The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou

I got to see it last night (at the World Premiere!), and it was a fantastic movie. Any Wes Anderson fan will enjoy it for sure. The very Bowie-heavy soundtrack was interesting, and Anderson/Mark Mothersbaugh did their usual amazing job of making the music really drive the film, not just sort of 'be there.'

I don't think it's as good as The Royal Tennenbaums (possibly my favorite movie ever), but it made for a solid first viewing. And as is usual with Anderson films, it's not really as completely comedic as the preview makes it out to be. It's a pretty touching story overall, really.

Solid performances from an excellent cast, with Bill Murray and Cate Blanchette especially good.

I heartily recommend it.

i was disappointed. it just got too chic for being chic's sake. ill hold spoilers till more people have seen it...but i really felt it missed the heart that RTennenbaums and Rushmore had.

Also, Anderson's first 2 movies had been written by him and at least one of the Wilson brothers i think. this one is anderson and someone else, and to me, it shows.

First 3 actually ya mean, Owen helped write all three of 'em.

Bottle Rocket being the one people know the least, good flick though.

Yeah Owen helped with the first three. I was surprised to see he didn't help with this script. But he does star in it. I can't wait to see this movie. Rushmore is one of my favorite all time movies, the other two are up there as well for me.
