The Ladder 2014 Season Thread

We are up and running! Invitations have been sent out. It's time to set up recruiting boards, redshirt players, set your depth chart, and request any schedule changes. Let's get this thing going!

Reminders:

1. Humans aren't allowed to keep FCS teams on their schedules.
2. You'll want to turn off recruiting assistance, or the CPU will mess with your recruiting board.

Everything looks good. I wish there was a way to edit coaches to import our old records, but given that NCAA 12 did a horrible job of updating coach prestige, being reset to a D- doesn't set me back much.

I swapped USF with Louisville so that it'd be possible to have a human vs. human showdown in the conference championship in the ACC. Also, I went with no protected rivals in the conferences with 12 teams, so teams in those conferences will play 9 conference games.

Conference championships will be played on the home field of the team with the best record.

Yeah, it'd be nice to keep coach records. With a little work, I could track that in a spreadsheet.

I am done...I don't know about my schedule, but I am fine with subbing in BYU and UCONN for any of my FCS games if I have them...honestly, I would like having both of them on my schedule.

Also, if you want to schedule another human team, let me know. It'll be weird not playing Buffalo.

Okay, your small conference leaves you with 6 unlocked games. I have added in BYU in Week 4, UConn in Week 8. Indiana at Buffalo in Week 3. Any other teams you'd like to get a crack at?

FCS teams on human schedules need to be removed. Here are the OOC games for each team as it stands right now.

Duke:
Week 1 Tulane
Week 3 FCS Midwest
Week 4 Wake Forest

Maryland (again, small division means more unlocked games on the schedule):
Week 2 FCS
Week 3 Wake Forest
Week 5 WVU
Week 7 Clemson
Week 10 FCS Northwest
Week 13 Florida State

Rice:
Week 3 Arkansas State
Week 4 Tulane
Week 6 San Luis Obispo

South Florida:
Week 2 Fairbanks
Week 3 Memphis
Week 5 San Luis Obispo

Please let me know if you'd like easier or harder teams on your schedule, or if you have a particular team you want me to try to schedule.

My team sucks (we're a C overall, 73 I think), I'll stick with the 3 bottom-dwellers in hopes of not being relegated while the youngsters are developing.

My team is all set to go. Had some odd things in our depth chart with duplicate players. I moved in an appropriate player and the duplicate disappeared, but everyone should keep a close watch on their depth chart as they set them (unless I'm the last one in which case it is too late.)

This happens in my offline dynasty as well. Looks like a general bug with NCAA 13.

We win our opening game 30-17 over Fairbanks. They faked a punt deep in their own end to set us up for one TD, and we returned the favor with a fumble deep in our own end to set them up. 10-10 late in the first half, we got a TD right before the half and on our opening second half drive to build some separation, and we each scored one more TD (them in garbage time with our backups on the field) for the final.

Typical playcalling by the AI - good RB who was averaging one broken tackle per run, so they threw the ball a lot.

That was an ugly game. My QBs combined for 5 picks, one of them a pick-6.

Done, was able to pull out the win against BYU.

One thing I realized as I was recruiting NY, was my team doesn't have NY as a pipeline state and my players are all from the surrounding states.

I know I used Duke as my base roster, but it appears that the school has been move north -- to New York, I think.

I had an awful 1st half in my opening game -- probably rust from inactivity. I think I threw 4 picks. I was able to get it together in the 2nd half for a comfortable win.

I like the addition of scouting, but they don't give you anywhere near enough time time to do it, especially once the season starts.

My future mother in law has been in hospital for two days with cardiac issues... Between that and a horrible work week, I likely will need an extra day or two.

We lost our starting QB (although some fans argue he should be our #2) early in the 1st, but we had too much speed at the skill positions and we took a 28-0 lead in the 1st half and cruised to a 42-13 win. Clayton had a nice start to the season with 19 rushes for 142 yards and 3 TD's. Our defense had a few picks, although we lost our starting CB late in the game, and he will be gone for most of the year so that was a big loss early.

We had trouble early with Memphis, we could not stop their offense and trailed at the half. We finally figured out the correct playcalls and dominated the second half to pull away with the win.

USC had trouble with San Diego State's offense, but our offense was really clicking despite our starting RB getting knocked out of the game. We passed for over 300 yards and 5 TD's in a 42-25 win.
