Trivia--first year instant replay used

This story, and the Heidi game, make me think that people used to have a more personal feeling relationship with media conglomerates.

The idea of calling, say, NBC to ask a question about the game I am watching seems totally bizarre. But, apparently, people used to do that.

That was a major guess I knew it couldn't be the 50's and I figured it had to be close to but before color TV really hit big. I checked my answer right after my guess and was proud to be that close.
