Kickstarter 2.0 needs to add various levels of donations so people can target them from the get go. Maybe even add more days to them to give companies a shot at achieving them. It just seems like companies start with one goal and then suddenly go, "Gee, if we hit this number, we can add this..."

I don't know that's it's really necessary for them to change it. Companies can already put what they'd do at different levels of funding in descriptions. When they start out just hoping they can get $400k or $900k to make a game I think it's understandable not to tell people what they'd spend the extra funds on if they were to reach $3 million until the backing gets a little closer to that total. There have been some that listed what would be available at certain levels at the start, but it's usually something close to the the target, I think Shadowrun Returns started off saying we can make the game at $400k, at $500k it will have a Mac version. The developers would probably be better off not mentioning what they'd do if it gets something like 3 or 4 times the funding they hope for rather than have to deal with people complaining that the game that just met it's funding didn't have some of the features they talked about being able to do if it reached $4 million.

Given how bonkers the modding community has gone with Fallout, I am stoked that the $3m amount was reached.

When will one of these big money raising Kickstarters turn out to be a massive fraud?

That was the final total from Kickstarter, there is also about $100k from PayPal by people who couldn't pay with a credit card.

There is usually a 5% reduction because people end up not paying as well. So I doubt they will not do something just because of that. Usually they factor those things into their awards because they know there will be loss...

Granted in this case they've shipped games before, but I still wonder.

Read about the crowd sourcing of art assets for Wasteland 2 in their latest update, if it goes anything like it does for Dota 2 it could work very well. Some of the user submitted stuff there is better than the models Valve makes. I hope it can work to provide a good variety for art assets.

If you backed Wasteland 2 you can head over to the Ranger Center to get either a Steam or a GoG key for the original Wasteland.

Anyone who backed at a Beta access level should have a beta key on their Ranger Station donations page.

I played the Beta version last night. It was more polished than I expected given the state of most of the other Steam Greenlit/beta titles I've played. I think this could be the turn-based shooter/RPG I've been looking for ever since JA2.

I fired it up for the first time since July and played 15-20 minutes and was blown away with how much more polished it has become over the last two months. This looks like it will be what all fans of Wasteland hoped it would be.

Qrusher, I would download from steam now and start enjoying it, I almost wish I hadn't played now. I want to keep going, but if I do it will turn into one of those "Oh shit, it's 2am already" nights and I need to be up at 4:30, so exercising willpower.

Got it and man, I had to put it away to keep from playing till the end.

That being said, I do question some of the writing so far, I'll leave it at that.

I will say this, one thing that does suck, no fast travel "when in a location". You should be able to click on a map of a town and be able to go to whatever location you have explored. It's tedium.

Got some extended time in this morning and had a chance to experience some more extensive combat. This game really rewards you for having a diverse team and making wise strategic combat choices, and conversely punishes you badly when you just rush in guns blazing.

The new combat animations are sick (blew a raiders arm off with my high powered hunting rifle from range and decapitated another with my bruiser taking a nail imbedded 2x4 to his head) and the AI is pretty solid. Enemies that can hit you from range, will work to stay there as an example and they utilize cover well.

Early, but best of this type I have played since, well Fallout 2

I'm looking forward to playing this at some point. Do you need a decent computer to play it? I need to update my three-year-old laptop at some point, but I'm trying to put that off for another few months.

This looks like a different kind of fun than Fallout (which I never played) and I never played the original, so someone let me know if its any good - looks like fun.
