God DAMN Maryland was annoying. I beat them 24-21, but they just seemed to do everything right. Willy Korn's ass is officially benched until Al Francis gives me a reason to take him out. Ahhhh....a conference win is a conference win, though.

Here's hoping my rust in week 2 was just that, and not a big problem with my defense, guess I'll find out against a ranked Virginia Tech team.

We host #15 Virginia Tech. They're rated 89 and have an awesome defense. After a mediocre performance last week against Eastern Michigan I'm very worried.

On the second play of the game, we get a break that gets things off on the right foot:

That INT, returned to the 1 yard line, sets up a 1 play, 1 yard TD drive, Georgia Tech up 7-0. Virginia Tech manages a field goal later in the 1st quarter, but defense is going to rule the day here, and there are lots of sacks, INTs, and punts. I'm getting the INTs, Virginia Tech is sacking me every time I try to throw(Va Tech has two DE's with 84 speed that were just destroying my O-line and chasing me down every time I wanted to pass).

We put together one solid drive to go up 14-3, and Va Tech scores to make it 14-10 at the half.

The only offensive highlight comes in the 3rd quarter, as Blake Mann(I never renamed my players, Mann is Tyler Evans, rated much better in game heh) breaks a 38 yard TD run to make it 21-10 Georgia Tech:

The 4th quarter is when our defense really steps up. We don't get any INTs, but we just play great D and keep them on their own end of the field. We get a stop on 4th and 1, and later a stop on 4th and 3, both near midfield, to kill their only two semi-decent drives of the 2nd half.

Georgia Tech 21
#15 Virginia Tech 10

Defense absolutely ruled the day. Virginia Tech only had 206 yards of total offense (118 ground/88 passing), while we only had 222(181 ground/41 passing). Virginia Tech threw 4 INTs, while we had a fumble lost, and threw an INT.

A huge win over a ranked team, if we can win the rest of the games we'll be favored in we'll get the 8 win season that I'm counting on. This win gives me slim hopes of a 10 win season, though sirfozzie and karlifornia will both have something to say about that still.

Penn State slapped around USF today. Junior QB David Smith passed for 492 yards and 6 TD's with no picks. 3 Wideouts had 100+ yards receiving. The defense had another fine showing, collecting 5 sacks and picking the ball off twice. USF scored with 6 seconds left in the game to make it 70-24. David Smith now has 11 TD's and 2 INT's, while completing 70% of his passes and averaging 420 yards per game.

We destroyed Nebraska 48-17 and they only scored those 2 TD's in the 4th quarter. Sanchez had 383 yards and 2 TD's. McKnight had 127 yards on 20 carries including a jaw dropping 70 yard TD in which he hurdled one defender who went low and then ran over a safety before pulling away from the defense. However, McKnight was hurt later in the game and will miss a few weeks. Our defense was brilliant except for the 2 late TD's allowed which were both on long plays.

Can you explain to me the idea behind whipping a floor? Does get unlocked some extra shine or something?

Well, we lost 36-26 in a game that just took a strange turn right before the half. GG Dex.

Yeah that was tough.

ND was up 7 after a punt return with like 50 seconds left. I march down the field and manage a FG with like 3 seconds left. I pooch the kickoff and one of the upbacks for ND catches it. He dives forward to hit the ground, but he dives into my player, knocking the ball loose and then it's scooped up and returned for a TD to put us up 3 at the half.

Huge play.

One of the strangest plays I've seen. My offense just lost all of its steam after that. We played terrific in the first half. My defense just couldn't do enough. I'm thinking of dumping the 3-4 for a 4-3. I just don't feel it works as well as it should.

#1 Ohio State defeats #23 Washington 52-14. Washington had some things going but there was a clear personnel mismatch. This helped OSU's D cause a bunch of turnovers, a few of which got returned for TDs. T. Pryor hit big plays when needed as he was 12-14 292 yds 2 TDs.
GG Bigsmooth and you can forget about us playing when your team does get built up.

In a game marred by Hoosier turnovers, Indiana found ourselves trailing 24-21 late in the 4th against the visiting Bearcats. Kellen Lewis, who had turned the ball over three times on the day, had moved us into the redzone with under two minutes remaining.

Looking to run some clock and either tie or go ahead with little time left, Demetrius McCray coughs the ball up. Still, our defense had a chance to hold them to three-and-out and get the ball back. With Cincy facing third and eight and under a minute left on the clock, our defense looked to get our offense the ball back.

Not so much. Our defense instead allows a long touchdown to give Cincy a two score lead. Ballgame.
