When the Big Ten expanded to Colorado, adding private institution Beckwithurst University and Colorado College, the latter was considered just an add-on, giving the league a travel partner and also because of their world-class hockey program to join the Big Ten hockey league.

The year is 2010 and the Colorado College men's basketball team has never made the NCAA tournament.

Rather than getting ourselves concerned with the muck, we're just gonna ride the March Madness wave in this dynasty. I'll just do season-recaps and the only game-by-game I'll do is for post-seasons. You don't care about our regular season, you just wanna know about march madness and that's all I care about too.

We'll probably go 20 years or so and see if something magjikal happens.

Since the real goal here is using this as an NCAA tournament dynasty, I'm gonna use Starting Ten as a model for what we do every NCAA. In addition to tracking Colorado College in the tournament -- provided they can ever make it -- I'll do my own roster of players each season. But since there is no one else to compete with, rather than using the points my players generate to win or lose, we'll use the points to generate a dollar amount each season based on my performance.

Each point being worth $1668, and we'll compare each year. Since I won't be doing any of the recruiting or spending time with the different teams, it'll be a good way for me to benchmark against my random abilities to pick talent out or whatever.

Ideally, we'll have guys from Colorado College in the mix too.

NCAA TOURNAMENT: In his first year with the program, Dante Waters leads the Tigers to their first EVER NCAA tournament appearance. They enter as a six-seed in the South region. Their first match is against North Carolina A&T (27-5) who won the MEAC conference title.

STARTING TEN ROSTER
As I mentioned, each season will play Starting Ten as a way to get immersed around the league to see the best players/teams in college basketball. I've modified the rules in my game, because I'll play to accumulate a cash portfolio based on the points my players generate in the tournament.

I'll select ten players, plus an 11th "bench" player who will be automatically inserted to my roster once my team falls below 10 players -- unless said player is eliminated before he can come off the bench -- it'll make later rounds more interesting.

I decided that I can't take any Colorado College guys in this game, because they'd be the ones I'd be mostly connected to and I know their names. I don't know players from other schools at all, because I haven't paid any attention to the rest of this universe. Alas, no local guys can be picked.

There will be upsets like crazy and I don't know any of these programs in this league, so it should make it fun to see if I can outperform myself year after year.

This league is higher scoring than real life, so we'll see higher point values and totals as a result. In my first season, I advanced a 4 seed to the title game, a 3 seed to the Elite 8, two players to the Sweet 16 and the rest lost in the 1st two rounds for a total of 4863 points or a portfolio value of $8,111,484.

We'll be able to see how I do in the future to determine how good this is relative.

I didn't anticipate that Colorado College would be so good in their first year of the dynasty, but we'll picture Dante Waters as a Brad Stevens-like figure who has transformed the program with his engaging personality or more like Keno Davis in his only year at Drake where they had a high seed before losing in the NCAAs.

I have to decide whether after their crazy season that resulted in a title whether Waters will parlay his success to a much better job and leave them to replace him with someone else or if he'll stay and try to build on it.

Meanwhile, I'm just angling to get back to the tournament to see if we can do better with the numbers of picking players than we did last year.

I simmed two years ahead, so now we're in 2013. Beckwithurst and Colorado College are leaving the B1G, after dropping football at both schools and a desire to play with programs closer to their size.

Beckwithurst is being relocated to Kentucky, because I feel like it. They're now going to play in the Southern Conference.

Gonna break up the Big 12, because I can next season. Going to create the Pac-16, move two teams ot the SEC somehow and probably shuffle the ACC to boot. I didn't sim 2013, so now I'm going to pick my Starting Ten team for March Madness again and see if I can do better than I did in 2010.

Decided to just play Starting Five, because inserting ten players (well 11) was tedious. I then nuked the last six guys from my last season and readjusted my portfolio to $4,652,052 (2789 pts) by using only Butler, Vermillion, Rizzo, Grant, & Carl.

Now we're in 2013, I don't really know anyone in this league and we're gonna see if we can't make a bit of magic happen.

Thanks to South Carolina's Final Four run and Murray Ladner's performance, I managed to narrow beat out my score from 2010 by scoring 2834 ($4,727,112) in the 2013 tournament.

I think what we'll do, is every $10 million I earn, we'll "donate" to a program of our choice in the hopes of upgrading their program/facilities to get them into the big time. Then we'll follow that program and see if the cash infusion (aka, increase in prestige and hiring them a big-time coach or star assistant) has improved them at all.

I think what we'll do, is every $10 million I earn, we'll "donate" to a program of our choice in the hopes of upgrading their program/facilities to get them into the big time. Then we'll follow that program and see if the cash infusion (aka, increase in prestige and hiring them a big-time coach or star assistant) has improved them at all.
