I can totally live with that.

Not sure you could find a squad I'd not root for over this particular collection.

I guess making that penalty kick is something else that Neville won't allow from his organization.

No, they're lefties. Which to some is worse than being a terrorist.

There’s nothing more English than having a player who has missed two already in the tournament step up in a critical penalty kick situation and spectacularly fail.

In all honesty I feel sorry for her because obviously she had no confidence whatsoever and was trying to keep it on target, but yeeesh.

That was, honestly, rather English. Or maybe better said as "a rather English situation to have had happen"

Why? Because I find the USWNT to be perhaps the single most unbearably obnoxious inexcusably ill bred collection of athletes ever assembled and I'm literally embarrassed to have such sorry excuses for human beings like them represent the nation?

The sooner they lose the sooner they go back to the complete irrelevance they so richly deserve, so I'm ALL about them losing.

Bunch of fucking women who don't know their place and think they're allowed a voice in the world. Pretty much right in Jon's wheelhouse of excitement.

Video review seems like it's worse than the actual calls on the field. Glad we don't have that in youth soccer.. LOL!!!

England had their chance with the PK though. I agree with the call definitely DOGSO.

That being said, GO USA!!!

The weird part about this whole previous exchange for me - having met all three of you (Jon, EF, and PilotMan) in person and greatly enjoyed our interactions - is that I think there's space for everyone to get along and have a grand time by dispensing politics from the conversation.

That would have been funny! Nikita Parris missed the first two though.

Still, Steph Houghton can join Stuart Pearce, Chris Waddle, Gareth Southgate and David Batty as missing crucial penalties in big tournaments

Really? I know that you're conservative, but take a breath and let this moment transcend our Red State--Blue State bullshit. These are amazing women who are kicking ass on behalf of America. Just enjoy the ride. It's one of the very few unalloyed good things we've all had to share in the last few years.

Hope Solo's commentary during this World Cup has been...whew.

She’s been on the BBC after the England matches I’ve seen - seems OK as a pundit, but never heard her commentary

There’s been two incidents highlighted here, both of which are further signs of today’s snowflake generation.

The tea-cup celebration was good, I thought it was quality! Not offensive in any way shape or form.

And one of the players celebrating with a teammate when she saw her in the tunnel while Steph Houghton was being interviewed? They’d just won a World Cup semi-final FFS! Of course they’re going to celebrate! She just roared to her teammate, no words, it was behind Houghton, not in her face, it was nothing.

Today’s citizens get offended for no reason, and these are two more examples.

There was a legitimate gathering in the break room at work.

I just watched it in my office on my 2nd monitor like a normal person, while TOTALLY monitoring my e-mail.

I forget who made the comment, maybe you or someone else here, for all I can remember, but the irony regarding people who worship our flag and call themselves patriots but are actively rooting against our national team is really hilarious to me.

Trying to decide if she's trying to be as controversial as she possibly can to attempt to stay relevant or if she's genuinely batshit crazy, the answer is probably a bit of both.

Also, the celebration "controversy" seems to be a deliberate attempt by the media to get people to be triggered rather than any widespread outrage as far as I can see. When I saw it I thought it was still a response to the controversy after the celebrating in the Thailand game, a 4th July/Boston Tea Party angle didn't enter my head for one second.

Yup, being able to stream this on Sling in perfect HD on my primary monitor while working on my laptop is an absolute game changer.

Super-patriots are like Cardinals fans... you only get credit from them if you are being patriotic the RIGHT way.

I found it amusing that the little black girl standing next to Repino had her hand over her heart and was singing our national anthem.

One of my FB friends got tickets to the final, and because of a ticketing snafu, they're literally in the front row (in the corner, but still)[

Words can't explain how jealous I am at the pictures they posted showing the field etcetera

The world is catching up but the USWNT made through once again. I enjoyed this tournament immensely. The overall quality of the teams is better than I expected.

The fact that they're going to make the next wwc likely 32 teams, and increase prize money is a good first step.
