FM2014 Interactive Dynasty - Sign Up

Alright, it's been a while since I've done one of these so let's try to start one up.

All players will start at age 16 but please choose to have at least one nationality in the EU. Potential ability will be set at -10 unless you say otherwise. Sign-up format below:

Name:
Date of Birth:
Nationality:
Secondary Nationality (optional):
Position:
3 stats at 20:
3 stats at 15:
Others: (anything else you want here, such as favourite clubs, lower potential ability, specific requests)

The actual dynasty will probably start next week. Let's see how many sign-ups we get.

Stats at 20: Anticipation, Decisions, Positioning
Stats at 15: [s]First Touch, [/s]Marking, Stamina, Passing

If first touch doesn't make any sense for a DM, let me know and I could make it passing. But you can probably sense the kind of player I'm thinking about here.

I'll get mine in in the next 24 hours. What does potential ability set at -10 mean?

How does this work? Are all these players on the same team or are they just created and released into the FM universe and progress is tracked and reported as the game is simmed?

Fm2014 uses a scale of 1-200 for the players, with 1 being the worst player on the planet and 200 being the best. Someone like Messi for example is like a high 180s if I remember right.

Setting potential ability at -10 means that the player will have the potential to reach between 180+ in terms of ability. I find it makes the players more interesting to follow rather than completely randomising and having true journeyman players who may never have a real career. But this potential may never be fully tapped because it does depend on other factors and past dynasties show how different player career paths can be.

The other thing is that having a high general ability doesn't necessarily mean the player will have the right stats for his role, which is why everyone gets to pick a few stats to push up to a high level.

Still tweaking the settings. A few earlier runs failed because some of the players didn't get picked up. I've got a file now where everyone has been signed but the problem is that more than half have been signed by Turkish clubs.

Will continue tweaking.

Yeah, seeing ^ convinces me that First Touch isn't as meaningful for a DM as Passing. Fix Jawouk!

Latest sign-ups are in. Will probably close it soon, we are at 13 I think.

Next round of simulations with another round of tweaks.

Just as an update, in the last round of simming, the players all found clubs of varying sizes but more than half were with Turkish clubs. Jace Hunter was probably the biggest player after a couple of seasons (backup at Liverpool).

Wow, those Turkish clubs are all about giving us chances.

But that's okay, right? I mean, playing in Turkey could be a pathway to bigger leagues.

Still trying to figure that out. Issue with that sim was that all the guys in Turkish clubs would stay in the reserve squads for 2-3 seasons and not play much at all.

Seems realistic for 16 year-olds to sit in the reserves for two or three years, unless you make everyone wonderkids or try and get them signed by lower league teams.

It's been a mixed bag I think. Some players in that sim had more development largely because they were loaned out and played more compared to the guys just sitting in the reserve teams. Trying to find a balance so that the chance of a player having no career is reduced without guaranteeing that they will all have superstar careers.

I have to say it was easier to do this on older versions of FM, not entirely sure what has changed in relation to the scouting mechanics for AI teams.

Latest tweaks seem to be working relatively well. Everyone is at a club and showing some form of progress after a couple of seasons. Running another 3 seasons to see how it goes.

Highlights so far:
A few players in the reserve or U-21 teams of Premier League clubs
One in the PSG U-21 side
One starter for Aberdeen

So after 6 seasons in the trial run:

3 players have retired early (Jawouk, Dex and Kuji)
2 players valued over 20 million (Deacon and Eddie)
A mix of clubs, ranging from big clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal to mid-table Premier League sides and a couple of Turkish clubs

Let me know if you want to tweak any other stats before I start this next week.

If that's the lowest level for a bunch of 22 year-olds then that's pretty good.

Do you recall if the three that retired did so through injury or due to not beigng able to find a club?

If first touch doesn't make any sense for a DM, let me know and I could make it passing. But you can probably sense the kind of player I'm thinking about here.

Let's switch up the mental and technical/physical attributes...

Heh sorry can't really tell because I left it on a 3 season sim while doing other things just to see how it would pan out. I normally would do 6 month blocks in the actual dynasty so that I can see what changes easily.
