Mojito
I just tried this drink at a Cuban restaurant in Philadelphia and loved it. I got back last night and decided to try to make one. Not as good, for my first time making one but I'll keep working on it.
At first when I tasted the hint of mint in the drink I thought I hated it but after a few sips, it's pretty nice. Who else has tried these? Any tips in making your own?

I had a few in a bar outside Boston. I like them a lot, but I can't help get the feeling I'm drinking a girl drink, like a cosmopolitan. I've since held off since that time...especially since it's pretty difficult to get raw sugar cane

I'll have to check the mix out at Target. Thanks for the heads up.

If you prepare it like that, I'm not sure if you'd get the sugar to dissolve or not. All mojito recipes I've seen call for using a sugar syrup, I don't remember if it needed to be made warm or not.

Hmm, replace the rum with bourbon and leave out the lime and this sounds a lot like a mint julep. Last edited by Peregrine : 07-25-2005 at 10:58 PM. |

Mojito's are hard to make. I've had multiple instances where bartenders did a shitty job mixing them, and the one party where friends tried to make them they were a disaster. Almost invariably it's the case that the sugar isn't mixed properly.

I have a home concoction. I just serve it whenever me and my friends drink in my place.
"Who The Hell You!?" - 1 part vodka, 1 part tequilla, 1 part gin, 1 part brandy, 2 parts red horse beer, 2 parts sprite, 1 part Extra Joss (it's like red-bull energy drink) and 1 part Gatorade Blue (gives it that glowing blue look). It's got a wierd taste... but man oh man... you're going to say those words when you wake up the next day with a stranger.

Sounds plenty potent, but wouldn't using that ESPN flavored Powerade make all the difference? |
