The 2048 NFL Preseason

I hand out rests and massage my depth chart.

I expect we’ll go 10-6 and have our first winning record with the Bucs in year 4. Gelenaw is better at KR now that Brandenfeis faded and I will start him there.

I extend Lemoine

Week 1 – At the Bills – My nemesis with the Jets! We win 29-21

Week 2 – Bye

Week 3 – Broncos – We lose 20-23

Week 4 – At the Dolphins – We lose 14-19

Week 5 – Raiders – We win 20-13

We are 2-2 in the preseason

Rookie Lookie #3

1.6 – CB Zach Foreman, Colombia, 50/85; 58/82; 59/84
2.4 – SS Drew Kempthorne, Georgia, 37/45; 44/52; 53/74
3.3 – FB Silas Bensen, West Virginia, 36/59; 42/63; 48/72
4.2 – RB Paxton Patterson, Virginia, 41/43; 42/47; 44/54
5.1 - OT Landon Horner, East Carolina, 29/45; 35/48; 38/58
6.5 – WR Ricardo Compton, Texas, 28/47; 30/47; 33/57
7.4 – CB Jerry Gionfriddo, Central Michigan, 21/44; 25/52; 24/34

Wow I thought Gionfriddo would boom and he fell hard. You can see booms for Bensen, Kempthorne, Patterson, Compton and Horner, so that’s good. And Foreman recovered!

Ufas

QB Kurt Buckner, 16/45; 20/39; 20/36
MLB Leo Adams, 24/69; 30/71; 30/69
DE Leslie Schneider, 33/59; 36/62; 38/55
Rb Eli Wodarz, 34/57; 37/56; 36/53
WILB Dan Sakry, 30/55; 33/51; 24/36
OG Axel Palmer, 14/49; 17/50; 19/51

And there we are!

I cut

QB Harry Terrell
RB Brad Kelly
R b Tre Hartman
CB Jerry Gionfriddo
SILB Bubba Keith
Fb Preston Particelli
WR Drake Storm

Extend Brandenfeis? Nope, he fell to 43/43

Any others? Schultz dropped to 45/45. Nope!

I have 70 mill in cap. Any two years players I want to extend now?

Qb Abrams,150 mill, 5 years – I do so. No others.

Rookies?

Here is my 1.5 pick, Foreman! As you can see, he’s very very very studly! No weaknesses, strong everywhere.

Here’s Kempthorne! He’s a weaker stud but still a stud! I was hoping for low 60s not low 70s, so he very nice. Welcome to the team!

Green Page? Just Foreman

Rookie Investigation

At RB, Patterson is 6th and Wodarz 8th

At Fb Bensen is the best and if he hits 72/72 then he’d be the best FB in the league! (He’s be a TE at 88% of his value so if I hadn’t signed a starter then I might move him to TE)

WR Compton is 4th best in potential

At OT Horner is 5th best. OT Haynes the 1.1 pick I was hoping would fall to 1.5 was 56/87 and the best player in the draft overall!

After booming MLB UFA Adams is tied for best pot. Two others also have 69 pot.

Foreman is the best CB and d back in the draft and the 2nd best player overall to Haynes. After booming, Kempthorne is the best S and the 3rd best d back in the draft. This was a deep d back draft and there are 1 80s, 4 70s and 6 more 60s.

The 2048 NFL Regular Season

Do you know what my least favorite part of FOFC is? Playing the season! I have to get through a mental block to do it.

Week 1 – At the Saints – Back on the road and in the NFC South! We win 24-21! Game MVP is Abrams, 18 of 28, 264 and 3:0. Cleghorn was 8 for 137 and 3 scores. Nasty! Lemoine was 26 for 106. Pick by ILB Carney.

Week 2 – At the Chiefs – We win 21-13. MVp is Abrams, 31 of 49, 334 and 1:0. TE Dixon the score. Poston was 5 for 6.. Picks by rookie Foreman and Boyd.

Week 3 – 49ers – We thump them 41-13. That is our first signature win! MVP is Abrams, 24 of 29, 240 and 4:0. Scores by Cleghorn, Wilcox, TE Flynn and RB Lemoine. Lemoine was 33 for 144 and 1 score. FF bY DE Densmore recovered by Carpenter. 2.5 sacks by Conyers.

We have two injuries – OG Coffey and ILB Willey. I massage my roster and starting is OG Palmer.

Week 4 – At DC – We win 16-10. Abrams, MVp, 17 of 27, 136, 1:0. Wilcox the score. 2 picks by Davidson. 3 FF by Boyd, Hopkins and Carney and recoveries by Hopkins, Densmore. 4 KRB by OT Shannon

We are 4-0!

Stats

Offensive

Passing

QB Abrams – 404 of 612, 4258 yards, 26:11, 92.7 rating

Those are all great stats by him. He was top in rating, 2nd in yards, 2nd in completion %, tied for 1st in TDs, and has a very strong season! Well I don’t have to worry about him like Pritchett who never actually did anything and I had to win through RB Bonnell. Great job Abrams and I’m glad I signed you to a 150 mill 5 year deal before the season because my guess is that after the NFL MVP and other awards he’d want more like 200.

Rushing

RB Lemoine – 381 for 1370, 3.60 ypc, 10 scores

That was tops in attempts, yards, and 2nd in scores. That was a horrible ypc performance. We have to get that up a 381 rush season should be getting in around 1500 yards.

Receiving

I bet Wilcox was happy to sign with us and get another 580 yards, 6 scores, and get another postseason run to his credit. Cleghorn’s 1381 yards off 117 and 10 scores was 4th in yards and tied for 2nd in scores. TE Flynn added 695 yards as my top TE which is a solid number.

Blocking

Here you go with my blocking! It was a very down year for us as you can see. We have to do better here and it may start with me grabbing better O Line. I might make that a point of emphasis next year.

Special Teams

K Poston – 39 of 43, 34 of 46 PAT, Long of 58

Much more improved year! Good job Poston!

P Holdgate – 83 punts, 49.3 avg, 32 in 20

That’s the best Average again and it rose from last year. Dude is nasty

We had 0 returns for scores this year

Defense

Butler led my team in tackles with a nasty 114. Welcome to the club my WILB! SILB Carney was 2nd. A nasty 7 sacks by Hopkins, but Carpenter was held sackless and he dropped to 62/62 this year so my guess is that Adams will start there for him next year barring a stud that can change my 3-4 team;s heartbeat. As for D Line fun times, Pinkney another 8.5 sacks and Conyers with 5.5 and was stymied. We had an injury to Drew mid year so that position rotated over, no judgment here.

Pass Coverage

Several players grabbed 3 picks including rookie Foreman. I still need more pasdef from my club.

The 2049 NFL FA Period #1

My goal this draft is to target OGs and OTs at the back of the 1st round, likely the former rather than the latter. We draft 1.28. I interview OTs and Ogs but I doubt the good ones will fall. I interview a few others that may be there at the back of the 1st.

I have 39 under contract but I make offers to my RFAs of quality. I am at 46 players and I have 58 mill in cap space to play around with.

I extend my K, P, and LS which are all needed

Before planning my extensions I fast forward and look at who is available in FA

RB Anderson is back and got cut after his big 80 mill contract last year but I won’t make a play for him

I won’t be making any offers to anyone out there.

CB Gelenaw wants 25 mill for 4 years. Nope. DE Densmore wants way too much as well. I won’t be keeping any of my players, so all of my free cap can be used on extensions.

Final Years of Note

SE Braxton Wilcox

Old Rookies

OG Coffey – 9 mill 2 years
OT Shannon – 45 mill 4 years
NT Newman – 64 mill, 4 years
WLB Hopkins – 50 mill, 3 years
FS Boyd – 47 mill, 4 years

That’s a lot for Hopkins. I’ll hold off on these for now. I may draft replacements

Week 2 – Anderson signs back with the Panthers, Densmore heads to Dallas

See you at the draft!

The 2049 NFL Amateur Draft

Picking at the 1.1 spot is the Cleveland Browns who take DT Lewis Migette

Our pick arrives at 1.28 and who do I like?

SLB Rex Madison, very underrated, top player on the board, stud
DE Kenneth Davis – 4th best player on the board, Hard to Read, weak bars

All of the OGs I interviewed are gone. Two OTs are left but they are very overrated and overrated and don’t even have good bars to begin with.

I’m probably going with Madison, here let me show you

Look at this guy! He’s a hoss already by bars with weakness (sorta) in zone D. And he’s very underrated as well? A guy this developed who grows in camp could be the best player in the draft and he feels like a homerun. Now the position of least need is LB. but Madison could be my Burkley or my Norton that will unlock power of my defense. Carpenter is 31 years old and a 9th year vet and he dropped to 62/62 last year. Hopkins wants way too much money to keep for a mid-50s WLB so I’ll likely be moving on from him. I have Adams, Carney and Hunter and then add in this stud at SLB? He seems like the best choice.

So let me think about it and I’ll come back and see where I am with him later. This isn't a position of need, and I might want to reach for O Line.

I still could use DE as this is Conyers’ last year and I am going to be letting him go. Maybe I want to do DE Davis or something else?

I take Madison. He’s too temping not to!

2nd Round - Who’s still on the board? Let me check! How about OT Randy Blair? He’s very green!

3rd Round – I draft KR/PR WR named Brian Langlois to replace Brandenfeis.

4th Round – How about FS Darren Arpaijian? He’s doesn’t look that bad. Sorta like a potential grower.

5th Round – NT Emmitt Morton doesn’t look too bad although he’s more of a run stopper.

6th Round – Hmmm…not sure. I still need a 4th TE. How about Gary Benson? He also looks like a grower.

7th Round – How about DE Cory Lang? He has nice bars for the back of the 7th.

Rookie Lookie #1

1.28 – SLB Rex Madison, Kutztown, 53/89
2.28 – OT Randy Blair, NC State, 23/61
3.28 – WR Brian Langlois, California, 28/39
4.28 – FS Darren Arpaijian, Michigan State, 21/37
5.28 – NT Emmitt Morton, Liberty, 33/62
6.28 – TE Gary Benson, Oregon State, 21/41
7.28 - DE Cory Lang, Duke, 24/58

And there you are! Man I hope Madison breaks out as his potential shows and plays up to it!

The 2049 NFL FA Period #2

It’s probably time to replace Holdgate as he has faded to 52/52 and 87 kicking power from 100.

I have 53 under contract

I need a better LS, mine the long snapping has dropped to 88/100.

I make offers to these UFAs

QB Ray Santana
OT Carlton Hoke
P Terrance Bruce – he looks like a grower
LS Aces Kinney
WR Denzel Pujols
OC Edwin Johanningmeier – I love that last name!
DE Maxwell Cook
SILB Chase Whiting
Cb Raymond Fletcher

Week 1 – Woodard signs with the Falcons. We sign 1

Week 2 – Tito Bobo signs with DC. We sign 6. Brandenfeis is heading to the Chargers

Week 3 – We sign 2. Everyone signs.

Week 4 – Schultz signs with Cincinnati

UFAs

QB Ray Santana, 14/46
OT Carlton Hoke, 19/47
P Terrance Bruce, 41/42
LS Aces Kinney, 21/21
WR Denzel Pujols, 23/49
OC Edwin Johanningmeier, 14/58
DE Maxwell Cook, 14/49
SILB Chase Whiting, 21/52
Cb Raymond Fletcher, 18/53

There you go!

I feel like camping…

Rookie Lookie #2

1.28 – SLB Rex Madison, Kutztown, 53/89; 61/92
2.28 – OT Randy Blair, NC State, 23/61; 29/63
3.28 – WR Brian Langlois, California, 28/39; 29/38 – 52/74 PR and 66/80 KR.

5.28 – NT Emmitt Morton, Liberty, 33/62; 37/61
6.28 – TE Gary Benson, Oregon State, 21/41; 25/43
7.28 - DE Cory Lang, Duke, 24/58; 26/41

That’s a big bust by Lang! I was hoping Arpaijian would boom but he’s going in the wrong direction. Good job at growing Madison! Langlois looks good as a returner but not much else.

UFAs

QB Ray Santana, 14/46; 17/43
OT Carlton Hoke, 19/47; 23/49
P Terrance Bruce, 41/42; 46/46

Who do I want to extend? I have 62 mill in cap space – Wilcox dropped to 47/47 so not him. I extend OG Coffey, S Boyd, and NT Newman.

Anyone with 2 years left I want to extend? Cleghorn wants 118 mill over 4 years so I would only get two. Nope. I sign OC Macias.

I do not extend Wilcox, Conyers, Davidson, Nemecheck, Hopkins, and Shannon.

Wanna see my top two rookies?

Sure!

Isn’t he a brute? Nasty right! If he plays up to his ability the world will end.

Here’s the booming Blair. He’s a well rounded but green guy and a quality addition near the back of the 2nd round. I likes him a lot if, again, he plays to his ability.

On the Green Page are both Blair and Madison.

Rookie Investigation –

Madison is the best potential player in the draft at 91. The next best is DE Lewis Midgette taken 1.1 who is 69/90.

At WR Langlois is 19th best. But he’s one of the best returners.

At OC, our UFA Johanningmeier is 3rd best.

At OT, Blair is 3rd after his growth

Bruce is the best P

NT Morton is the 6th best

Madison is obviously the best LB

Arpaijian is the 6th best S.

There you are!

Stats

Offensive

Passing

QB Abrams – 341 of 518, 3625, 24:7, 95.9 rating

This was a down year in yards and TDs but it was his best rating which led the league.

Rushing

RB Lemoine – 339 for 1161, 3.42 ypc,8 scores. He was 5th in yards not sure why he got an All Pro.

Receiving

Cleghorn had a down year as you can see, although Abrams had a down year so that’s probably why. Vila had a solid year with 767 yards and 75 snags, and Flynn was great!

Blocking

Macias was my team leader with KRB and locked in just 2 sacks which is pretty good. His All Pro is the first for someone on my line in 5 years with the Bucs, but this was a down year.

Special Teams

K Poston - 32 of 40, Long of 55, 43 of 43 PAT

I love the PAT % but that was too many missed FGS

P Bruce – 97 punts, 43.9 avg, 25 in 20

Not great stats for my rookie

Langlois had 1 PR RET TD.

Defense

Kempthorne led my team with 100 tackles and Madison was right behind him with 99. Madison rocked 5.5 sacks was my best LB in the sacks. Pinkney led my team with 12 sacks. Pinkney led my team with 5 FF.

Pass Coverage

Kempthorne led my team in 7 picks as well as the league and his 10 pasdef tied the best on my team. Madison was 2nd with 5 picks and 3 pick sixes. Foreman 3rd with 4 picks.

Off. Player of the Year – TE Carter Flynn - Despite his experience and quality, this is Flynn’s first All Pro. Good job!

Def. Player of the Year – SS Drew Kempthorne – He led the league in picks and got my first All Pro for S in a long long time. Davidson with his obscene pick numbers doesn’t have a single All Pro. Good job!

Special Teams Player of the Year – LB Allen Nemecheck – 26 special teams tackles, 3 FF, great job!

Rookie of the Year – SLB Rex Madison – Duh! During this entire dynasty I’ve only had three DPotY;s – DE Rieke, DE Shea, and now SLB Madison, and he is the first one not a DE. Nasty right? Right! Like I’ve said, a stud SLB will unlock a 3-4 as you just saw. Compare our All Pros on defense this year to last…

Heart Award – SS Morris Davidson – My nickelback notched 2 picks, 6 pasdef, 2 sacks, 1 FF. Good job old man!

We draft 1.31. I’d still like to target an OG here to improve myself. We have a poor class though so not this year. I interview some folks. Maybe a CB will drop for my open hole. I interview 5 OTs I could draft and then move over.

These are our UFas

Nemecheck
Wilcox
Davidson
Shannon
Conyers
Butler
TE Chandler

I have 66 mill available for new players. I may have been mistaken in letting Nemecheck walk as he’s great at special teams and he’s a suitable 55/55 as a backup and notched 4.5 sacks last year in a backup role. I’ll see what he wants and if it’s fair I may make an offer.

But first we have some business and it’s called Cleghorn. This double All Pro in three years needs to be resigned. For how much? 158 mill and 5 years? That’s a lot, but we have to make it so.

Who else is left to resign?

RB Cesar Lemoine – Dropped to 58/58, wants 53 mill over 4 years, reduce this year’s cap hit by 3 mill

SLB Carpenter – We’ll let the 10 year vet leave

TE Dixon – We’ll let him go as well

OT Hymes – wants 71 mill for 4 years, cost rise this year of 4 mill

NT Drew - - wants 18 mill for 4 years, has dropped into the high 50s. No thanks

WR Vila – Wants 77 mill over 5 years. Too pricey, but I do like him.

SILB Carney – Wants 55 mill over 3 years, Pricey

CB Miller – Despite 49/49, wants 42 mill over 4 years

I have 49 mill in cash. I will wait until post draft for Hymes as I could draft his replacement.

I might run into a better RB in the draft, as well as LB for Carey so I’ll hold off for now on all of these

Anyone I want to chase?

Nemecheck – 14 mill, 3 years – I make the offer and add 2 mill bonus

I am not chasing anyone else

Week 2 – Shannon signs with Denver.

Week 4 – Conyers signs with Greenville

Week 6 – Nemecheck resigns!

Week 7 – Wilcox signs with the Jets

Week 8 – Hopkins signs with the Bills

Let’s go drafting!!!

The 2050 NFL Amateur Draft

Are you ready? Let’s get ‘er done!

Drafting in the first spot are the Jags and they select QB Tristan Barlow

I fast forward to the 1.31 spot.

Who is available?

OT Keegan Briley, As Scouted – fine blocking skills, horrible endurance
OG Eugene Barlow – great run blocking, horrible pass, Hard to Read
OG Dusty Upshaw – Same bars but worse at run blocking as Barlow, As scouted
OG Eugene Tubbs – Better bars and more consistent but we have not interviewed Tubbs.
OT Earnest Farmer – Worst stat is run blocking which is average, but grows from there. Hard to Read
WLB Andres Arellano – Best player on the board, no interviews, and looks okay but not Madison-esque.
CB Brian King – Top D Back on the board and 5th overall player but bad bars. No interview.
CB Louis Parsley – Much better bars, no interview either.

There is an outside the box option, TE Wally Hammond who looks pretty good. No interview.

Arellano isn’t as good as Madison but with Carpenter’s drop Carney likely leaving barring a big contract, Arellano could be my replacement. But I really need a new OG.

So who do I want? Barlow? Briley? Farmer? Arellano? Tubbs? Maybe Hammond? Parsley?

I am a 3-4 and I can’t pass up great LBs. I do Arellano.

No interview but he’s the top player on the board and should play well for me!

2.31 – Who do I like here? I need a new backup WR since Vila is leaving at the end of the year and I could grab WR Billy Shelton. WR Vinny Mimick looks pretty solid as well if I want to dig into that route. OT Lenny Armour is a pass blocking specialist but could be a hold over for me until I find a better option. Parsley is still on the board so do I want to go with him at CB? I go CB!

3.31 – How about near the back of the third? How about WR Adam Henderson?

4.31 – How about here? I need a backup Qb better than my UFAs and only two have gone. I grab QB Dominic Tewkesbury. He’s very green but he’ll get some development time.

5.31 – What do I want to do here? DE Denzel Lemons? He’s good at everything save for pass rush, which is probably why he fell this far down the draft. I grab him.

6.31 – Or here? How about OT Shane Bauer? I select him.

7.31 – The penultimate pick of the 2050 draft is here and who do I like? NT Jamie Williamson? Cb Grayson Madison? I go NT.

Rookie Lookie #1

1.31 – WLB Andres Arellano, UCLA, 39/66
2.31 – CB Louis Parsley, Oklahoma State, 30/56
3.31 – WR Adam Henderson, Northwestern, 39/56
4.31 – QB Dominic Tewksbury, New Mexico, 8/48
5.31 – DE Denzel Lemons, Notre Dame, 29/53
6.31 – OT Shane Bauer, NC State, 23/41
7.31 – NT Jamie Williamson, California, 26/61

There you are!

Two move votes were held this offseason

Minnesota is moving to Richmond
Cleveland is not heading to Memphis

I have 52 mil under contract.

I head back to extension for my folks – anyone I wanna extend?

Here are my keys

Lemoine – I will let him go as I have Wodarz who is 52/58. I extend Wodarz for 4 years, 12 mill

Hymes – 68 mill, 4 years is his new demand… I keep him in his final year and then I can franchise him next year to see if I grab a replacement in the draft. This was a horrible O Line draft.

Vila – I’ll let go

Will Carney – I extend for 52 mill and 3 years

How about 2 years left? Those are Kempthorne and Foreman.

Foreman – 144 mill, 5 years – Wow – I’ll hold off

Kempthorne – 68 mill, 4 years - Done

Wanna see my top two rookies?

Here is Arellano who I am starting at WLB rather than Adams or my lost Hopkins. He’s solid everywhere save for play D.

Here’s my 2nd rounder CB Parsley, who is a decently well rounded CB on everything save for play D as well. He winds up a solid at the punching and the picking as well and is starting across from Foreman.

The 2050 Regular Season

I think we’ll go 13-3. We were 13-2-1 in 2048 and 14-2 last year. Still no Super Bowl victory though… will 2050 be the year the Bucs take it all home? Let’s find out!

Week 1 – Carolina – We open with a home NFC South game! Can we win against our old team the Panthers? We have 5 questionables and 1 doubtful coming out of the preseason by the by. We win 21-3. Game MVP is Lemoine with 21 of 63, 2 scores. Abrams is 22 of 35, 230 and 1:1. Score by Flynn. We had 4 picks – 2 by Butler, 1 by DE Jordon and one by Boyd.
