I think there is the potential for much confusion here if a new-to-FOF gamer wanders in and tried to make sense of this material... since the sizable bulk of it was written about the FOF 2001 game, as opposed to the game that came out after that, or the game that's about to come out shortly. Seems like a note to that effect would be in order... I'd hate to have a stream of new FOF fans get disenchanted when they couldn't make heads or tails out of half of the things being said by the various people in thses threads, just because they didn't realize that the discussion was about a three-generations-old game.

Hope that helps.

I agree - working on said updates (though there's a small technical snafu for now).

If anyone has any other suggestions like Quik did, feel free to post them. What I put up was just the old journal, with FOF2004 links, and a lot of editing to make it look nicer than a copy-paste.

I'd love to make this as clear and useful as possible.

And we have gotten a significant number of new FOFCers in the last few days.

Question:

Is this something only admins can see, or can everyone see "Dead Link" in red next to a significant number of the links in the FOF Journal.

I can't think of a way to give an answer to that question while equating the answer to a line from some crappy movie, so I'll just say yes, it appears he lost it.

I kept the dead links for now in case I figure out a way to do something with those threads (summarizing them, probably). I'l take care of them in not too long though...

As Quik stated, all the info is just kind of there.

We should either break everything up by version, or at least note before or after each link what version of the game the information applies to.

How about just removing the dead links, instead of labeling them as dead ?

I think the best solution would be to go through the threads and rewrite them (and then post the summery of the thread). That way people reading it will only have to read the relavent information. And then set up a FAQ section like the one on OOTP where we can keep all of the rewritten threads and use the Journal that's stickied as a Table of Contents for that forum...

But that might be too much work...

That sounds like a good idea... I should have a good amount of free time next weekend.

(And hopefully there will be lots of new FOF4 threads to add in the mix)
