SV Kampong - After the Beginning (FM16)
Playing at the fourth level of Dutch soccer, SV Kampong has been amateur and obscure for well over a century. Blessed with some talented players for their level at the start of the 2015-16, a couple of them got stolen away. And of course, there were a lot of obscure greyshirts the first few games. The record to date: A first round exit in the Dutch Cup, 0-1 in extra time on a penalty kick. A 2-0 road win at Zuidvogels and a heroic 3-3 comeback home draw vs Leerdam Sport '55. A flurry of signings at the transfer deadline finally purged all the greyshirts, giving them a complete roster ahead of their next game. Most of this roster is new blood from the transfer deadline. The two stars worth talking about: ST Derk Schut - 31 - Dutch 1 goal and 2 assists thus far, the team captain has 1 goal and 2 assists with an excellent all-around game for this level - including everything but Jumping despite his age. With the transfers comes a 4-2-4 setup and a Defensive Forward role. AMLR Achmed Ahahaoui - 31 - Moroccan Like Schut, a superlative all-around player who has occupied ML and MR spots before the 4-2-4 experiment. Despite not fitting on the lower wings, he's averaged an 8.1 rating at those two spots the first two games. Both players were originals. ST Rico Leocadio - 24 - Cape Verdean The most intriguing of the transfer arrivals, he's taking over the Poacher role, and his 2013-14 showing of 10 goals in 15 appearances in the Portuguese Third Division speaks of much promise in the youngster, who reportedly has 3.5* potential. More will be introduced if their play merits it. @ Roda '46 (4th) G: Dammes Waasdorp D: Tom Romeyn/Bastin Verweij/Thomas Van Hees/Casper van Oosterom MC: Max Oostenrijk/Jeroen Folkers AMLR: Bas Smulders/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Rico Leocadio/Derk Schut 23 - Ahahaoui clears a corner, runs it all the way down the right flank, and then cracks a high cross to the opposite side. The ball falls at the feet of streaking Leocadio, and the Cape Verdean rewards my instinct to start him with the debut goal!!! 1-0 25 - Missed tackles galore en route to an immediate pegback 1-1 54 - Erwin van der Klis goes on for Schut, while just yellow-carded Oostenrijk is out in exchange of Joris van Rooijen Two seeming star transfers come in: Amar in particular looks incredible. The teenager still needs to learn Dutch, however. He was a castoff from Vitesse in the top league. Right now he has just a basic understanding of the language. VDL drifted through the top leagues as a failed prospect too (Ajax and FC Utretcht) and returns home to Kampong, where he played in 2010-11. vs sv ARC (2nd) G: Dammes Waasdorp D: Tom Van Den Linden/Jerrold van den Eeckhout/Bastin Verweij/Casper van Oosterom MC: Amar Sedjic[b/Jeroen Folkers AMLR: Bas Smulders/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Rico Leocadio/Derk Schut 15 - Nobody got back on defense [b]0-1[/.b] 30 - Beautiful goal by Schut disallowed because of a push 51 - Oostenrijk for Folkers and MC switch 55 - Smulders gets a corner clearance and passes back to Sedjic in the box. Tapoff to Ahahaoui and the shot is blocked but the ball squirts loose and Schut puts the equalizer away 1-1 63 - Ahahaoui switches over to AML and Steve Strijk comes in at AMR @ FC Breukelen (1st) vs sv ARC (2nd) G: Dammes Waasdorp D: Tom Van Der Linden/Jerrold van den Eeckhout/Bastin Verweij/Casper van Oosterom MC: Jeroen Folkers/Rodi de Beor AMLR: Bas Smulders/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Rico Leocadio/Derk Schut 8 - These guys are the class of the league and we have zero shot at beating them 0-1 We surprisingly make a game of it, losing 2-3. But we still haven't gotten a win since the pre-profiling time. Hopefully the team just needs time to gel together. Our Bosnian was off on U-21 duties, by the way.

G: Dammes Waasdorp D: Tom van der Linden/Jerrold van den Eeckhout/Thomas van Hees/Casper van Oosterom MC: Max Oostenrijk/Amar Sedjic AMLR: Bas Smulders/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Joreilly Chirino/Derk Schut Joreilly Chirino is a 28 year old Curacaon striker. We're trying different combinations, trying to find the right form guys to make this work. 24 - Oostenrijk is sent off with a second yellow. 27 - Yeah. 0-1 38 - Sedjic with the gorgeous boom ball down the pitch to Schut. Double team goes in and he passes to Chirino for the debut goal! 1-1 52 - Romeyn at DL; Ahahaoui to AML and Strijk in at AMR 66 - 1-2 67 - Schut with the freek, Eeckhout heads it in the box to Hees whose header is defected, but Romeyn is there to sink it 2-2 @ CSW (6th) G: Dammes Waasdorp D: Tom Van Den Linden/Jerrold van den Eeckhout/Bastin Verweij/Casper van Oosterom MC: Jeroen Folkers/Amar Sedjic AMLR: Bas Smulders/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Joreilly Chirino/Derk Schut 40 seconds - der Linden throws in to Smulders and gets it back. The cross takes a favorable bounce and Ahahaoui is able to put it away for what feels like our first lead of the season 1-0 28 - Waasdorp finally makes a stop and hammers it left flank to Smulders. He's able to beat the defender and box delivery sees a beautiful shot by Chirino to give us insurance! 2-0 51 - Our guys couldn't back fast enough after the deflection 2-1 53 - Folkers sits for Rooijen, who is on his way out at the transfer deadline because of whining about PT. Van der Linden is out with Romeyn in. Achmed Ahahoui takes home PotM honors with a 7.6 as we finally snap the streak and walk out with a victory. Not that it does much. We move up to 6th of 10 teams, and that 1st place team is currently 8-0-0 and will assuredly be the only team going up to the next level.

vs vv Almerk (8th)
G: Dammes Waasdorp D: Tom Van Der Linden/Jerrold van den Eeckhout/Bastin Verweij/Casper van Oosterom MC: Jeroen Folkers/Amar Sedjic AMLR: Achmed Ahahaoui/Sven Strijk ST: Joreilly Chirino/Derk Schut 53 seconds - Chirino sprays it out on the wing to Strijk, who is a MR, not AMR, but starting due to injury to Smulders, which forced Ahahaoui to AML. Anyway, he dribbles, then crosses it into the box, where Chirino continues to show Curacao fire! 1-0 11 - Strijk flares it down the right flank ahead of Schut. Pickup and shoot. Deflection. But the ball comes back to our captain and the defense can't recover in time to prevent the rebound 2-0 46 - Waasdorp rushes the kick and sends it right back to them. Boom, 25 yarder before half. 2-1 48 - Sedjick far post corners and Ahahoui slams it in. I feel like we'll need because of how bad our backline has played 3-1 55 - van Hees for Verwij, the usual Romeyn jump in at DL 58 - van Eeckhout actually makes a header and nods it to Sedjic for a gorgeous rainbow right to Schut's feet in the box. Slam, bam, thank you ma'am!!! 4-1 62 - Waasdor is awful at long-range defending, giving up a free kick 4-2 86 - Zero excuse for that shitty, shitty defense. 4-3 89 - Ahahaoui bails us out with a couple interceptions, and on the latter, he wings out to Strijk for the deep box dribble. Two defenders close in, but he has all the time to cross to Chirino for the game saver. 5-3 Our offense was incredible. Our defense is ugly. Up to 5th, and I'm thinking we've got a reasonable shot at 3rd or 4th in the division if we can get a backbone worth talking about. @ VVZ '49 (2nd) G: Dammes Waasdorp D: Tom Van Den Linden/Jerrold van den Eeckhout/Bastin Verweij/Casper van Oosterom MC: Max Oostenrijk/Amar Sedjic AMLR: Bas Smulders/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Joreilly Chirino/Derk Schut 51 seconds - Sedjic makes a takeaway (I will do whatever I can to sign our Bosnian teen when we're no longer amateur) and wings right to Schut. Fire bomb down the pitch, where Chirino beats the defender and passes right into open box space, and it's.... HOLY COW IT'S SEDJIC CHARGING IN FOR HIS FIRST EVER KAMPONG SCORE!!! 1-0 37 - My boy Sedjic makes a goal-saving pickoff deep in our half and taps back to Waasdorp. Jackhammer down the middle of the pitch sees the ball bounce to Chirino, and the Curacao veteran muscles past *two* defenders and hits the go-ahead goal. Never thought he'd emerge as the star but here we are. 2-0 40 - Some pass buildup at midfield until Van der Linden corks it long to Chirino in the box. Dribble and spear diagonal shot, and whoop whoop tally it up! 3-0 It's been a garbage day for Schut, so he sits at half and we're going to fake them out of their tactical shorts by bringing Leocadio in and arranging a striker switch. 90 - Chirino flares the ball right and forward, where Leocadio takes it and dribbles into the box, showing the flailing would-be tackler his cleats en route to a power shot 4-0 Our most complete win yet. But we're not done - we bring in a couple new starters on paper: A new DC and new AMR and we inject some much needed youth on what is overall a pretty old squad. vs ASC Nieuwland (11th) G: Dammes Waasdorp D: Jerrold van den Eeckhout/Robin Hoekstra/Bastin Verweij/Casper van Oosterom MC: Jeoren Folkers/Amar Sedjic AMLR: Achmed Ahahaoui/Hedzer Prins ST: Joreilly Chirino/Derk Schut One DL suspended, one injured, so we have to play someone out of position in what will officially be our halfway mark of the season. We've cavalry arriving on the opening of the transfer deadline (a ton of dudes are coming, almost all defenders). Let's just hope our opponents are bad enough to where it doesn't matter. 10 - Schut dribbles into the box from the half-circle and makes a clumsy attempt to pass that's intercepted. Team captain makes up for his mistake by pancaking the defender and firing in a shot to keep the Cape Verdean 24 year old on the bench. 1-0 52 - Leocadio in for Chirino, who has just been pure garbage today. 55 - Prins shoots it down the right line for Schut and the keeper's attempt to intercept the ground cross sees him miss. Leocadio continues to be super striker sub with the insurance score 2-0 61 - Van Hees goes in for Hoekstra, who wants a break. 86 - I'm going to be pissed if we blow this... 2-1 Fortunately we don't, but it's the kind of game where Derk Schrut's 7.4 is good enough for PotM. Halfway Standings: So yeah, zero chance of catching first place, but we're in position where we could be runners-up, which would be pretty awesome, considering our slow start to the year.

Glad to be back! It's always a bit slow grinding up for Amateur sides because of all the signings that need to be done, but here I am. None of these guys are what you would call standout signings, but all three should be starters who patch up weak areas on the squad. vs Zuidvogels (7th) G: Dammes Waasdorp D: Brian-Paul Tesselaar/Robin Hoekstra/Sefa Kurt/Thomas van der Linden MC: Pascal Hettinga/Amar Sedjic AMLR: Achmed Ahahaoui/Hedzer Prins ST: Joreilly Chirino/Derk Schut van der Linden is training at DR and Casper is out on suspension anyway. 42 - Chirino passes right to Sedjic for the box feed to Prins. First touch cross and Ahahaoui puts it away 1-0 Chirino is out at half for Leocadio. Might be time to make that switch on a starting basis. Robin Hoekstra and Amar Sedjic put up matching 7.4s, with the Bosnian winning PotM. Not a great win, but it's there. @ Leerdam Sport '55 (10th) G: Dammes Waasdorp D: Brian-Paul Tesselaar/Robin Hoekstra/Sefa Kurt/Casper Van Oosterom MC: Pascal Hettinga/Amar Sedjic AMLR: Achmed Ahahaoui/Hedzer Prins ST:Rico Leocadio/Joreilly Chirino Injury in the last friendly took out Derk Schrut for this one, so it's our international men both up front. 22 seconds - God, I love Sedjic. He runs his ass off back to get a loose ball, then sends it right past the defender to Prins, who dribbles in and scores so fast other soccer players say DAMN! for his first Kampong score. 1-0 3 - Tesselaar throws in to Leocadio in the box. Double-team charges in, so he kicks back to Ahahaoui, who shows great skills for an old man, blistering the double team and delivering to Chirino for a practical walk-in score. 2-0 5 - Hettinga straight ahead pass to Sedjic and a perfect box feed to Prins. Cross and Ahahaoui puts it away. We're putting on a show here, folks! 3-0 Yeah, we totally coasted on that 3 goals in 5 minutes insanity, but it worked. At the close of the transfer window, we pick up a couple more upgrades: Bartek turned out way better than I expected, and the 22 year old Pole, who was languishing on That Unbeatable Team Atop Our Division, immediately steps in as the #1 shirt. Netjas is an immediate now upgrade at DR. vs Roda '46 (2nd) G: Bartek Pakiela D: Brian-Paul Tesselaar/Robin Hoekstra/Sefa Kurt/Arjan Netjes MC: Pascal Hettinga/Amar Sedjic AMLR: Bas Smulders/Hedzer Prins ST:Joreilly Chirino/Derk Schut Notice someone missing? That's right - Ahahaoui is out a month with injury, and AML is the one area we haven't really invested in depth that I should have. Oops. 50 - Folkes in for Hettinga 54 - Leocadio replaces Chirino 70 - Sedjic takes part in a triple gang tackle deep in our territory and wins it. Pass to Schut for the bomb that connects with Leocadio and he runs by the defender to slam in the go-ahead score in a dull game! 1-0 Rico Leocadio carries us to victory with his 8.1 sub showing, the only one worthy of note in this ugly, ugly win. Still, 3 points is 3 points. My name is coming up for a lot of job openings, but you know that never, ever goes well.

As long as I don't do anything stupid like switch jobs voluntarily, we should be good. :P @ ARC (4th) G: Bartek Pakiela D: Brian-Paul Tesselaar/Robin Hoekstra/Sefa Kurt/Arjan Netjes MC: Pascal Hettinga/Jeoren Folkers AMLR: Achmed Ahahaoui/Hedzer Prins ST: Rico Leocadio/Joreilly Chirino Our Bosnian star and team captain are both out on yellows today, but the Moroccan ageless wonder returns to the lineup after injury. 49 - We switch to a 4-2-1-3 Narrow, with Van der Linden in at DR, Oostenrijk on as AMC, and Prins switching to a Defensive Forward in the middle, Ahahaoui heading to the bench. Tough, but understandable draw. We were actually underdogs in this one. Youth Intake Because we have no U18 squad, everyone is auto-signed. They all suck except for Leo van Meulen, who can play all along the left side and might have a viable future as a rotational piece. We'll try him out as a sub anyway due to versatility. vs FC Breukelen (1st) G: Bartek Pakiela D: Tom van der Linden/Robin Hoekstra/Sefa Kurt/Arjan Netjes MC: Max Oostenrijk/Amar Sedjic AMLR: Achmed Ahahaoui/Hedzer Prins ST: Rico Leocadio/Joreilly Chirino If we want even faint hope of somehow sneaking the title, we have to win here and do it without team captain Derk Schrut who is out a month and a half with training injury. 12 - They beat a triple team and a double team. That's how good they are. 0-1 26 - Prins hugs the right sideline and sends it to Sedjic just in the box. Somehow he threads the needle in getting it to Chirino. Our Curacao man was denied by the post first go round, but he converts the slow rolling equalizer in the driving rain this time. 1-1 van Oosterom takes over for Kurt at one of the DC spots at half. Kurt gave up a goal and has been getting hammered repeatedly today. 51 - Van der Linden throws in to Ahahaoui and accepts the return. Gorgeous cross connects with flying Chirino for his second goal and we go ahead!!! 2-1 57 - De Boer subs in for Oostenrijk. As great as he's been shooting, Chirino has been ghastly at passing in this downpour. 67 - Gut says to give van der Meulen his debut in our biggest game of the year at AML. No pressure, kid! 82 - God damn corner defense. 2-2 86 - ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!?! NETJES JUST PASSED LAZILY LIKE HE HAD MONEY AGAINST US AND WE FUCKING BLOW A FUCKING 2-1 LEAD IN ALL OF 5 MINUTES!!! 2-3 I ream Netjes for ruining our 9 game unbeaten streak and his sloppy ass passes. That asshole's response? "I'm a defender, not a midfielder." Then when I told him he was still shit at his performance last game, he just shrugged. If he wasn't so obviously our best right back, I'd cut his ass right now.

On the cross, Chirino fakes out the keeper, allowing Prins to step forward for the score 1-0 39 - Out goes Prins with injury. Ahahaoui switches to AMR and Van der Meulen gets his second action in as many games. 57 - Van der Klis makes a rare appearance, subbing in for Leocadio 68 - Van der Meulen passes to Van der Klis, then runs ahead for the return pass. Center to Chirino and we bag the insurance on the Curacao striker's 10th goal of the year. 2-0 71 - I hate our second half defense. 2-1 We narrowly gave up the equalizer with seconds to go, but escape with a win we don't deserve. Hedzer Prins's 7.1 in 39 minutes is good enough for PotM. Lovely. So Hezer Prins is out 2 months. Joeren Folkers got injured last time and I forgot to mention that's a 7-8 month injury. We're getting smacked late by the injury bug. FC Breukelen officially clinches the title to no one's shock. vs CSW (8th) G: Bartek Pakiela D: Tom van der Linden/Bastin Verweij/Sefa Kurt/Arjan Netjes MC: Rodi de Beor/Amar Sedjic AMLR: Leo van der Meulen/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Rico Leocadio/Joreilly Chirino I ream the team at half for their sleep-walking display. There's still second to play for, guys! 47 - Chirino's wing out right is high, but Ahahaoui leaps it up to knock it down with his head, then runs to get the ball and deliver it to Sedjic, my favorite player ever, in the box. 1-0 52 - Romeyn and van Oosterom take over at DL and DC respectively, Verweij yanked after his yellow. 55 - Luckiest post bounce ever. I'm stunned that didn't go into the net. They get a few more chances, but we hold them off. Amar Sedjic bailed us out big-time on this one with his 7.9 PotM. Another scrappy 3 points we didn't really earn. @ vv Almkerk (9th) G: Bartek Pakiela D: Brian-Paul Tesselaar/Robin Hoekstra/Sefa Kurt/Arjan Netjes MC: Pascal Hettinga/Amar Sedjic AMLR: Leo van der Meulen/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Joreilly Chirino/Derk Schut 3 games left and we can't finish any worse than 4th, which is an amazing accomplishment considering how hard it was for us to find wins at the beginning of the season. We've also got our team captain back, yay! 4 - Ahahaoui is on the right flank. Defender comes in and our Moroccan Old Man sends a power pass that drills between three defenders in the box to Chirino's feet, and Curacao nets another goal to his tally 1-0 58 - Leocadio in for Schut and striker switch; Romeyn for Tesselaar 72 - Hoekstra intercepts a long pass after his own pass was intercepted, first touch jamming it to the right flank whereupon Ahahaoui dribbles and crosses. van der Meulen is hammered to the ground and the ball goes loose. Chirino sneaks in for his second goal and Oosterom jogs in for tired Hoekstra after the insurance. 2-0 85 - Rare bad pass by Ahahaoui and a screamer longball gets them back in. 2-1 Joreilly Chirino takes home PotM with 8.8, and despite his miscue, Achmed Ahahaoui breaks the 7.5 barrier. vs VVZ '49 (5th) G: Bartek Pakiela D: Tom van der Linden/Robin Hoekstra/Sefa Kurt/Arjan Netjes MC: Pascal Hettinga/Amar Sedjic AMLR: Leo van der Meulen/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Joreilly Chirino/Derk Schut 14 - My boy Sedjic snags a clearance and wings out to Ahahaoui. The veteran passes into box space and team captain Schut steps up for the gorgeous diagonal shot for his first goal after his injury layoff 1-0 Sedjic twisted his knee, so we go with a 4-1-5 Wide at half, with Leocadio coming in as the third striker up front. 71 - van Oosterom subs in for Hoekstra at DC at the latter's request. 77 - Sigh. 1-1 80 - Leocadio blasts the ever-living hell out of the ball into wide-open box space. Chirino is first to the ball and runs into the box, sinking the snapback. Romeyn is in as our last sub at DL 2-1 91 - Romeyn makes me look brilliant with the interception and pass to Leocadio at midfield. He has all the time in the world before he passes to Schut for the out right into space. Ahahaoui gets it and crosses. Keeper tries to stop it but he can't hang on to the ball and Schut is there first to sink the empty netter and lock up the win and 2nd place! 3-1 8.9 and PotM for Achmed Ahahaoui, 8.8 for Derk Schut, and 7.6 for Joreilly Chirino. Sitting next game will be Sefa Kurt, who has been on my staff's shitlist anyway and played an awful 6.2 this outing. @ ASC Nieuwland (10th) G: Bartek Pakiela D: Brian-Paul Tesselaar/Robin Hoekstra/Bastin Verweij/Arjan Netjes MC: Max Oostenrijk/Pascal Hettinga AMLR: Leo van der Meulen/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Joreilly Chirino/Derk Schut 42 - Oostenrijk's corner finds Hoekstra, whose shot is blocked by a defender. But Chirino sneaks up behind and blasts the mid-range shot in. We should up be by 3 at this point, but eh. 1-0 59 - Schut on the corner to Tesselaar. Keeper stops but can't grasp shot and it bounces off the defender, then off Hoekstra for a cheap ass first-ever Kampong goal. Hilarious, and I'll take it. 2-0 68 - Leocadio for Schut and striker switch Robin Hoesktra played out of his ever-loving mind today, taking home the match ball with a 9.0 and Brian-Paul Tesselaar added a 7.5. My name comes up linked to four different job openings. Not interested. But someone else wants to talk to me about moving to a bigger club.

But the most hilarious part of how it was in FM16 times: all of the top 5 levels had a name that would suggest it is the highest level of football (Division of Honor, First Division, Highest Class, Head Class, First Class). But enough about that, back to the dynasty reports.

brb naming him Arjan "Pigpen" Netjes. Thanks for the translations and commentary by the way. Who had Joreilly Chirino not only leading us in goals scored, but the entire league? If you said you, you're a damned liar. Amar Sedjic, the Bosnian brilliant boy, was just as stellar as I predicted. Love that kid. Strong season overall by our squad. There's definitely areas for improvement, however. I'm still not sold on Sefa Kurt as Robin Hoekstra's DC partner, and Pigpen Netjes didn't wow me at DR, either. Pascal Hettinga was decent as Amar Sedjic's running mate at MC, but not astounding. We need depth on the wing spots, too, especially since... Achmed Ahahaoui wants to move to a bigger club I mean, he's a grown ass man, and at 32, he deserves the right to spend his last couple star years elsewhere if he wants. Wow, talk about lopsided! Amar Sedjic got robbed. We, along with most of the clubs in the division, turn semi-pro. We also move into a 2,900+ seat stadium, but that's just a temporary relocation, because this jaw-dropping news hits: So initially the board dicks me around by offering a one year, $5.5k deal that would make me the second-lowest paid manager in the league. How about no? We settle on $10.5k instead, which should put me around second or third, depending on how the other contracts shake out. Only PPA deals on offer, but we nonetheless secure: Hedzer Prins: $70 PPA Bartek Pakiela: $70 PPA Brian-Paul Tesselaar: $80 PPA Amar Sedjic wants nothing to do with us Says we're not strong enough to be considered. YOU'RE KILLING ME, SMALLS! BTW, we have a $240k budget and $13.25k transfer spending allowance. To be honest, most of these guys I really don't care whether we keep them or not. Transfer In - DC/DM Patrick Ozinga (21) 10 Marking, 11 Tackling, 13 Bravery and Jumping Reach, 11 Decisions and Positioning. Really good looking kid. $75 PPA and immediately our top defender on paper. Transfer In - AML Siebren Visscher (25) - From SC Genemuiden Got just 1 appearance last year for a club on the level up and was mad. We snuck him in before turning semipro so he's here on an Amateur deal. 11s and 14s in every relevant category. Is he Achmed Ahahaoui? No, but he's good. Two impact signings follow - one for $100 P/A, the other for $120 P/A. I'm just going to go ahead and say it - Gokhan is going to be amazing here. He scored 22 goals at the lower level last year and he'll be worth the $100 we pay him each time he's on the field. I'm less sure about Moreno and his pricey $120 appearance fee, but he'll slot in at AMR and we'll see how the youngster goes. Projected wage bill: $26.5k + my 10.5k = $37k and I think I want to hold the line on that unless somebody *really* jumps out at me or unless we start getting defections. We smashed open the piggy bank to get these kids - $190 PPA and $140 PPA respectively. But Hennos I desperately wanted after seeing him at the Dutch Trialist game and it took every single euro the board allowed to lure him in. Amar Sedjic leaves for a team just one level up - Rijsoord. They're now my mortal enemy unless they want to hire me. Picked for third. Board only wants mid-table again, but expects a Third Round appearance in the Dutch Cup. Um, k. We got our asses handed to us all friendly season long, going on the road for money like dirty, dirty lowest tier whores. @ ARC G: Bartek Pakiela D: Brian-Paul Tesselaar/Ertunc Yildirim/Patrick Ozinga/Hennos Asmalash MC: Max Oostenrijk/Pascal Hettinga AMLR: Achmed Ahahaoui/Moreno Doekhi ST: Derk Schut/Gokhan Pala Welp, let's see how this group does. 10 - Not a single fucking person covered the wing 0-1 53 - And Paul-Tesselaar gives up the PK 0-2 78 - Tesselaar spends a long time dribbling around the field before finally hitting back to Ozinga for the ball forward to Prins, who came in at AMR along with Chirino at ST earlier. Box feed to Schut, still team captain, and we get one back. 1-2 TWICE Joreilly Chirino had easy shots and blew them both. We could have come back and won this game. I'll hold my hand up and say this one's my fault, however. I've very quickly realized the experiment of Ertunc Yildirim at DC isn't going to work and Moreno Doekhi is wholly unsuited to AMR due to Runs Down the Left Flank preferred move. Good news is, our division has expanded from 11 to 15 teams (why I have no damn clue), so instead of 20 games, we have 28, and thus more time to figure things out.

G: Bartek Pakiela D: Ertunc Yildirim/Robin Hoekstra/Patrick Ozinga/Hennos Asmalash MC: Max Oostenrijk/Pascal Hettinga AMLR: Moreno Doekhi/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Derk Schut/Gokhan Pala 7 - Asmalash hammers it down the right flank for Ahahaoui, who dribbles and crosses to Doekhi. Center to Schut and I'm still kicking myself for not going to this lineup before 1-0 29 - Schut lofts the free kick into the box, and Ozinga steps forward for his first Kampong score! 2-0 51 - Ahahaoui passes to Pala, who has been terrible today, but the Turk sends it in to box space. Hettinga wins the race and scores his first goal for us!!! 3-0 Great team victory as we really turned it on in the second half. Argentina takes gold in the Olympics, blanking the US 3-0. @ Heinenoord (7th) G: Bartek Pakiela D: Ertunc Yildirim/Robin Hoekstra/Patrick Ozinga/Hennos Asmalash MC: Rodi de Boer/Pascal Hettinga AMLR: Moreno Doekhi/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Derk Schut/Gokhan Pala I really looked for an MC upgrade at the deadline, but everyone wanted way, way too much money. 21 - Doekhi has two guys buzzing around him, but they don't press, preferring to try and zone trap him. He laughs, keeps on dribbling, and then sends it to the box, where Pala puts away his first Kampong goal! 1-0 29 - Terrific driving persistence by Asmalash to strip the ball and push it up to Pala. It's on to Schut, who keeps the run going into the box. The tackle attempt comes way too late, as the ball is already on its way into the net on the beaut mid-range shot. 2-0 56 - Hoekstra screwed that one up. Against my better judgment, the Belgian shifts over to the normally rock-solid teenager's spot and van der Linden comes in at DL 2-1 72 - Switching to a 4-1-5, de Boer staying in as the lone MC, Ahahaoui shifting in to AMC, and Prins on at AMR We lost $6.16k last month. The $1,500 we pulled in from friendlies away fees plus one home game doesn't mean a ton of cash coming in. Worrying, considering I've kept our budget as low as I can.

vs Dongen (6th)
G: Bartek Pakiela D: Ertunc Yildirim/Robin Hoekstra/Patrick Ozinga/Hennos Asmalash MC: Max Oostenrijk/Pascal Hettinga AMLR: Moreno Doekhi/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Derk Schut/Gokhan Pala 6 - Oostenrijk shorts the corner to Hoekstra's head for the aerial cross. The keeper terribly misjudges his leap, the ball falling on to Ozinga's chest and allowing him to literally walk in the score. Hilarious. 1-0 33 - I love it when teams try to double up on Doekhi. It never works. His cross does go awry, dropping into the keeper's hands, but he drops it. It's just a matter of who gets there first of our strikers. Turns out to be Schut. Rough day for the opposing goalie 2-0 35 - Schut recovers his own cleared corner and crosses to open space in the box where no one but Ahahaoui is even close. Thunder kick and the rout is on. 3-0 49 - Hettinga pops a pretty ball ahead of Pala and the cross is just as crisply beautiful, Schut splitting the two defenders to double his tally. 4-0 Lovely. vs Zwaluwen (7th) G: Bartek Pakiela D: Brian-Paul Tesselaar/Bastin Verweij/Patrick Ozinga/Hennos Asmalash MC: Rodi de Boer/Pascal Hettinga AMLR: Moreno Doekhi/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Derk Schut/Gokhan Pala 17 - We double-team a guy, have coverage on the shooter, and it still gets through? Damn. 0-1 20 - Ahahaoui takes the long pass and runs down the right side, two defenders draped all over him. He's able to get the cross off, however. Other defenders are worried about our strikers, and absolutely no one is covering Doekhi, allowing him to open shot score his first Kampong goal!!! 1-1 32 - Asmalash makes an incredible interception, starting a sequence of passes that caps in Hettinga popping a ball into space for Pala to snag, race into the box, and fire in the go-ahead score. I'm really impressed by Pascal's growing comfort in Amar Sedjic's old Advanced Playmaker role. 2-1 43 - Our backline has been ass today 2-2 53 - Oosterom is in for Ozinga and Schut heads off to a striker switch with Prins as the new DF. 63 - Are you f**Y(&ng serious right now? 2-3 70 - Doekhi makes an amazing steal deep in their half, and quickly bombs it to Prins in the box. They can't get back quick enough, allowing our boy to settle down and set his shot. Equalized. 3-3 90 - De Boer absolutely hammers the ball down the middle of the pitch and Pala is able to fight through two defenders to get the shot off. Keeper comes out and pushes it away, but doesn't get back towards the net. In comes Prins to SLAM HIS SECOND GOAL OF THE GAME!!! 4-3 8.6 showing off the bench for Hedzer Prins, 8.4 for Gokhan Pala, 8.2 for Moreno Doehki, but the PotM ball goes to Pascal Hettinga's 8.7 as the defense improved *just* enough in the second half to steal the comeback victory. vs Zaamlaag (Dutch Cup Second Round) G: Bartek Pakiela D: Ertunc Yildirim/Robin Hoekstra/Sefa Kurt/Hennos Asmalash MC: Max Oostenrijk/Eren Albayrak AMLR: Siebren Visscher/Hedzer Prins ST: Rico Leocadio/Joreilly Chirino Do I care about the Cup, which we secured a first round bye out of? Honestly, no. I want to move on up. Eren Albayrak is a youth pull from last year, but exhaustion and suspensions have forced us to give him his first action. Also appearing for the first time is Siebren Visscher, who took this long because uh, Moreno Doekhi is frigging amazing, and Achmed Ahahaoui will play forever. We switch to our 4-1-5 at the half, Albaryak left as the lone MC defending while Ahahaoui is in at AMC. I'm annoyed at Prins - he's shot happy after his heroics last game and is blowing it. We frankly have played badly all half, though, so it's not just him. 54 - Leocadio is yanked for Pala. Boy has the Cape Verdean kid been a huge, huge disappointment. 58 - Prins finally launches a decent header shot.. only to rattle off the crossbar. 61 - Visscher cannons a free kick into the box and Chirino out-jumps everyone to knock in the header for his first score of the year!!! 1-0 66 - Chirino wins the header on Pakiela's goal kick, knocking it down and taking possession. Kickback to Asmalash and return pass. Feed into the box to Prins and a shot *finally* goes in amidst stupid cries of offsides 2-0 By the end of the game, all 90 minute starters save our keeper netted a 7 or better, with Achmed Ahahaoui pulling a 7.0 sub duty. Joreilly Chirino takes all the plaudits and the game ball with his 8.5, looking like last season's hot streak version. No cash for the win. What a gyp. At least we're in temporarily in 2nd place in the league (3rd place team has a game in hand).

G: Bartek Pakiela D: Ertunc Yildirim/Robin Hoekstra/Patrick Ozinga/Hennos Asmalash MC: Rodi de Boer/Pascal Hettinga AMLR: Moreno Doekhi/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Derk Schut/Gokhan Pala 14 - Schut shorts it left and Doekhi picks up for the beautiful aerial into the box, Pala pounching it in with his head 1-0 Kurt subs in for winded Hoekstra at half. 47 - Garbage defending 1-1 50 - Doekhi blasts it down the left flank to Schut. Dribble and cross to Ahahoui in the box. Two defenders, our Moroccan, and Pala. One defender is on Ahahaoui, and the second has a choice to make. He opts to try and double our right winger, opening a space for the pass to Pala and easy score 2-1 91 - Ahahaoui gets his own cleared corner and sends it right back into the box. Hettinga pops forward and kicks the ball into the net, a stunning sneak goal that took everyone, including me, by surprise. I thought that was a fluke goal at first 3-1 Pascal Hettinga nets an 8.4, but it's Gokhan Pala who is PotM with an 8.8. Third star - Achmed Ahahaoui with a 7.8. @ HZVV (11th) G: Bartek Pakiela D: Ertunc Yildirim/Robin Hoekstra/Bastin Verweij/Hennos Asmalash MC: Max Oostenrijk/Jeroen Folkers AMLR: Moreno Doekhi/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Derk Schut/Gokhan Pala 20 - Asmalash throws in to Pala and gets it back. Power high ball into the box that's headed away. Only problem is, Oostenrijk is there to pounce on it some feet outside the half-circle, whereupon he belts the beauty for his first Kampong goal!!!!!! Holy crap!!!! 1-0 25 - Asmalash makes an absolutely jaw-dropping, goal-saving interception on a free kick, then hammers it wide right to Doekhi. A rocket down the right flank soars on to Schut's foot and he's off to the races, everyone tearing their asses to get back. Way too late three defenders are, as Pala has them in his dust on the cross and convert 2-0 43 - Dreadful performance by our backline there. Asmalash completely dinked around, and our DCs didn't run back to cover the striker up front 2-1 61 - Kurt in for Hoekstra; de Boer for Folkers 70 - COME FUCKING ON! van der Linden for Asmalash, who has been trash this second half 2-2 81 - Schut makes a brilliant heading interception of a knockaway on the attempt high ball to Ahahaoui. He's in the box and defender commits to him. Bad idea. Slip pass ahead to Pala and the Turk who is turning into the star I projected puts it away!!!!! 3-2 Second straight PotM for Gokhan Pala at 8.8, fellow striker Derk Schut grabbing an 8.0, with Max Oostenrijk the #2 man with 8.2. Key victory as we're temporarily in 1st, though that falls to 3rd by our next match due to game in hand on 2nd place team and the fact that Roda '46 has played their game in hand and is a flawless 7-0-0. vs CSW (4th) G: Bartek Pakiela D: Brian-Paul Tesselaar/Robin Hoekstra/Patrick Ozinga/Hennos Asmalash MC: Rodi de Boer/Pascal Hettinga AMLR: Moreno Doekhi/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Joreilly Chirino/Gokhan Pala We lost $5.68k last month. Derk Schut is on the shelf for 4-5 weeks. 25 - Asmalash hits a high, far, corner and Ozinga leaps above everyone to head it in. Dude has just been deadly on corners this season 1-0 39 - Doekhi with a dynamite interception and longball that Chirino collects. The Curacao man is too quick for everyone and the keeper's shotstop attempt is a lazy one-handed air wave that only bounces the ball into the net 2-0 40 - Tesselaar makes it look easy, his corner to Hoekstra resulting in our second CK score by a defender 3-0 49 - Tesselaar intercepts and to Hettinga. Wing out to Doekhi and the cross sees Pala rise above and head it in to keep this rout going 4-0 52 - Pala with the gorgeous pass into the box. Ahahaoui gets there first and centers to Chirino for the high kick goal 5-0 Best game we've played my entire career here as far as I'm concerned. Roda '46 drew, putting us 1 point behind them now. @ SVL (8th) G: Bartek Pakiela D: Ertunc Yildirim/Robin Hoekstra/Patrick Ozinga/Hennos Asmalash MC: Max Oostenrijk/Jeoren Folkers AMLR: Moreno Doekhi/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Joreilly Chirino/Gokhan Pala 14 - Folkers' pass to Pala is picked off, but on the ensuing short pass, Folkers gets it back and delivers the ball through crowded traffic to clean Pala in the box and the score is in 1-0 21 - Fluke ball bounces off Hoekstra's back after Yildirim makes the interception, but Pakiela still should have stopped that shot 1-1 Kurt on for Hoekstra at half and I scream at the team because we've been mostly ass. 49 - Doekhi with the short pass to Folkers outside the half-circle. He turns around like a dog looking for the right pooping spot before passing to a loosely guarded Pala. The Turk triumphs. 2-1 57 - Chirino continues to stink and he's yanked for Prins. Striker switching. 68 - Kurt can't control the received corner, so he outlets it back to Oostenrijk. Center and Folkers shoots. Defended away. Ahahaoui is in the crowd to grab it and tap back left to Folkers. This time there's no stopping him from his first ever Kampong goal!!! 3-1 This was the Gokhan Pala (9.0 - third straight PotM award) and Jeoren Folker (8.8) Show. Everyone else need not apply. Dutch Cup is up next against a Topklasse team (2 levels above IIRC). No way we win there, so I might just summarize it.

Excelesior Massilussius (SP) does indeed beat us, but only 0-1 and didn't score until 85 minutes in. Great effort, all in all.
vs Almkerk (12th) G: Bartek Pakiela D: Ertunc Yildirim/Robin Hoekstra/Patrick Ozinga/Hennos Asmalash MC: Max Oostenrijk/Pascal Hettinga AMLR: Moreno Doekhi/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Joreilly Chirino/Gokhan Pala Remember when these guys were odd-on favorites to win the league? ....Yeah. I still smell a trap game here. 86 - Doekhi dribbles down the left flank until hitting the power pass into the box where Prins easily puts it away after subbing for Pala at the 51st minute. FINALLY. 1-0 7.9 for game-ball winner Moreno Doekhi, 7.7 for Pascal Hettinga. An ugly win awards just as pretty a 3 points. @ Achilles 1894 (6th) G: Bartek Pakiela D: Ertunc Yildirim/Robin Hoekstra/Patrick Ozinga/Hennos Asmalash MC: Max Oostenrijk/Jeoren Folkers AMLR: Moreno Doekhi/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Joreilly Chirino/Derk Schut Prins replaces Chirino with a striker switch at half. We're so bad today. 50 - Yildirim coughs up the PK and is yanked for van Linden. Dreadful. 0-1 53 - WHERE THE HELL IS THE CALL ON THAT PENALTY?!?! 71 - It's come down to us needing an own goal just to avoid embarrassment 1-1 79 - WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT LAZY ASS BACKPASS BULLSHIT HOEKSTRA?!?! OH MY EVER-LOVING-FUCKING GOD WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU, YOU DAFT FUCKING PRICK?! 1-2 We plummet to 3rd on the back of that shitburger. vs Eemdjik (11th) G: Bartek Pakiela D: Brian-Paul Tesselaar/Robin Hoekstra/Sefa Kurt/Hennos Asmalash MC: Max Oostenrijk/Pascal Hettinga AMLR: Moreno Doekhi/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Joreilly Chirino/Gokhan Pala 9 - Hettinga driving into space, passes ahead. Ahahaou runs up and crosses, where injured Chirino slots it away. 1-0 57 - Prins for Pala; Folkers for Hettinga 65 - Asmalash throws in to Prins who is pressured deep outside the box. Outlet back to wide open Folkers in the box and the shot somehow tips past the deflecting keeper's hands and in! 2-0 70 - That was some awful free kick defending 2-1 91 - Ahahaoui and a defender run side by side, but he's not going for the tackle. Cross gets a nice, soft hop and Doekhi is there to lock this thing down 3-1 Achmed Ahahaoui walks off with the 8.9 matchball. Moreno Doekhi's 7.6 is just behind senational sub Jeoren Folkers' 7.7. That's enough to pull us back up into 2nd after ARC loses, but Roda '46 is still 4 points ahead because they don't lose. I hate these damn superteams we keep running into.

@ Urk (7th)
G: Bartek Pakiela D: Ertunc Yildirim/Robin Hoekstra/Patrick Ozinga/Arjan Netjes MC: Rodi de Boer/Pascal Hettinga AMLR: Moreno Doekhi/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Derk Schut/Gokhan Pala 4 - HE WAS OFFSIDES 0-1 5 - Netjes throws in to Pala and a defender is tight on the Turk for a dribble down the left flank, but when his man steps off, Pala hoofs the ball into the box, where Schut shoots past everyone to tap the immediate answer in 1-1 16 - Ahahaoui fetches a loose ball and his high drop into the box sees Schut -just- beat the keeper in the race to open-net score 2-1 31 - Yildirim throws in to Schut, gets it back, and hits the perfect center on Pala's left side with two defenders on the right. Wham-bam-thanks for the Turk's 10th goal-ma'am! 3-1 47 - Hoesktra master-level interception and header to Pala. Pass to Schut and on the moonbeam launch down the field, Pala beats everyone, gets into the box, and lofts a ball over the keeper's head and into the net. WOW, that was pretty! 4-1 62 - Verweij for Ozinga who got hurt, and Folkers for Hettinga vs Roda '46 (1st) G: Bartek Pakiela D: Brian-Paul Tesselaar/Robin Hoekstra/Patrick Ozinga/Hennos Asmalash MC: Max Oostenrijk/Jeroen Folkers AMLR: Moreno Doekhi/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Derk Schut/Gokhan Pala This is it. The Big One. They drew last game, so a win here puts us in 1st by a single point. 25 - Asmalash makes a leaping, twisting interception that has the crowd roaring on its feet because it came out of nowhere! The header flies to Pala who belts the bejesus out of the ball to the box. Schut's old man body still torches the defense and has a 1v1 with the keeper and he wins!!! Pandemonium!!! 1-0 58 - de Boer on for Oostenrijk; Ahahaoui switches to AML and Prins comes in at AMR. It's been a terrible night for our midfield, so maybe shaking things up will light a fire. Derk Schut's 7.6 is good enough for PotM as we steal this win and go up to 1st!!! It's their first loss of the season. @ NIVO (10th) G: Bartek Pakiela D: Ertunc Yildirim/Robin Hoekstra/Sefa Kurt/Hennos Asmalash MC: Max Oostenrijk/Pascal Hettinga AMLR: Moreno Doekhi/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Joreilly Chirino/Derk Schut 18 seconds - On the opening kickoff, Doekhi dribbles forward and towards the sideline, drawing defenders with him. The ground cross sees a defender miss his interception and Ahahaoui puts it in for what I think is the fastest score yet! 1-0 11 - Doekhi centers to Hettinga. Pass is to Ahahaoui in the half-circle and he taps it to Schut for the shocking mid-range strike that sings home! 2-0 43 - Schut's free kick just past midfield soars into the box, Hettinga's head smashing it in and our opponents just look totally demoralized. 3-0 Verweij slots in for Kurt at half, as the latter's been playing dangerously and should have been red-carded out. And yes that 18 second goal is a team and league record. Not bad for a 32 year old. We're just past the halfway mark and this is how tight the table between the 3 elite teams. While we just knocked off one, we've our second match against ARC next and can flip this into a two-team race with a win.

vs ARC (3rd)
: Bartek Pakiela D: Brian-Paul Tesselaar/Robin Hoekstra/Patrick Ozinga/Hennos Asmalash MC: Jeroen Folkers/Pascal Hettinga AMLR: Moreno Doekhi/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Derk Schut/Gokhan Pala We lost to these guys last time, so we really want to beat them and knock them back this go round. 20 - Their passing has been terrible today, and Pala intercepts to start a counter. At the end, Ahahaoui is dribbling down the right flank and crosses. Pala leaps and heads it in despite two defenders, the league's best defense surrendering a rare goal 1-0 53 - Ahahaoui shifts to AML, Prins in 76 - GOD DAMN SON OF A BITCH! 1-1 80 - de Boer on for Folkers vs Heinenoord (10th) G: Bartek Pakiela D: Ertunc Yildirim/Robin Hoekstra/Patrick Ozinga/Hennos Asmalash MC: Max Oostenrijk/Pascal Hettinga AMLR: Moreno Doekhi/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Derk Schut/Gokhan Pala We're behind by a single damn point again after that draw. 18 - First PK of the year for us, and Ahahaoui converts. 1-0 46 - Amalash's cross to Pala is cleared, but Ahahaoui runs it down and sends it to the opposite side for Doekhi to add the insurance just after half 2-0 49 - Doekhi pops the ball over right to Ahahaoui and the defender commits, leaving Schut free to receive the short tap and score 3-0 7.1 or better from everyone but the keeper and Pala. Advanced too quickly so missed listing the stars, but Achmed Ahahaoui is PotM with a 9.0. More importantly, we're back in 1st! Roda '46 got stunned 0-2 at Achilles 1894, a same spot we stumbled at. @ Dongen (13th) G: Bartek Pakiela D: Ertunc Yildirim/Robin Hoekstra/Patrick Ozinga/Hennos Asmalash MC: Jeroen Folkers/Pascal Hettinga AMLR: Moreno Doekhi/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Derk Schut/Gokhan Pala ARC and Roda '46 both drew yesterday, so we have a YUUUUUUUUUUUGE opportunity to put some real distance between us. 12 - Hettinga flares it out right to Doekhi for the run and center to Schut, and there's the boomtown 1-0 36 - Yildirim throws in to Hoesktra for the longball to Pala outside the left edge of the box. There's nobody around him for miles, so the Turk sits and waits. When two defenders finally draw off to challenge him, the center finds Schut again for goal #2. 2-0 64 - Sloppy free kick defense 2-1 64 - Yildirim punts it left side to Pala. Defender knicks it, but lazily backpasses towards the keeper like Hoekstra did earlier this year. Schut swoops in for the FIRST HAT-TRICK OF MY TEAM IN THIS UNIVERSE!!!! 3-1 68 > 3-2 71 - Verweij for Hoekstra; de Boer for Folkers Obvious PotM is Derk Schut's 9.7, with Gokhan Pala picking up a 7.7. We damn near blew that one but are up to a 4 point lead. Transfer Window Opens Going Out DL Tom van der Linden (21) - Alphense Boys AML Bas Smulders (31) - NIVO (in-division) DR Arjen "Pigpen" Netjes (21) - ARC (in-division) - $6.5k DCR Casper van Oosterom (22) - Achilles 1984 (in-division) It hurts to lose Pigpen to one of our biggest rivals. The rest of these guys are whatever, and I'm salty ARC gets to offer actual contracts to people. Coming In DC Adil Mahdadi (33) - From Odovo - $95 PA 11 Marking, 12 Tackling, 17 Aggression, 12 Positioning/Jumping Reach/Strength. Battle-hardened veteran signed to a backup deal who could challenge Robin Hoesktra for a starting spot. MC Rudo Hidden (29) - From RKAVV - $80 PA 12 First Touch and Technique, 13 Vision. Our central midfielders are actually our weakest spot, so this guy could step in and be a starter next to Pascal Hettinga for a while. And then the crown jewel: $240 every time he steps on the pitch, but I'm dreaming of how great he and Moreno Doekhi are going to play together. Achmed Ahahaoui is still phenomenal, but you can see him losing a couple steps every now and again - besides, he wants to leave for a bigger club, and now I have my insurance. Transfer In - DR Jamie Jailens (29) - From Campelle - $85 PA Just a really solid all-around fullback who can spell Asmalash vs DOSKO (14th) G: Bartek Pakiela D: Ertunc Yildirim/Adhil Mahdadi/Patrick Ozinga/Jamie Jaliens MC: Pascal Hettinga/Rudio Hidden AMLR: Moreno Doekhi/Tiago Faria da Silva ST: Derk Schut/Gokhan Pala 2 - Doekhi jacks it long to Pala and the cross to Schut is easy 1-0 10 - Yildirim throw in to Hettinga, blastball to Pala, and on the cross, the defenders actually sag off Schut. Say hi to our two-year team captain scoring his 15th of the season 2-0 23 - Hidden taps to Schut, wing out right to isolated da Silva and the cross to Pala = debut assist! 3-0 25 - Doekhi taps back to Hettinga, center to Hidden, and the box feed to Pala means two debut assists, each to our Turk! 4-0 69 - Hoekstra for Mahdadi after a goal given up 4-1 Pretty debut. Hedzer Prins (24) wants out, so he gets a free release. Bastin Verweij (33) leaves as well, to Elinkwijk. That's 6 so far who have left this transfer window. Make that 7. Jerrold van Eeckhout (27) also packs his bags, for NVC. Disappointed to lose Prins, but it is what it is.

@ Zwaluwen (6th)
G: Bartek Pakiela D: Ertunc Yildirim/Adhil Mahdadi/Adil Mahdadi[b]/Jamie Jaliens MC: Pascal Hettinga/Rudio Hidden AMLR: Moreno Doekhi/Tiago Faria da Silva ST: Derk Schut/Gokhan Pala 13 - Jaliens runs down a ball and taps to da Silva in the box. Center to Pala and the score is in 1-0 22 - Terrible free kick defense by Hoekstra. 1-1 Halftime sees Hoekstra and Hettinga's mistake-ridden selves pulled for Kurt and Oostenrijk respectively. 58 - Schut comes off for Leocadio Bleh. Dammes Waasdorp is tired of being stuck behind our Polish keeper, so he goes off to VS Vlissingen. Bye, man. You were decent but not great. vs HZVV (11th) G: Bartek Pakiela D: Brian-Paul Tesselaar/Adhil Mahdadi/Patrick Ozinga/Jamie Jaliens MC: Pascal Hettinga/Rudio Hidden AMLR: Moreno Doekhi/Tiago Faria da Silva ST: Derk Schut/Gokhan Pala 12 - Tesselaar with the play up to Doekhi. Center finds da Silva and he tricks the keeper from what is essentially PK range for his first Kampong goal!!! 1-0 53 - Hoektra for Mahdadi; Leocadio for Schut. In other news, [b]ARC]/b] is annihilating Roda '46 3-0 right now. 55 - Asmalash wins a war for the ball and passes down the right sideline to da Silva. I'm questioning the wisdom when two defenders are all over our young, insanely expensive Portuguese winger, when he all of a sudden cranks a high-volume highball that sees Leocadio smash in the short-range header for his first goal of the year! 2-0 60 - Hettinga to Hidden. Bomb out left to Leocadio and the center connects with Pala to pretty much put this one out of reach 3-0 All full-time starters other than the keeper were 7.1 or better, highlighted by Rico Leocadio's 7.6 off the bench, Moreno Doekhi's 7.8, and Tiago Faria da Silva's PotM-winning 8.2. ARC trounced Roda '46 4-0, putting them behind the 8 ball as we head into the final stretch of the season. February officially sees us cross over into the bleeding money category for the season with -$4k on the tally sheet. That's still not bad, however. @ CSW (4th) G: Bartek Pakiela D: Ertunc Yildirim/Adhil Mahdadi/Patrick Ozinga/Hennos Asmalash MC: Pascal Hettinga/Rudio Hidden AMLR: Moreno Doekhi/Tiago Faria da Silva ST: Derk Schut/Gokhan Pala 57 - Ahahaoui in for Doekhi; [b]Hoekstra[/b for Ozinga 68 - Pakiela blasts the goal kick down to Pala, who heads it right into da Silva's run. Two defenders on him in the box, but he shrugs it off with a cross that sees Schut finally hit the nets seconds before I was about to pull him 1-0 Roda '46 draws 2-2 as we get out this gritty win behind Rudo Hidden's 7.2 PotM. I think you can pretty much count them out of the race at this point. Whilst they have a game in hand and 7 matches left to play, they're 10 points behind us and would max out at 7 points behind with 6 left to go. 3 weeks of friendlies follow. ARC and Rota '46 both win their games in hand - 2 and 7 points behind respectively. vs SVL (11th) G: Bartek Pakiela D: Brian-Paul Tesselaar/Adhil Mahdadi/Robin Hoekstra/Hennos Asmalash MC: Pascal Hettinga/Rudo Hidden AMLR: Moreno Doekhi/Tiago Faria da Silva ST: Rico Leocadio/Gokhan Pala 34 - Hidden is booked with a double yellow. Pfeh. 36 - Pala is in trouble with four players surrounding him. He's able to outlet right to da Silva. Quick move by one of the four to move over for a double team, but the cross is already on its way for Pala to score the short-hander. 1-0 41 - Textbook pass interception by Doekhi to shoot the ball down the left flank to Leocadio. Dribble and cross. Pala's shot is bricked by the post, but the Turk stays on it and sinks his own rebound 2-0 67 - Ahahaoui subs in for Doekhi 68 - da Silva takes the ball and runs down the pitch, sweeping and shifting until he executes a perfect delivery in the box for Leocadio to convert 3-0 All full-time starters were 7 or better, with Tiago Faria da Silva (8.3) and PotM Gokhan Pala (8.8) imposing their will on everyone despite the early sendoff. ARC could only manage a 0-0 draw, putting us back 4 points ahead with 5 to play. @ Almkerk (15th) G: Bartek Pakiela D: Ertunc Yildirim/Adhil Mahdadi/Patrick Ozinga/Hennos Asmalash MC: Max Oostenrijk/Jeroen Folkers AMLR: Moreno Doekhi/Tiago Faria da Silva ST: Derk Schut/Gokhan Pala 50 - Leocadio for Schut, who has been so awful lately, I'm starting to think his time is done. 56 - Yildirim throws in to Leocadio and gets it back. High ball box delivery, and I never tire of watching Pala leaping to smash in headers 1-0 59 - Kurt for Ozinga, who has been horrendous all game. Hennos Asmalash led a spirited defensive effort with a PotM-worthy 7.5. Grinding wins gonna grind. 4 games left - 4 and 7 points ahead respectively of ARC and Roda '46.

I officially love the board. They don't try to cheat me and offer the same amount. When I look at the division above, I see one guy making $10.5k a year, another making $11.5k, and a third making $21.5k, so I ask for a slight increase to $13.75k and they sign off on that on a one year deal.
Gokhan Pala is out a month after getting injured in a friendly, and Joreilly Chirino got hurt in training a few weeks back, shelving him for 2 months, so our striker situation is looking a touch worrying right now - especially with 32 year old Derk Schut's continuing regression. vs Achilles 1894 (4th) G: Bartek Pakiela D: Brian-Paul Tesselaar/Adhil Mahdadi/Robin Hoekstra/Hennos Asmalash MC: Pascal Hettinga/Rudo Hidden AMLR: Moreno Doekhi/Tiago Faria da Silva ST: Rico Leocadio/Derk Schut These are one of only two teams to beat us, so I'm scared. 20 - FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!! da Silva goes off with injury! I mean, we have Ahahaoui waiting to step in again, but the kid has been amazing for us and earning every bit of his $240 salary. 35 - Damn it I hate these assholes! 0-1 61 - HE WAS FRIGGING OFFSIDES!!!! 0-2 74 - Leocadio centers to Schut, but he's jammed up so he passes right to Ahahaoui. Tipback to Hidden for his first Kampong goal, but it's too little too late I fear 1-2 Tiago Faria da Silva has a torn hamstring and is out 3-4 months. I'm frigging sick right now. And our lead has been shaved to 1 and 4 points respectively. Devastating. Just absolutely fucking devastating. vs Urk (9th) G: Bartek Pakiela D:Ertunc Yildirim/Adhil Mahdadi/Patrick Ozinga/Jamie Jaliens MC: Max Oostenrijk/Rudo Hidden AMLR: Moreno Doekhi/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Rico Leocadio/Derk Schut 11 - Doekhi passes to Leocadio in the box. Defender nicks it, but doesn't take possession and Doekhi is right there to scorch the nets with a screaming diagonal 1-0 51 - Doekhi runs down a longball and crosses where no one is. Defender's laughing as he heads it away, but his angle is off and Leocadio is in position to nail it 2-0 56 - Hidden to Leocadio, who wings it out right. Where the hell is Ahahaoui? Nobody can find him, so Hidden has to run it down and deliver in the box. Doekhi's header clangs off the post, but Leocadio is once again there to drop in the rebound. 3-0 59 - Yildirim and Mahdadi tag-team to stop a goal. On to Leocadio who belts it down the middle of the pitch. Schut is beaten for once (signs of his aging), but he never stops driving after the defender lazily soft backpasses. Team captain punishes him for that stupidity. 4-0 75 - Hidden on our second straight corner. Mahdadi rises above the crowd to hammerhead in his first Kampong goal!!!! 5-0 Talk about a tale of two halves! Even better, ARC had one of their 0-0 draws, meaning we're 3 points up! @ Eemdjik (9th) G: Bartek Pakiela D: Brian-Paul Tesselaar/Adhil Mahdadi/Robin Hoekstra/Hennos Asmalash MC: Pascal Hettinga/Rudo Hidden AMLR: Moreno Doekhi/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Rico Leocadio/Gokhan Pala Win here and we're in the driver's seat for claiming the title. 19 - Tesselaar throws in to Leocadio and on the aerial center, there's Pala and like six guys around him. Guess who wins that header? The Turk - for his 20th goal of the year. 1-0 53 - Folkers in for Hettinga; van der Meulen (Remember him?) for Doekhi 65 - Leocadio hangs back to stay onsides as van der Meulen sends the pass down the left side. Leocadio then surges, picks up the loose ball, dribbles, and crosses to Pala for the easy goal. 2-0 Game ball and 8.7 for Gokhan Pala, 7.8 for Rico Leocadio, and 8.2 for Rudo Hidden. @ Roda '46 G: Bartek Pakiela D: Ertunc Yildirim/Adhil Mahdadi/Patrick Ozinga/Hennos Asmalash MC: Pascal Hettinga/Rudo Hidden AMLR: Moreno Doekhi/Tiago Faria da Silva ST: Rico Leocadio/Derk Schut All we need is a draw and we walk out with the title. Roda '46 got officially eliminated with our win last week. ARC is still in play at 3 points behind, but they'd also need to make up the +4 GD we currently enjoy. Suffice to say, we're going Defensive from the whistle. 8 - Are you serious? Fluke goal in the biggest match ever? 0-1 31 - Mahdadi has been awesome lately, and he makes a stop here. Short give to Hettinga for the boomer ball down to Doekhi and [b]Leocadio/b] converts on the center 1-1 Chirino and Kurt replace Schut and Ozinga respectively at half, because they've been dumpster fires. 47 - Ball's in the air after Pakiela's belt. Ahahaoui springs up and nods it on for Leocadio to bounce it more, and Chirino caps off the popups with a header in!!! 2-1 63 - So this is going to be stupid goals day. Okay. 30 yard strike that Pakiela pooch-screwed on 2-2 80 - Kurt charges in like a raging bull, intercepts for the first touch long ball almost to the touchline. Chirino chases it down and is getting hassled, so he passes back to the middle of the box, where Doekhi awaits to slot it away!!!! 3-2 8.1 for Moreno Doekhi and 7.5 for Joreilly Chirino off the bench. We don't get the game ball, but I don't care because.... WEEEEE ARRRRREEE THE CHAMPIIIIIIIOOOOONNNNSSS!!!!!! (As it turns out, we would have anyway - ARC's offense again sputtered its way to a 0-0 nothingburger) This is a v.v. important offseason for us. There's going to be a *ton* of people leaving this bloated roster which is something like 40 or 50 people due to two years' worth of crummy youth classes. We also need to get our talent level up to staying competitive at the next rung up.

Congrats on the title! Looking forward to seeing how you get bored and take a crap job in another country/otherwhise muck things up. I mean, keep performing brilliantly and win another promotion. Yeah, that's totally what I was thinking.

I'm going to *try* actually carrying a team to the top. Then when I get bored I'll switch to a crap job in another country. :P I figured you could correct me on that horrendous butchering We lost a little over $25,000 last year. In consequence, the board has initially cut the budget to $173.5k and $9.6k respectively. Which is what I expected. The local zoning commission blocks our move. Not a big deal IMO. Transfer Out - DLC Ertuc Yildirim (Belgian) (20 - To Jodam Boys - $5.5k This one hurts. He was a key part of our DL rotation with Brian-Paul Tesselaar since one or the other was frequently suspended due to yellows. I hate Jodam Boys by the way. Not only did those jerks steal Yildirim, they beat us out for a 24 year old Colombian AMC/ST who would have paired with Gokhan Pala up front. Transfer Out - DC Sefa Kurt (26) - To VC Vlissingen - Non-Contract Never quite trusted him, but it's still a blow to our DC depth. Transfer Out - AML Moreno Doekhi (21) - To RBC - $9k The bleeding continues of our star talent. We're not allowed to offer guaranteed money yet, so the raids just keep on coming. I don't think Achmed Ahahaoui has much left in the tank. Transfer In - ML/AML Jeffrey Bok (25) - From Ter Leede Will be in an interesting fight with Siebren Visscher for the starting AML gig. 11 Crossing, 12 Work Rate, 10 Acceleration and Pace, and some really nice Mental attributes. $140 PA. Transfer Out - ML/AML Siebren Visscher (26) - To Alphense Boys - Non-Contract Welp that solves that problem. Our fans were happy to see the back of him and the board thought he was a huge disappointment, so no worries. Transfer Out - DR Hennos Asmalash (21) - To Quick '20 - $7k This, on the other hand, really hurts. He was a damn rock and one of the few guys not to be yellow card prone. Good thing we still have Jamie Jaliens on hand. Transfer Out - DC/DM Patrick Ozinga (22) - To WKE - Non-Contract Stunned by this. And yes, that's three of our four backline starters from last season who have been stolen. Ugh! Transfer In - MC Rick Sour (28) - From TEC vv I think he's way better than my staff is giving him credit for. Cheap, too - $85 PA, $3 Unused sub fee. Loan In - DL Joost van Duijin (18) - From Quick Boys - $1,800 salary (50%) Sky-high potential on this kid. He's grumpy about the fitness coaching on hand, but I'll slot him in as a starter and see how he goes. Physically, a great player. Transfer In - ST Michael Rijna (27) (Curacaoan) - From SCM Explosive physical player loaded with Flair (17), Teamwork (14), and Work Rate (13), to say nothing of 11 Finishing and Heading. I project he'll be this year's Gokhan Pala - Lower leagues star who explodes into relevance on our playable league team. $90 PA. @ Alphense Boys G: Bartek Pakiela D: Joost van Duijin/Adhil Mahdadi/Robin Hoesktra/Jamie Jaliens MC: Rick Sour/Jeroen Folkers AMLR: Jeffrey Bok/Achmed Ahahaoui ST: Gokhan Pala/Michael Rijna Well, overall we got worse on the backline, are about the same at midfield, and improved in the striker realm. Tiago Faria da Silva has picked up his third injury already and it's safe to say he won't get a permanent contract. Derk Schut is still captain for the third year in a row, despite being relegated to third choice striker, with newcomer Jeffrey Bok as vice-captain and poised to take over once Schut drops further. The board is demanding a top-half finish in this promotion season. Um, okay? 55 - Pala runs back to get the pass from Sour, then delivers it to Rijna in the half-circle. Defense swarms in and the lay off to Folkers gives an open shot that converts! 1-0 60 - Pala is out for Schut; Oostenrijk who is training to be AMR comes on for tired Ahahaoui in a danger move. 61 - CLEAR THE BALL ON THE CORNER YOU MAGGOTS! 1-1 66 - Screw this backline. Seriously 1-2 78 - Sour charges with fire and intercepts, then longballs it for Schut to dribble in the box and fire a breathtaking mid-range that hits the nets! 2-2 92 - WHAT THE HELL?!?! RIJNA WAS ONSIDES!!!!!! EFF YOU UP THE BUM, YOU STUPID BLIND FREAKING REF!!!!!! The post-match commentary even talks about how badly we got screwed on that call.

That was a weaksauce closing tantrum.
In non-trolling, actual gameplay-related commentary, I am curious to see how you deal with your new, ravaged back line. |

Excelsior!
But no need to correct you otherwise. The correct spelling is in my signature, my profile location and in the title of my active dynasty thread. Fwiw, I was wondering why I couldn't find Kampong in league scores and such. Apparently they're currently playing in Tweede Klasse, the 7th highest level in the country. Actually, this omni-sports club is more notable for their hockey team (field hockey as the North Americans would say). They claim to be the biggest hockey club in the world.

I uh... didn't. I paid way too much to continue upgrading my wings, got mad, and resigned after a lackluster several games. Then they shot up to 4th by the end of the season, and I couldn't get hired anywhere. Quote:
That's really interesting. It almost makes me wish I hadn't gotten annoyed and left. But never fear, folks! Another FM16 dynasty that will probably last all of two seasons is on the way. :P
