I'm surprised that there are only two Atlanta Falcons teams in the entire tournament.

Love it. That 1-15 Panthers team was godawful. Won their first, lost the next 15. I think they have a chance here as long as they don't fuck up and win right away like in the real world.

Within the brackets I used record and point differential. I tried to spread the teams into brackets as I went through the teams. Initially had up to three win teams but already had brackets filling up before getting through the 90's (going backwards).

I think the 76 Buccaneers are the odds on favorites going in. With an average of a 20.5 loss, that is dreadful.

8) 2002 Cincinnati Bengals vs. 9) 1992 Seattle Seahawks

The 92 Seahawks score twice in the first quarter on a 1 yard run by John Williams and a 4 yard run by James Jones to take a 14-0 lead after 15 minutes of play.

The 02 Bengals storm back in the 2nd quarter as they put 17 on the board behind touchdown runs by Lorenzo Neal and Corey Dillon and a 43 yard Neil Rackers field goal and they take a 17-14 lead into the half.

A 5 yard Stan Gelbaugh to Tommy Kane touchdown pass in the third gives the Seahawks a 21-17 lead and they add a 27 yard John Kasay field goal to lead 24-17 after the third quarter.

An early Neil Rackers 38 yard field goal pulls the Bengals to within 24-20 with over 10 minutes left in the game. After forcing a punt the Bengals go on a 15 play drive that gets to the Seahawks 11 yard line with under 2 minutes remaining. On 4th and 5 Jon Kitna is sacked by Robert Blackmon to end the drive. The Seahawks run the clock out and are eliminated with the 24-20 victory.

Corey Dillon was the Most Unvaluable Player as he averages just over 3 yards a carry with 62 yards rushing on 20 carries, though he did score a touchdown.

5) 1967 Atlanta Falcons vs. 12) 1979 San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers take the lead in the first as Steve DeBerg hits Freddie Solomon for a 7 yard touchdown. They hold the 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter the Falcons tie the game up early with a 17 yard touchdown run by Junior Coffey. With just over 3 minutes left in the first half Ron Rector scores on a 6 yard run to give the Falcons a 14-7 lead at the half.

The 49ers score the only points of the 3rd quarter on a Ray Wersching 44 yard field goal and they Falcons lead 14-10 heading into the final fifteen minutes of the game.

With 6:32 to go in the game Steve DeBerg hits Bob Bruer for a 13 yard touchdown pass to give the 49ers a 17-14 lead. The Falcons go three and out and the 49ers would drive into Falcon territory but an interception by Lee Celland would give the Falcons the ball at their own 41 with 1:48 left in the game. The Falcons would drive to the 49ers 22 but stall there and attempt a 39 yard field goal as time expires but Wade Traynham's kick would miss, his second missed field goal of the game and the Falcons would advance with a 17-14 loss.

Most Unvaluable Player of the game is Falcons' quarterback Randy Johnson who was 10 of 21 for 154 yards with 1 interception. Wade Traynham was a close second with two missed field goals.

4) 1971 Buffalo Bills vs. 13) 1970 Boston Patriots

The Bills opened the scoring with a John Leypoidt 22 yard field goal with just under 8 minutes remaining in the 1st quarter. On the following drive the Patriots drove down field and Joe Kapp hits Charley Frazier on a 7 yard touchdown pass to give the Patriots a 7-3 lead. The first quarter would end with the Patriots up 7-3.

From there the Patriots went belly up as the Bills would score the final 28 points of the game and win 31-7. The Patriots advance with the loss. The first big upset as the #4 seed is knocked off.

In the win Dennis Shaw was 18 of 23 for 266 yards with 2 touchdowns as his Bills eliminate themselves with the win.

The Most Unvaluable Player will be a joint achievement as the Patriots offense managed under 200 yards of offense and only 2 drives that crossed the 50. The entire starting offensive unit gets the award.

6) 1966 New York Giants vs. 11) 2014 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Giants score first on a Charlie Mercelin 7 yard touchdown run. They do not look back as they route the Buccaneers 35-14 behind a strong performance by quarterback Earl Morrall. Back to back upsets.

Quarterback Josh McCown is named the game's Most Unvaluable Player as he was 13 of 21 for 157 yards with 3 interceptions, he also fumbled the ball 1 time during the 4 times he was sacked.

3) 2000 San Diego Chargers vs. 14) 1963 San Francisco 49ers

The San Diego Chargers dominate the game and win 24-0. Ryan Leaf was 19 of 33 for 233 yards with 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in the win. Oddly, he can't even lose when he is supposed to.

Quarterback Lamar Hunt of the 49ers is named the game's Most Unvaluable Player as he was 5 of 23 for 45 yards with 1 interception. His backup John Brodie was only 1 of 6 for 15 yards. The team goes a combined 6 of 29 for 60 yards in their passing game.

Their entire offense could be considered as they had only 103 yards of total offense in the game but that stat-line for a quarterback was just too underwhelming to not name him the MUP.

7) 2011 St. Louis Rams vs. 10) 2006 Oakland Raiders

Sam Bradford hits Lance Kendricks with a 15 yard touchdown pass on their first possession of the game to give the Rams a 7-0 lead, which is how the first quarter ends.

Each team hits a field goal in the second quarter as the game is 10-3 in favor of the Rams at the half.

The third quarter is all Raiders as they score on a 1 yard ReShard Lee run and a 50 yard pass from Andrew Walter to Alvis Whitted. The Raiders lead 17-10 after the third quarter.

Neither team gets inside the other's 40 in the 4th quarter and the game ends with the Raiders winning 17-10 and being eliminated.

Running back Steven Jackson is named the game's Most Unvaluable Player as he runs for 50 yards and averages just over 2 yards per carry.

2) 1989 Dallas Cowboys vs. 15) 1968 Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons get on the board first with a Harmon Wages 2 yard touchdown run and a Bob Berry 46 yard touchdown pass to Jerry Simmons. The Falcons lead 14-0 after the first quarter.

The Cowboys get a 26 Luis Zendejas field goal and a 23 yard Steve Walsh to James Dixon touchdown pass to get back to 14-10. The Falcons respond with a late Bob Berry to Jerry Simmons 1 yard touchdown pass to make it 21-10 at the half.

A Bob Berry to Ray Ogden 16 yard touchdown pass is the only scoring of the 3rd quarter as the Falcons lead 28-10 after three quarters of play.

Steve Walsh hits Paul Palmer for an 11 yard touchdown pass to get the Cowboys back to 28-17 with just 4:13 left. After forcing a 3 and out the Cowboys drive the distance as Walsh hits Steve Folsom on a 9 yard pass to make it 28-23 as they miss the 2 point conversion. They are unable to recover the onside kick and the Falcons win 28-23 to eliminate themselves.

Cowboy running back Herschel Walker is the Most Unvaluable Player as he rushed for 55 yards on less the 3 yards a carry.

1) 2009 St. Louis Rams vs. 16) 1977 Kansas City Chiefs

In a defensive first quarter only the Chiefs got on the board with a 30 yard Jan Stenerud field goal and they would lead 3-0 after 15 minutes of play.

On the 1st play of the second quarter Ed Podolak would score for the Chiefs on a 10 yard touchdown run to give them a 10-0 lead. The Rams would answer on their next drive and Marc Bulger would hit Randy McMichael for a 6 yard touchdown pass to get back to 10-7. After forcing a punt the Rams would again find the end zone as Bulger hits Donnie Avery with an 8 yard touchdown pass as the Rams take a 14-10 lead with just over 3 minutes left in the half. The Chiefs would answer with a 30 yard Jan Stenerud field goal as the first half comes to a close. The Rams lead 14-13 at the break.

The Rams would take the kickoff for the second half and drive the distance, ending with a 10 yard touchdown pass from Bulger to Brandon Gibson to make it 21-13. Jan Stenerud would hit another field goal this one 31 yards as the Chiefs only points of the quarter. After three quarters the Rams lead 21-16.

With just under 11 minutes left in the game the Chiefs would again stall and Stenerud would hit a 22 yard field goal, his 4th of the night, to get the Chiefs back to 21-19. After forcing a punt the Chiefs go on a 6 minute drive that ends with Mike Livingston hitting Ed Podolak with a 5 yard touchdown pass as the Chiefs take a 26-21 lead. The Rams respond with a 75 yard drive that ends with Bulger hitting Randy McMichael for a 15 yard touchdown pass; they miss the two point conversion but lead 27-26 with 38 seconds left. The Chiefs start the nest drive at their own 40. On a 4th and 2 Livingston hits Walter White for a 17 yard gain to the Rams' 35 and they call their final timeout with 3 seconds left. Jan Stenerud hits a 52 yard field goal as time expires as the Chiefs win 29-27.

Hard to name a Most Unvaluable Player for the game but I think I will have to go with a controversial choice and say Rams' quarterback Marc Bulger. Yes, he threw 4 touchdowns. Yes he was only picked off 1 time. But he only completed 11 passes all game (4 of them for touchdowns, has to be a record for ratio) and threw for a grand total of 132 yards.

8) 2004 San Francisco 49ers vs. 9) 2014 Tennessee Titans

The first quarter was all about the field goal as the Titans scored twice on Ryan Succop field goals of 22 and 38 yards to take a 6-0 lead. With just over a minute left in the quarter Todd Peterson hit a 41 yard field goal to get the 49ers on the board, down 6-3.

With 2:24 left in the first half Todd Peterson hits a 24 yard field goal to tie the game 6-6 as the 49ers' drive stalled on the 7 yard line. The Titans answered by driving the distance and scoring the first touchdown of the game as Charlie Whitehurst hits Kendall Wright for a 6 yard touchdown to give the Titans a 13-6 lead with 53 seconds left in the half. The 49ers drive to the Titans 7 and Peterson kicks another 24 yard field goal to end the first half down 13-9.

Each team manages a field goal in the third quarter and after forty five minutes of play the Titans lead 16-12.

On their first drive of the final quarter Tim Rattay hits Brandon Lloyd for a 35 yard score to put the 49ers up 19-16 with 13:23 left in the game. On their next drive the Titans try a 51 yard field goal and Succop hits it to tie the game 19-19 with 9:36 left. After forcing a three and out the Titans take over on their own 38 and drive 62 yards on 6 plays, capped by a 9 yard touchdown pass from Whitehurst to Dexter McCluster to give the Titans a 26-19 lead. The 49ers drive into Titans territory to the 10 yard line but a Kevan Barlow fumble gives the ball to the Titans at the two minute warning. After forcing a three and out the 49ers start at their own 43 and drive to the Titan's 9 yard line, 1st and goal with 13 seconds left. Two incomplete passes later and it is 3rd and goal with 1 second left. Rattay is sacked by Kamerion Wimbley on the final play of the game to give the Titans a 26-19 victory as the 49ers move on with the loss.

49ers' quarterback Tim Rattay is the Most Unvaluable Player of the game as he was intercepted 3 times and saw too many drives stall inside the 10.

After a scoreless third quarter and most of the 4th quarter the Bears drive into Steelers' territory and Mac Percival hits a 25 yard field goal with 1:56 left to give the Bears a 17-14 lead. On the very next play from scrimmage after the kickoff Dick Hoak breaks off a 66 yard touchdown run to give the Steelers a 20-17 lead, as they miss the extra point, with just 1:39 left. The Bears start at their own 32 and drive to the Steelers' 37 where they stall and try a 54 yard field goal with 35 seconds left. Wish you could do the '89 Cowboys without Herschel Walker. Good stuff though.

Very cool concept.

I've seen some godawful Colts teams. That 1991 team was the worst of the bunch. The lone win came by 1 point. Still one of the worst offenses in modern NFL history.

1) 1982 Baltimore Colts vs. 16) 1974 Baltimore Colts

The 1974 Colts take the lead late in the 1st quarter as Toni Linhart hits a 37 yard field goal to give the 1974 Colts a 3-0 lead. The 1st quarter would end with that sore intact.

Near the end of a mostly boring 2nd quarter Mike Pagel would hit Randy McMillan for a 58 yard touchdown pass to give the 1982 Colts a 7-3 lead. They would maintain that lead into halftime.

Late in the 3rd quarter Bert Jones would hit Lydell Mitchell for a 2 yard touchdown pass to give the 1974 Colts a 10-7 lead which is how the quarter would end.

Midway through the 4th quarter Mike Pagel would hit Curtis Dickey for a 15 yard touchdown to give the 1982 Colts a 14-10 lead. After stopping the 1974 Colts the 1982 Colts would put the game out of reach with under two minutes to go as Mike Pagel hits Matt Bouza for a 4 yard touchdown to increase their lead to 21-10 which would be the final score. We have our biggest upset as a #1 seed beats a #16 seed.

Quarterback Bert Jones is the game's Most Unvaluable Player as he was 14 for 32 for 143 yards, though he did throw 1 touchdown pass.
