My One Year Long Dynasty!
This was suposed to be the start of a dynasty, but I quickly realised I would not have the time to write it up every season, but I felt I should post the first and only year.
--------------------------------------------------- Before I start to tell you about my career, I would like to tell you one thing. Compared to many of you I am a rookie. I live in the UK, and although I have been watching the NFL for over 10 years, I did not fully understand and appreciate the game until I bought FOF 2. For this reason, and in order to save a little time, I will be allowing the coach to determine the depth chart and the plays (Unless he insists on playing players I don't want him to play), and the scout will pick the later rounds of the draft, because I know he will make better choices than me! I tend to go for offence first, all the time. This is the thread to read if you want to find out how not to manage a team! The team I have chosen is the Washington Redskins, and I am playing on Wall Street level, with an allocation draft at the start. All sliders were centered during the draft. I don't have any houserules as such, because I find it so damn hard to win Hewever, I only negotiate contract extensions for players during preseason, or the offseason, never during the regular season. The draft picks are automatically signed. MY SCOUT Tyrell Carrera - Age 46 - Rated as VG - Offensive line, Defensive line, Receivers, Secondary and Young Talent. Good for QB and Kickers, and poor for everthing else. MY COACH Byron Reeves - Age 63 - Rated as Excellent with QB's, VG with most defensive aspects, and fairly average at everthing else. I think I might replace him when his contract expires at the end of this season. Washington Redskins Roster - 2000 Name # Pos OnTm Ctrc Exp Stat Cap Cost Plummer, Jake 10 QB 1999 2001 4 ----- $440,000 Graziani, Tony 12 QB 1999 2000 4 ----- $440,000 Bledsoe, Drew 18 QB 1999 2002 8 ----- $4,500,000 Basnight, Michael 23 RB 1999 2002 2 ----- $440,000 Howard, Chris 21 RB 1999 2001 3 ----- $440,000 Philyaw, Dino 38 RB 1999 2001 4 ----- $440,000 Martin, Curtis 31 RB 1999 2003 6 ----- $3,300,000 Powell, Marvin 24 FB 1999 2001 2 ----- $440,000 Anderson, Richie 33 FB 1999 2001 8 ----- $440,000 Williams, Roland 85 TE 1999 2001 3 ----- $440,000 Alexander, Stephen 86 TE 1999 2002 3 ----- $700,000 Sorrell, Buddy 81 TE 1999 2000 R ----- $440,000 Scott, Darnay 83 WR 1999 2001 7 ----- $1,400,000 McDonald, Darnell 87 WR 1999 2001 2 ----- $440,000 Smith, Rod 80 WR 1999 2003 6 ----- $1,200,000 White, Dez 84 WR 1999 2001 R ----- $440,000 Farmer, Danny 89 WR 1999 2001 R ----- $440,000 Mawae, Kevin 50 C 1999 2002 7 ----- $800,000 Turk, Dan 53 C 1999 2002 16 ----- $440,000 Page, Solomon 62 G 1999 2003 2 ----- $1,900,000 Blaise, Kerlin 68 G 1999 2000 3 ----- $440,000 Billings, Charles 63 G 1999 2001 R ----- $440,000 Tejada, Monty 74 G 1999 2001 R ----- $1,750,000 Meadows, Adam 70 T 1999 2003 4 ----- $5,000,000 Davidds-Garri, Norbert 72 T 1999 2001 5 ----- $440,000 Spears, Marcus 69 T 1999 2002 7 ----- $440,000 Tait, John 67 T 1999 2002 2 ----- $2,300,000 Pope, Daniel 15 P 1999 2000 2 ----- $440,000 Vanderjagt, Mike 19 K 1999 2000 3 ----- $440,000 Ellis, Greg 98 DE 1999 2002 3 ----- $4,000,000 Johnstone, Lance 91 DE 1999 2004 5 ----- $7,000,000 Williams, George 96 DE 1999 2001 3 ----- $440,000 Wistrom, Grant 97 DE 1999 2001 3 ----- $440,000 Lett, Leon 93 DT 1999 2004 10 ----- $3,000,000 Barndt, Tom 99 DT 1999 2002 5 ----- $440,000 Bowens, Tim 90 DT 1999 2003 7 ----- $2,750,000 Spriggs, Marcus 94 DT 1999 2000 2 ----- $440,000 Fredrickson, Rob 56 LB 1999 2003 7 ----- $1,000,000 Navies, Hannibal 58 LB 1999 2001 2 ----- $550,000 Coakley, Dexter 55 LB 1999 2002 4 ----- $1,200,000 Reeves, John 57 LB 1999 2001 2 ----- $440,000 Wilson, Al 54 LB 1999 2001 2 ----- $1,000,000 Corbin, Roderick 51 LB 1999 2001 R ----- $550,000 Clark, Danny 52 LB 1999 2000 R ----- $440,000 Wright, Kenny 26 CB 1999 2001 2 ----- $440,000 Scott, Chad 43 CB 1999 2001 4 ----- $1,400,000 Brown, Fakhir 45 CB 1999 2002 2 ----- $440,000 Serwanga, Wasswa 49 CB 1999 2000 2 ----- $440,000 Carter, Dale 22 CB 1999 2003 9 ----- $1,500,000 Austin, Raymond 34 S 1999 2000 4 ----- $440,000 Ray, Marcus 41 S 1999 2002 2 ----- $440,000 Marion, Brock 47 S 1999 2001 8 ----- $700,000 Garnes, Sam 37 S 1999 2002 4 ----- $800,000 2000 PRESEASON Before the preseason started, I resigned for K - Mike Vanderjagt for an extra year, as well as LB - Danny Clark, and managed to save a few hundred thousand, giving me a bit more room under the cap to sign the inevitable injury replacements. REDSKINS 34 @ Tampa 38 New England 43 @ REDSKINS 13 REDSKINS 7 @ Cleveland 20 Steelers 18 @ REDSKINS 35 We had a terrible preseason, going 1-3, and even worse, we have 9 players injured before the season has even started. Luckily most of these players are backups, and are listed at 0-2 weeks. Let's hop this team can perform better in the regular season. my goal right now is to have a winning record, and hopefully make it into the playoffs. 2000 REGULAR SEASON Week 1 Carolina Panthers @ WASHINGTON REDSKINS - Carolina wins 41-27 Oh dear. Not the start I wanted at all. Bledsoe completed 21 of 41 for 306 yards with 3 TD's and 1 INT. He was sacked 7 times! My running game was almost non-existant. The defense was horrible, absolutely terrible. There was no pressure on Carolina QB at all, and Ty Detmer took full advantage of this to throw 4 touchdown passes, and was named game MVP. Carolina only needed to punt once during the entire game. Ugh, on to next week. Week 2 WASHINGTON REDSKINS (0-1) @ Detroit Lions (0-1) - Detroit wins 31-17 An all round stinker of a game, again. Bledsoe gets sacked 4 more times, on his way to throwing 23 completions in 52 attempts, for 343 yards and 2 touchdowns. However, there were 4 interceptions. Our rushing game sucked as well, with our leading rusher getting 46 yards. Our defence did very little, once again getting no sacks, and not acheiveng an interception either. Next up, Dallas at home. We better beat them! Week 3 Dallas Cowboys (1-1) @ WASHINGTON REDSKINS (0-2) - Dallas wins 47-34 AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH. This is neverending. It is obvious to me that I need to make changes to my gameplan, as it just isnot working right now. I need to run more and cut down on the passes. I think it is just too predictable right now. In this game Bledsoe was good, completing 17 of 36 for 391 yards and 5 TD's, but there were 3 interceptions. He also got sacked 3 more times. On a happier not, my defence got their first sack of the season! Marshall Faulk was a well deserved game MVP, with 186 rushing yards and 1 TD, plus 35 recieving yards and a TD. Week 4 WASHINGTON REDSKINS (0-3) @ New York Giants (1-2) - WASHINGTON wins 24-19 At last, our first win. This was a very close game, with the score level at 19 intil we hit a field goal with 12 seconds remaining, then the Giants gave up a safety as time ran out. Bledsoe was sacked 3 more times, while my defence failed to get near to the Giants QB. My defence still stunk, but the Giants offence was not strong enough to take full advantage of this. Drew Bledsoe was injured in the third quarter, but was on his way to a great game, completing 15 of 19 passes for over 200 yards, but no TD's. Jake Plummer was more than adequate in relief. Bledsoe is likely to be gone for a few weeks, so we better get used to Jake "The Snake". Curtis Martin got the ball plenty of times, but could only rush for 34 yards, but that was good enough for a TD and the game MVP award. Week 5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-2) @ WASHINGTON REDSKINS (1-3) - WASHINGTON wins 23-17 (OT) We are on a streak! This was another close game, but my defence put up a better job than in any other game this season. My running game finally appeared as well, with Curtis Martin rushing for 96 yards and 2 TDs and winning a well deserve game MVP award for the second game running. Plummer was OK passing for 220 yards and 1 TD, but threw an interception, and was sacked 3 times. At least our defence stepped up and sacked Tampa QB Batch twice, and caught 2 interceptions, but I still do not feel I could count on them at all. After the game, Plummer appeared on the injury list, with a concussion, so it is likely that Bledsoe will make a come back next week. Week 6 WASHINGTON REDSKINS (2-3) @ Philadelphia Eagles (2-3) - WASHINGTON wins 42-13 This win felt good. Bledsoe completed 19 of 29 for 209 yards, 3TD's and not interceptions. The offensive line only gave up one sack as well! Curtis Martin was outstanding, rushing for 111 yards and 2 touchdowns, and he caught another. The defence was not outstanding, but it was way too good for Philadelphia on this day. On a more unhappy note, I have 11 players on the injured list, and this figure can not be good. Week 7 Baltimore Ravens (1-5) @ WASHINGTON REDSKINS (3-3) - Baltimore wins 14-10 I am too disgusted to speak about this game. The only player on my team that comes out of this game with anything good was my No. 2 Running back, Chris Howard, with 80 yards rushing. Week 8 WASHINGTON REDSKINS (3-4) @ Jacksonville Jaguars (2-5) - Jacksonville wins 48-45 This was a heartbreaker. I led for most of the game, as Curtis Martin was having another stellar game (152 yards rushing, 1 TD), and Bledsoe was playing fairly well. However, Bledsoe gave up 2 interceptions for touchdowns in the 4th, which helped them right back into the game, and of course my defence allowed the Jaguars to march downfield on almost every possession. I fell agonizingly short of field goal range in my final possession of the game. MID SEASON REPORT My Redskins are 3-5 after 8 games, when we really should be 5-3, but we gave up two very bad losses. Luckily, due to our division being so poor, we still have a chance of making the playoffs, if we can beat Arizona in our games with them later in the season. Drew Bledsoe currently has a 53% completion percentage, for 1771 yards, and a league high 16 touchdowns in 7 games. He also has a league high 11 interceptions. His QB rating is 79.5. Curtis Martin has 505 yards and 6 rushing TDs in 8 games. My defence is just horrible, so there are stand out numbers. In the rest of the league, Brett Favre (CLE) and Doug Flutie (ATL) are the leading passers in the league. The best teams right now are Cincinnati (7-0) and New Orleans (6-1). In the second half of the season, I think the games will be much tougher, but maybe I will be lucky enough to get another 3 or 4 wins. Week 9 Tennessee Titans (5-2) @ WASHINGTON REDSKINS (3-5) - WASHINGTON wins 16-13 This might have been a breakout game for my defence. They held the Titans offence to a mere 80 yards in the air, but Titans RB Curtis Enis ran for 160 yards. Bledsoe got hurt early on, and Plummer coped well in relief. The star if this game was LB John Reeves, with 3 sacks, from the 6 my team made. Week 10 WASHINGTON REDSKINS (4-5) @ Arizona Cardinals (5-4) - Arizona wins 17-6 Not much to say about this game, apart from Bledsoe was terrible, Martin was tremendous, and we blew a chance to top our division. Week 11 Bye Week. Hopefully some of the players can shake off their niggling injuries. Week 12 WASHINGTON REDSKINS (4-6) @ St Louis Rams (5-5) - WASHINGTON wins 24-21 Drew Bledsoe had another so-so game, but Curtis Martin made up for it, rushing for over 100 yards, and the backup Howard ran for 49 and 2 TD's. The defence allowed a ton of passing yards, but clamped down upon the St Louis running game. I am still alive in the playoff chase! Week 13 Philadelphia Eagles (6-6) @ WASHINGTON REDSKINS (5-6) - WASHINGTON wins 34-16 Back to .500 baby! This was a great performance by my team. Bledsoe did not miss a beat, going 24 of 32 for 238 yards and 2 TD's with no interceptions, and Martin rushing 140 yards with 2 TD's. My defence was better than usual in this game, although they did start slacking inthe final quarter, and allowed Philly to score, but the game was well out of their reach by that point, so I forgive them! Week 14 New York Giants (3-9) @ WASHINGTON REDSKINS (6-6) - WASHINGTON wins 17-14 Wow, now I can think of the playoffs. Curtis Martin was great again, with 105 yards rushing, and the defence stepped up bigtime as well this week. Drew Bledso also had a fine game in this come from behind win. Week 15 WASHINGTON REDSKINS (7-6) @ Dallas Cowboys (6-7) - Dallas wins 28-7 Dallas had 14 points in the first 5 minutes, and that killed the game. My team was awful, and Bledsoe got hurt again. Thee goes our playoff hopes. Week 16 WASHINGTON REDSKINS (7-7) @ Pittsburgh Steelers (3-11) - Pittsburgh wins 48-21 We stunk. Martin had 99 yards rushing, and Howard 108, but everthing else was appalling. We are still alive in the playoff hunt, but it will take a freaky round of results for it to happen. Not to mention I have to beat the division winners in my final game. Week 17 Arizona Cardinals (10-5) @ WASHINGTON REDSKINS (7-8) - WASHINGTON wins 24-9 This was a real suprise, and I was so close to making the playoffs, but the Cowboys just pipped me to the post. Curtis Martin was wonderful as ever, rushing for 125 yards and 2 TD's, and my defence was great, but it just was not quite enough. PLAYOFFS WILDCARD ROUND Dallas 3 - Arizona 31 Chicago 10 - Atlanta 27 Tennessee 28 - Indianapolis 18 Oakland 20 - Seattle 38 DIVISIONAL ROUND Arizona 14 - New Orleans 6 Atlanta 0 - Green Bay 27 Seattle 21 - Cincinnati 28 Tennessee 10 - New England 38 CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS Arizona 3 - Green Bay 15 Cincinnati 24 - New England 27 SUPER BOWL Green Bay 17 - New England 44 SEASON AWARDS Curtis Martin got 2nd Team honors, and suprisingly enough, 2 members of my offensive line got 1st team honors, Monty Tejada and Adam Meadows. FINAL SCORE Team Performance - 54 Franchise Value - 100 Profit/Loss - 100 Difficulty - 64 OVERALL - 86 Wow, my third best score ever in FOF 2001! Who would have thought it? --------------------------------------------------------- After this season I realised 2 things. 1 - That I am useless at getting teams to play good defence, and 2 - That I do not particularly like writing up every move I make in my game, mainly because it takes so long! For this reason, this will be the only season I ever post to the message board. I plan to continue this season for a few more seasons, and if anything unusual happens (Like I make the playoffs ), I will post it too this thread. I thank everyone who reads this post, and now I will get back to reading everyone elses franchise posts. |

Thanks for the nice summary. You do a very good job of detailing your career. Good luck to your team in the future years.
