Texarkana takes an OT thriller over rival North Shel, 88-84. Don't have the stats in yet, but I'm pretty sure North Shel's PG William Leiber attempted 50 free throws during the game.

Well, now that Season 2 is in the books, Texarkana is again sitting at #2 behind an undefeated team. Unlike last year, I think we have a decent claim to being #1 even though we lost a game.
Here's how I would argue our case: We outrated Farmington 40.0-31.2 on the season, our loss came in the first game of the year (before I had time to tweak my lineups), we've had 15 wins by 16 points or more since then, we led the nation in scoring, came in 2nd in blocks and 4th in steals... And Farmington is a cpu-controlled team who beat no human players in their run. So I am asking for you three or four other voters to consider the argument for the Bootleggers when you place that vote. |

Pretty pleased to have finished ranked #4 in the nation.
It is definitely a fun diversion -- made more enjoyable by other humans joining the North Atlantic Conference. A little puzzled about why my final recruit -- who was pretty fond of us and who didn't have any other scholarship offers -- didn't come aboard while a senior walk-on I had never even heard of did. Not a deal-breaker, just mildly irritating. Good luck this season, towel boy ballerz. |

I wouldn't mind seeing dynamic roles.
My best shooter is a 6'8" power forward who is best suited as a Small Forward. However, because he's a PF I cannot list him as a "shooter", and thus am not getting the most out of his skillset. |

CW, when can we expect to see the new class or recruits? Seems a smidge longer than last off-season. Thanks.

Yeah, there was something goofy going on with the nightly crons, where a couple of them didn't run right for the end of season stuff. I had already fixed one, didn't notice the recruits didn't run. They're running right now.

CW, it says that I have no schollys to offer when I should have 3. And weirder still it says I offered one which I haven't yet because it says I have none to give!

I have a redshirt that hasn't come off- can't put the guy into my lineups. He's showing as a Junior but should be a RS Soph.

Well, I've found it usually helps to update the end of season scripts when you add redshirting a feature. Working on it.

Landed an instant contributor at SF for next season. Now we just need to find a good point guard or two.

Believe after a lot of insanity, things are back under control. What basically happened is a situation the game engine wasn't able to handle - between redshirting and GPA, a team had 0 eligible players at a position. It thusly blew up when it was trying to run that game, and stopped the sim.

I also forgot to make a post celebrating my National Title! Thanks to everyone who voted for me. I will now pay tribute to the 6 seniors who ended up going 58-5 in their Towel Boy careers.
PF Burke Lombardi- My defensive workhorse. Led the nation in blocks + steals per game and did his share on the glass as well. 3 year starter. PF Bruno Burr- My backup defensive workhorse. He should have been the starter by ratings but Lombardi just gave me more consistency. Made a few spot starts. PG William Tart- Became my #2 scoring option last year and did everything you could ask a PG to do. 3 year starter who will be missed. PG Joseph Baruch- Very similar in talent to Tart, more of a pure PG. Held back by a lack of size and a habit of losing his ratings after he maxed out early in his career. SF Erich Dockerty- Went from a year one starter to 7 minutes a game his senior year. Got his shooting up to 8, but his physical and mental weaknesses held him back. SG Geoff Luong- I was counting down the days until I could replace him on my roster. I was nice and got him about 15 minutes on the court a year since he kept his GPA up but damn did he suck. |

Wow, we're ranked for the first time ever! If we're ranked now with 7 freshman.....I can't imagine what we'll be in two seasons. I've got three 7-foot freshmen on the squad. All three of them will be very skilled. I'll have fun with having the third one who's not starting backing up the other two so we'll always have two 7 footers on the floor.
The breakdown of who I've got: 5'7" Stubbes who will eventually be one of the best shut-down defenders in college basketball..and he rebounds well. He won't be overwhelming on offense but will be very efficient for us next year and on as he sees more minutes. SF Kolligs will be a scoring slasher starting next year. Not too many will be able to defend him with his elite shooting and very good movement/good handle. Lorincz I redshirted, but in hindsight I wish I hadn't but as he could have been the back up a bit better than what we have, whatever the case, he's going to be one of the better shooters in the country when he is finished. Larry Dana is our starting PG who will be well balanced for his four years here.. and he's got length at 6'5". Our RS Freshman, Damato has the potential to be one of the nastiest PF's in the game. He started his career off on a good note, beating up the opposing team by fouling out. He ended up with 6 points and 10 Reb at least. Then our two other 7 footers Levine and Lucero will be very good.. especially Lucero who will have EXCELLENT ability to score. Last edited by mauchow : 03-18-2013 at 11:07 PM. |

I feel like recruits are actually interested in me this year, which is nice with 5 schollies.
I kind of wish you could click on a player and it'd give you his statline from his entire career, year-by-year |

More or less just a bump... More than halfway through the season and I think we're starting to see the most active user-controlled teams have a decided advantage over the competition. Within a couple seasons I'm betting we'll start seeing multiple undefeateds and will need a tournament to decide the champion.
Another thing I think would be cool would be to have a mock draft of the graduating seniors at the end of the year based on their overall ratings and (to a lesser extent) their player rating from their final year. |

Biggest game of the season coming up Wednesday... The two highest rated teams: #1 Texarkana Tech at #4 Palm Desert.
Could make the National Title vote a 4 way conversation if we lose, as Paris Red Star and the Roswell 47ers both have 1 loss and Palm Desert is right behind with 2. I have no intentions of letting that happen though. |

I figured I may as well just go with all 64. Keeping tracks of the seeds and dynamically scheduling it is the biggest pain in the ass right now.

New season is up. I am almost certain Brent Fitzmaurice should be a redshirt Junior this year, as he was a RS Soph last year and redshirted the year before.

My SAU team dropped out of the #1 spot, despite being undefeated since the start of *last* season -- and despite playing plenty of human opponents.
*shurg* Still really enjoy the game & anticipate a possible tourney some day . . . . . |

We really do need a tournament- an 8-teamer would usually cover it, even. We have the 5 undefeated teams, Lancre has always been right there too, and Palm Desert & Llanelli are always competing with each other and a conference full of user teams. And Wisconsin State is also doing well in a user heavy conference. If we expanded the poll to 10, we could get a top 8 worthy of it. Wish it was this year though, the Bootleggers lead the nation in PPG, steals, blocks, and have 4 players in the top 11 for rating. But I'm graduating 6 seniors, so next year there's gonna be a drop off. And can we please get redshirting fixed so the players advance? I am so god-damn sick of Brent Fitzmaurice being on my team, he's a 7th year sophomore at this point and plays 1 minute a game because I feel bad for him. |

Great point, Simbo. 8 or 10 teams would be a vast improvement.
I mean, really, the rankings are purely at the whim of a handful of voters. I would hate to lose my grip on the top spot [as I apparently have] because two or three guys decided to vote differently. (And yeah, getting a fix for the redshirt thing would be great. Hell, I've only got one senior this year.) |

117 points in our final game of the season. Woot!
We return our highest scorer, a freshman, who was the 10th best in the country in PPG and 5th best in Assists per game. Come on down Silas Lorincz. Three more years! Maury Murphy and Dean Damato should be studs next season. They're both PF's who will start alongside each other next year as they're both 7' 1" tall. I recruited more developmental type players as we should be pretty well stacked for next season. |
