For those who care anymore he 's the fix list for Either 8.01 or 8.03 patch not sur esince it said 8.03 in the subject yet the post say's 8.01? Pretty weak effort if you ask me compared to the patched I have seen Shaun Over at Puresim put out. Didn't really address any of the major issues with this product.

Patch list 8.01
Build Stadium Dialog fixed
'<<' and '>>' Scouting Buttons linked to list order (e.g. in Roster Dialog)
Negotiation text update improvements
Auto-Sort button accuracy improved
"Total Career Stats" button fixed (Advanced Options)
Expansion City fixed (was always 'Abilene')
"Fan Base" moved from City Editor to Stadium Editor
Some roster and player projections edits
"2 Harmon Killebrews" fixed
Team Option bug fixed (option was sometimes exercised at 0 years for 0 salary, instead of the agreed-upon deal)
Control, Power (pitcher) and Overall ratings adjusted

If you mean from this post, then it does say "8.03 Fix List Since 8.01:" unless there is another post I'm missing.

i am glad i save my twenty bucks.

i will keep reading the mogul forum and here. Hopefully one day there will be great news on future patches that might change my mind and buy it. I hope they start releasing a readme on what the fixes are on future patches.

Just to echo jbmagic's post above, you guys have saved me $20 as well. Thanks for your honest feedback. I hope that future patches will save this game, but I'm not holding my breath.

It's a game you WANT to like, but there's just too many issues right now.

I do have a feeling Clay will get the game to a playable level... if not, I'm pretty much done with the Mogul series.

At $20, I took the chance. I've had some fun with it no doubt, but I just can't get into a 'serious' career yet.

Ben,

What are your thoughts thus far? Your input was getting to Clay.

JB,
Actually I don't know what good that will do I have posted numerous posts over there and there are literally dozens and dozens of separate posts about different bugs on the boards. Yet, Clay has not respomded to any of the posts. This is in the last week or so before that he was allover the board but since release nothing except a psot here or there. Terrible customer support IMHO.

Ahhh.. it's not dead yet. (At least I hope) I think Clay is working hard at a big patch. If he's not, well.. stick a fork in it.

I really like parts of the game quite a lot.

I've gotten my $20.00 out of it.

Free agency and the injuries are still hellah annoying, but the stats seem alright to me and, more importantly, I can't seem to win at will (like I can with OOTP or FOF). I guess me playing with a small, budget-busting, market kind of natually keeps me out of the big name free agency and I tend to use the John Wooden approach of worrying only about my team (rather than the competition). I like the relationships angle, too. I think it was a nice touch.

I still am interested in getting the game sometime despite the bitching of those wanting a single independent developer to spend his time on internet forums instead of working on making the game better.

Umm ... if the demo doesn't fix some rather obvious issues that people have been pointing out, I'm not sure I see much point in trying it ... other, perhaps, than a morbid curiosity.

I'm not complaining about him not spending his time on the board. I just shelved the game until he does make it better. I like the potential of the game. It's not a horrible effort, but I can't get passed the FA and trade engine.

I hope he makes it better.

That's what I am hoping for too, Troy (since FA and trades are probably the two most important features for me). I have a lot of other things I can do (like play World At War) and if the game gets better, I'll buy it and if not, I won't and move on.

Hey,
HeavyReign with FBCB/FBB and Shaun Sullivan of Puresim don't seem to have a problem answering what issues has been addressed or are being addressed. This makes it a lot easier to give a developer feedback so they know what needs fixing still. Most of us got jobs that don't allow us to spend all day beta testing. That is if the developer is looking to improve the game. I respect the effrot those single developers have put into there games. Which is something I can't say about BM2K6.

Maybe it's because his fan base has become much smaller, but I expected more bitching than what I've seen or read from here or over at bb mogul.

The game really has a lot of goofy issues that takes all of the fun out of it for me. Reminds me of the opposite of TPB 2005. A game that when released, you could tell had a lot of testing. I feel the opposite out of bb mogul. The game just feels thrown together.

Don't get me wrong, I can smell that "immersion" factor hiding somewhere in the game, Clay just needs to show us where it is.

Todd what version is the game on now. its 8.03 still?

because the demo is 8.04. just seems weird that no one mention 8.04 is out on the full version in the Mogul forum?

http://www.sportsmogul.com/demo/bb2k6demo.htm

i wonder what fix on 8.04

8.03 - that 8.04 was probably a mis-print.

Meaning, Clay probably put a 4 instead of a 3. Why would he upgrade the game, then only release a demo of it? Sounds ludicris to me.

the problem is Clay wont respond to this in the mogul forum.

if i had the game i will be piss if the demo is more updated than full version.

it makes no sense to have the demo at 8.04 and full version at 8.03

Since it was released this game has been the biggest disappoint in a sports sim game since Total Pro football 2004 from 400 studios. It looked like it had alot of promise but for whatever reason none of the issues free agency and f#*$ed up trades have been fixed. These are things that should of been noticed in a beta process. Well, what do you suspect for 20 bucks. I guess being a beta tester.

Nothing like a guy who can pitch 28 perfect games and hit 30+ homers... not to mention the fact that he actually requests a contract where he PAYS YOU to play

In thinking about this and see what others expect out of BM (and other baseball sims), I came up with a list of my 5 most important game elements:

1. Trade AI (both with the AI and between the AI)
2. Free Agency (in bidding on players and in the AI bidding on them)
3. Financials (in part related to #2 but the ability for the AI to be smart financially)
4. Historical Player Development (to have a wide enough variance so as not to be too predictable)
5. Drafting and Young Players (in historical leagues, this not much of an issue except that you would want to see young raw players with good potentials develop properly, i.e, growth in the minors)

If I were to play non-historical seasons, the list would still be similar (#1-3 would not change) but #5 moved up.

I don't play historical seasons, but the list is pretty near exact for everything else.

I want to be able to set up equal financials or a salary cap without a ton of tweaks. I want the trade AI and FA to be solid and enjoyable. I want player progression to be fairly accurate. (as Skydog has mentioned, this is the one thing all baseball sims seem to have an issue with)

Oh, and I'd like to be able to set up an entirely fictional universe without a ton of hassle. I can download and add my own logos, but I don't want to be forced to create an entire fictional league by hand. Just create one for me and let me play.

After having said all of that, I'm not sure why I took so ling to just go to PureSim, which has most of those things already set.

Version 8.06:
Bug fixed (newly build stadiums were being erased at year-end)

ROTY voting no longer pops up (bug introduced in 8.05)

Free Agents ask for shorter contracts if left on Free Agent list

"SP"/"RP" added to Scouting/ListView

Some improvements to amateur stats '<<' and '>>' in Scouting Report linked to list order in Free Agents and Amateur Draft

Free agent batters no longer added as pitchers (e.g. Brent Mayne in 2005)

Over-rated shortstops fixed

Fewer star players left on Free Agent list by Opening Day (this is true for the first season or two -- this area still needs work)

Improved Rosters and Projections (warning: these will automatically overwrite your 2005Rosters.csv, Batting.csv, Fielding.csv and Pitching.csv files - you should back them up if you made edits)

So, I read about six or seven pages of this thread and finally I couldn't handle it no more. What is the word on this game, worth a purchase? I have OOTP 6, but that's not cutting it for me right now. Which is better for baseball sim needs, this or PureSim?
