Here we go again: ESPN hyping HS game and star.

It seems that we go through this every year. espn hypes a hs game and a player, naming him ''Little LeBron'' Then a few years down the road if he doesn't pan out ESPN will criticize the nba the parent sand the player himself.....damn hypocrits.

Yes. Every year we have ESPN hyping a "little LeBron."

Not only is he 7' but he is reportedly very skilled. I agree ESPN is overhyping the guy, but like LeBron this guy might live up to it.. or he might crumble under the hype.

I'm guessing you guys are talking about Oden? I'm from Indy, and everything I've heard about the kid is very good. I'm not sure if he's decided if he's going to college or not yet, last I read he wasn't sure.

He keeps saying he is going to college, afterall he has a 3.9 gpa, but I have a feeling when it comes time money will talk.

There is no reason for Oden to go to college. He is a lock for the #1 pick, and a 3 year guarantee of about 15 million dollars, with a likely 4th year option pickup of another 6 million or so. I would take the 21 million if i were him.

Sometimes it's hard to blame the media for this. The fact is, people are interested, people watch the game, and it gets ratings that translate into advertising revenue.

You wish they would use a little discretion sometimes, but these people have jobs and want to take care of their families like we all do.

Sure he's only 3 years old, but he's a lock. He's my cousin's little boy. She's 6 foot 1, her hubby is 6 foot 8, and he has two brothers over 7 foot. He's gonna be a giant. He is already p0wning the other kids on the pre-school court.

I played against Oden in 4th grade. It was his first year ever playing, and he was horrible... but he was over 6' at the time. My good friend blocked his shot though, and now that gets talked about all of the time. It is crazy to think that I have played against someone that has a great chance of being a #1 pick....
