NFL Trade Deadline

The Lions kick things off by sending a mid-round pick for a 5'8" WR to fill the biggest hole on their roster, the #4 WR role.

Mike Thomas of Jacksonville Jaguars traded to Detroit Lions - ESPN

It has taken me several minutes of incredulous screams of "WHAT?" interspersed with mumbles that barely resemble words.

Holes everywhere in the secondary. They fill a non-hole with a guy that couldn't meet the expectations of Jacksonville. Well, at least we know they won't be trying to run the ball at all or keep Pettigrew & Calvin involved.

Un-fucking-believable.

Wasn't Matt Millen spotted in Detroit this past weekend?

Mike Thomas Could Be Replacing Best as Much as Burleson | Bleacher Report

interesting take. he may be the replacement for Best.

Quote:
The deal, which CBS Sports reported was for a fifth-round 2014 draft pick, won’t be official until Thomas passes his physical Wednesday

This may be the best part of it (no pun intended) I was afraid of a 3rd rd pick

I would hope even the Lions would be smart enough to not give up a 3rd for a 4th WR/receiving back.

I'm guessing any player decent enough to be worth bringing in midseason to plug a hole in the secondary would be too heavily coveted by his own team to make a trade worth it.

Yeah but everyone knows that Jaguars are loaded with more talent than they know what to do with. Meanwhile, the Lions are one of those obvious playoff teams that are just poised for a Super Bowl run, and looking for that last piece. So really, the move is genius.

The genius move is picking up a 5'8" RB from the Jags for a 5th rounder. Now if they just can keep from telling anybody who it isn't...
