Bring lots of dough to eat. Vegas food on the strip is insanely expensive. Even the chains

Not totally sure what we have booked. Other's in the group are doing that, and I'm along for the ride. Mrs. A and I are gettting in a night early.

Open to any cuisines. Some preference against generic-fancy like a steakhouse or "Contemporary American." If possible, I'd like it to feel like it isn't just a restaurant that happens to be in Vegas.

I'm not a huge ambiance guy, but Mrs. A is, so either way is fine with that.

Budget is moderate-high. Two people with drinks for under $150 would be great.

When we went to Vegas for our first anniversary, we had our anniversary dinner at the top of the Stratosphere, Top of the World. Good food, great view. That might be in the $150 range.

If you're into burgers, when we were there a couple of years ago, we tried a burger spot that we saw on Diners, Driveins, and Dives that was good. The place is called Bachi Burger. If you go, try the oxtail chili cheese fries.

If you like Thai food, I think Lotus of Siam has reopened at their new location. It is a little bit off of the Strip, but not too far.

This. I haven't eaten at Lotus of Siam myself (though will the next time I eat Thai), but it's generally considered the best Thai place in a city that's full of great places. If you don't want to venture off the Strip, Lemongrass in Aria is my favorite Thai restaurant I've actually eaten at.

My favorite place to go for a celebratory dinner is Mon Ami Gabi in Paris. If you can get a patio table, you can people watch the Strip as you eat. Even my sister, who is picky about what she eats (health nut), enjoyed her food there.

just beware that Lotus has moved, and still doesn't have a liquor permit

think you can bring a bottle of wine, but Im not riding to a liquor store, buying,then cabbing to dinner and cabbing home. unsure if they would have the balls to charge a corking fee but probably.

its vegas. too many options for this run around.

would love to hear any other suggestions.

I can vouch for Smith and Wolenski's (sp?) but that's a place you spend 60 bucks on a steak and all it comes with is the plate.

Ellis Island Pub & Cafe and the BBQ joint are amazing and cheap.

Southpoint Casino has a large restaurant that offers just this. They've got great late night/early morning meals that are dirt cheap. Been there a few times after nights out with friends.

Thanks for the food suggestions. We are staying at the Bellagio, so we will keep it simple and have dinner at Mon Ami Gabi. The idea of being able to see the Strip and fountains while we eat is nice.

The next night, we are going to the Peppermill and then Ms. A and I to a Cirque show.

Breakfast at Bouchon the next morning, then some free time, ending the night downtown.

Am I correct in assuming that the lower limit tables are much easier to find downtown. That's the sense I get.

Any suggestions of anything fun to see or do is welcome. Or, if there is something that is horribly overrated, feel free to give a warning.

Oh, and is there a clearly best place to get last minute tickets to stuff. Like, the show's in a hour, we'll take what you have at half-price sort of thing?
