Your all-time team for your favorite team

So a Blue Jays blogger listed his all-time Jays team.

It made me think about my own. The game here is simple, one favorite team and your favorite players at position from said team. Obviously for football, you don't have to list everyone. (OMGZ FAVORITE LONG SNAPPER)

But it might be fun(ish).

I broke the rules and listed the 3 teams that I follow
Syracuse hoops fan since 1990, so:

G Gerry McNamara
G Lawrence Moten (guard/foward)
F Carmelo Anthony
F John Wallace
C Otis Hill

Bench:
C Etan thomas
F Hakim Warrick
G Mike Hopkins

Boeheim never plays more than 8, so that is enough.

Yankees, since 1980's:
C Jorge Posada
1B Mattingly
2B: Robinson Cano
3B: Scott Brosius
SS: Derek Jeter
OF: Paul O'Neill, Bernie Williams, Matsui
P: Andy Pettite, Orlando Hernandez, Mariano Rivera

Giants football since 1983:
QB Eli Manning
RB Brandon Jacobs
WR: Victor Cruz, Amani Toomer
TE: Mark Bavaro
DL: JPP, Michael Strahan
LB: Harry Carson, Lawrence Taylor
CB/S: Who likes guys in the secondary? I guess Everson Walls.

Leaving off the pre-Knight-era guys due to a lack of familiarity, or else Schlundt and Bellamy would have made the cut.

This thread is really about your favorites, so feel emboldened to leave off the "best evar" simply because he was, if he wasn't one of your favorites.

All-Time Steelers:

QB - Ben Roethlisberger. Starting out with the most controversial choice, I'd rather have Big Ben over Terry Bradshaw simply because I think Ben has done more with less than Terry. Still, this is easily arguable.
RB - Franco Harris. Franco vs. Jerome Bettis is very, very close. The Immaculate Reception gets Franco the nod.
FB - Rocky Bleier
WR - John Stallworth
WR - Hines Ward
No Lynn Swann? Nope, I'd rather have those two guys.
TE - Heath Miller
OT - Larry Brown
OG - Dermontti Dawson - Yeah, he played Center the majority of his career, but he started at OG in his 1st season and I'll use him there.
C - Mike Webster
OG - Alan Fanica
OT - Tunch Ilkin

(13 players on defense due to the 4-3 and 3-4 decades)

DT - Joe Greene - The Best Ever and the cornerstone of the franchise
DT - Ernie Stautner - By a hair over Casey Hampton
DE - LC Greenwood
DE - Aaron Smith - Perhaps the most underrated player in the last decade
OLB - Jack Ham
OLB - James Harrison - Another close battle. Could have gone with Joey Porter, Greg Lloyd or even Kevin Greene, but I think Harrison at his peak was more complete than any of them.
ILB - Jack Lambert
ILB - Andy Russell - By just a hair over James Farrior
CB - Rod Woodson - The most complete CB in the history of the NFL
CB - Mel Blount
S - Troy Polamalu
S - Donnie Shell - I hate leaving Carnell Lake off this list, but...

Going off of favorites since I really started watching and following football when I was about 12 or so. Some positions like TE and LB is really tough to do given who the Vikings have had since then and it says a lot about the QBs the Vikings have had when the choice is a guy who started 23 games for them.

Not to mention playing Ed McDaniel at guard instead of linebacker and leaving off an all time great in Randal McDaniel

Hard to leave off Gary Zimmerman, Chris Doleman and Keith Millard as well IMO.

If it was a list of greatest all time of course they'd be on there. Tough for them to make a list of favorites that's based on watching guys play when they're so far before my time.

Is Sauerbrun the first guy to be listed for two different teams?

[Aah, we have Ricky Williams.]

Very good list. I have a few quibbles:

I'd take Steve Sewell as the second RB
Rick Upchurch as a PR/WR
Dennis Smith would go over Jon Lynch
Louis Wright would go over Braxton and I'd throw Braxton in as the nickle back
Tom Rouen would be my punter
Lastly, I like Wolfe, but I don't think he deserves a spot yet. I might go three/four and add Randy Gradishar in as a second ILB

Oh, one more thing, serious apologies to Tombstone Jackson. by most accounts, the best player this organization ever had before #7 came to town. I just never saw him, so I can't comment on him as a favorite. Ditto for Floyd Little.

UNLV Runnin' Rebels men's basketball

PG Reggie Theus (He had the passing skills of an elite point guard, so I'm putting him here)
SG Stacey "The Plastic Man" Augmon
SF Mike Moser
PF Larry "Grandmama" Johnson
CE Sidney Green (He gets lost a bit because he came after Theus and before LJ, Anthony, and Augmon, but he's the first true star center UNLV had)

6th Anthony Bennett (PF) - I almost put him starting at CE, but I can't justify a 6'7 C
7th Chace Stanback (SG/SF/PF)
8th Armen "The Hammer" Gilliam (PF)
9th "Sudden" Sam Smith (SG/SF)
10th Greg Anthony (PG)
11th Ricky Sobers (PG/SG)
12th Brice Massamba (PF/C) - Strictly a fan favorite pick. He wasn't that good, but I loved watching fat boy hustle and get some boards and draw some fouls
