.

Good start for Ohio State but Darryl isn't being too productive yet.

Western Michigan doesn't seem to fit in with Ricky's other college choices. Not sure where I want to see him yet.

Wow Craig Ingram starts with one of the best games of his career not that Nielsen is no longer in his way to dominate the Pac-10. Love seeing Schoonover having a choice as USC and I know exactly where Hesperia is about an hour from here.

Good news for Dean Hoo. The 49ers starting kicker went down with an injury so the Niners picked up Hoo on a one-year, $270,000 contract.

Izulde Jestor picked up his first carries of the year, 7 for 40 yards.
