Squad Building help.
Hi
I am looking for help on how to build my Jets team. Please forgive me as I am a Brit. In my game I have tried to build a team around running the ball, building a good O-Line with a fairly good running back, but I always seem to rank quite low in the rushing stats. I don't play the games or set the charts, I just love to build the squads. I know its hard for you to give me advice when you can't see my game but should I start to set my charts and call the plays myself to improve this? Any tips at all on building a team would be great as I get confused with what stats I should be looking for on a specific position. I play a True 3-4 defense and a balanced offense and chemistry option is off. I tend to try and stick to the weight suggestions from the manual too. Like I said any tips at all on how to build a team/what stats to look for per position/scheme would be really helpful. Thanks Shaun |

I believe O-Line cohesion is crucial to running the ball. Try checking that out!

RT/RG are particularly important for running the ball well so you'll want guys who can run block well here. I usually target tackles high in the draft to try and get guys who can both run and pass protect.
For running backs look for good Hole Recognition. I've had guys who had this almost maxed out and not a lot else and still run pretty well even using the Erhardt-Perkins system. After that I normally look at Breakaway Speed/Power Inside. Also unless you have a superstar RB with good endurance try to have two guys who can share the load. If you take that approach it's worth keeping an eye out for bargains in the draft. Sometimes a guy will be rated quite low because of a lack of receiving skills but can run the ball effectively. You can always sign another guy for the 3rd down/pass catching role if needed. Hope this helps, from a fellow Brit! Last edited by ayekuf : 04-06-2018 at 11:56 AM. |

I've won many championships with a clearly outmatched team talent-wise because of cohesion. If interested in the effects try visiting the One'N'Done section of the dynasty reports here: "One And Done" Challenge - Front Office Football Central -- Then it'll be clear what I'm talking about. Try also visiting Chronicle -> Team -> Unit cohesion in game. It shows your cohesion relatively to the best in the league. When my teams have succes, I'm highly placed in most of the cohesion groups and likely a top-5 in 2 or 3. |

Make sure you keep an eye on the intelligence of your offensive linemen too. There is a huge difference between a chunk of brainless meat who can block and an actually good offensive lineman. You don't want a bunch of false starts and holding calls to derail you, especially if you intend to run frequently.
Once you have a set of solid linemen with good intelligence, just keep that unit together and plug in the best back you can behind them. Its not uncommon for a truly top tier run game to flirt with and occasionally break 6 yards per carry.
