Looks like USC's top offensive lineman is done for the year with a torn pectoral muscle and possibly also a torn triceps.

FSU-Miami might get moved to noon to avoid another hurricane in Florida on Sunday.

Some interesting games today.

Early
The 12pm bracket is mostly feature blowouts for big teams but if feels like Wake could hang with Clemson for a bit and Georgia gets to prove a bit more about itself with a Vandy team that has been good against anyone other than Bama.

The highlight should be the Duke-UVA game as both are looking like bowl participants but UVA has more to prove.

Afternoon
The 3:30-4 bracket is much better. TCU gets to stake its claim as a legit playoff contender with a chance to put down a good WVU team.

Miami could simultaneously cripple the FSU season while putting themselves on the outer edge of playoff contention with their toughest remaining games at home.

Florida and LSU get to battle in an overrated SEC clash while Purdue and Minnesota highlights two of the better young coaches in the conference. Western Michigan vs Buffalo and Colorado St vs Utah St give us two of the better group of 5 matchups of the week.

My highlight is the Maryland - tOSU matchup. Even with their 3rd string QB playing, take the Terps +30.5. They're athletic and they've got enough defense to keep the mediocre QB play of Barrett in check. The Buckeyes win, but barring another QB injury the Terps cover.

Night
The 7-8 PM bracket starts in the American Conference. I expect SMU to be the next AAC team to stake a claim to a top 25 ranking. Morris has them going the right direction and it looks like Ed Oliver will be out for Houston. The AAC keeps closing the gap with the power 5 conferences and after this week USF, UCF, SMU, and Navy will all have legit arguments for being ranked.

Tom Hermann has a chance to get UT headed the right direction against a solid KState team. aTm has been fine after blowing the UCLA game but Bama is a different animal altogether. Might be close for a while but the Tide rolls eventually. MSU-UM compete in the Offensively Challenged Bowl. Wouldn't be shocked if Sparty pulls the upset. A Wazzou win over Oregon, even with the injuries, should continue the hype towards an epic Apple Cup this year.

Late Night
Bryce Love could put a dent in Utah's claim to being a real contender. I suspect the Cardinal take this as the Utes have struggled mightily with a couple of bad teams in Arizona and BYU.

Washington handles an okay Cal team that needs more time for Wilcox to make them good.

Upset pick of the week is UNLV knocking off SD State for no good reason.

Are they really doing a College Gameday story about people flying the Washington State flag at College Gameday?

Oh, come on! Iowa isn't that bad. I think they will beat Minnesota, Northwestern, Purdue, and Nebraska.

No worries! When they win today they will be right back on track to win out. Lets not forgot just 2 weeks ago they were going to beat Penn St in a rematch in the championship game.

Iowa State's starting QB is out today and still Oklahoma isn't pummeling them the way they should.

Barkley with 9 carries for 0 yards and 1 TD. Ridiculous line and State Penn is still up 17-0.

Oklahoma's defense is mediocre at best, OU has four scores on five possessions, Iowa St is running clock and converting first downs. After watching Iowa State's starter against Texas it isn't a bad thing he didn't make the trip.

I would say Oklahoma needs to blitz more but not sure their db's can hold up. Barkley getting way to much love for Heisman in my opinion.

I'm sure I've seen this before but it just hit me when watching Northwesterns ejected player go back up in the inflatable tunnel tied down with stakes just behind the end zone, that having an inflatable tunnel tied down with exposed stakes just behind the end zone is pretty fucking dangerous.

Gotta feel sorry for the Wake Forest defense. The offense just has no chance. Defense is actually playing a great game.

I wonder what they would have done with Wolford healthy today. He really makes that WF offense better than they are.

They would be on the board that is for sure. They are just scared to pass with Hinton and Clemson is too difficult to run on.

An interesting question for me is whether Ole Miss might have been this bad regardless of their coaching situation.

I think it's a distinct possibility. The defense is atrocious, the offense is one dimensional. Not sure that all lands on the overmatched interim HC.

Hasnt Ole Miss had terrible special teams this year? That is usually a discipline issue and can fall directly on coaching.

They weren't great last year as I recall, on the coverage end of things.

Patterson was overhyped, the running game is non-existent (how the fuck an SEC team ends up with no RBs worth a scholarship is truly mindboggling), and there's no defense to speak of.

No interim coach can manage to fuck a roster that completely in a matter of weeks, they just can't. (No, I'm not remotely suggesting that absolves him of being out of his depth, I'm jus sayin)

So now if Georgia & Bama run the table (which would mean both beat Auburn) and then UGA beats Bama in the title game, then the SEC gets two teams in the final four.

All three college playoff champs have lost a home game that season, with Clemson and Ohio State losing to unranked teams.

Anyone watching ULM/Texas State by any chance? The color commentator, who I heard last week also, is beyond grating. Speaks in long monotone paragraphs and obvious statements, drones and drones. Makes my ears bleed.

Now there's a loss that might get some grumbling going in Gainesville.

Michigan encapsulates their season so far in a good opening drive that takes up almost seven minutes, 16 plays or so ... and ends in a 30-yd Nordin FG. Aspects of quite good, along with the two red-zone passes that had no chance making one wonder if there really isn't anything better to try in there.

The WMU - Buffalo game (and regular season Ovi for the Caps) has distracted me from the latest Nats failure.

65-65 in 7OT on ESPNU.

Can they just declare this MSU - UM game a tie and end it? Both teams were a mess before a huge rain shower and now it's a complete shit show. The refs have decided to help out Michigan as much as possible with a bizarre spot on a MSU second down and then calling a phantom Unsportsmanlike after Michigan's "QB" took a dive following yet another INT. What a mess.

What was the stat I saw in the Mich/Mich St recap, something like 8 of 10 for Sparty, for the first time in the history of a series that dates to 1898.

Gary Andersen waives his contract at Oregon State and steps aside. Granted, things weren't going well in year 3 there, but this is a very surprising move. Coaches don't just walk away from buyouts unless there's something more going on.

Just watch the video. As large as the screen will allow, because the stupidity needs to be seen in full view.

He likes to leave schools in surprising ways. No ill will toward him for how he left Wisconsin as I think Paul Chryst was the guy all along that should've replaced Bielema when we bolted.
