Defensive Gameplanning
Hi all! I'm new to this game. I played a little FOF7, then saw that there was going to be a new game come out with OOTP crew, so I didn't bother to get FOF8. Now that the game has fallen through, I've FINALLY decided to get FOF8.
I was wondering if anyone knows why we can't create defensive plays, but we can create offensive plays? I mean, I can create a 5 WR, Hail Mary or 5 slant routes, but I can't create a 3-4 WLB and WILB blitz or a triple cover the TE play. Also, any advice on how many plays I should have in my playbook and what run to pass ratio? I am at 173 plays now (63 run and 110 pass), and I look at it and think that's far too many plays It's just so much fun creating plays that I can't stop! |

You can only use 60-69 plays each week depending on your OC. More choices each week make it better so it ia good in my view to keep arond 85 of each, and then maybe add a couple each game to take advantage if you see a weakness in scouting.
I, too wish we could make D plays, but you can do pretty well with the ones they have...just bend them toward your players...ie if you have good Bump corners use Press Ds more....good blitzing LBs use them more in the blitz etc |

I make playbooks with 100 plays for offense, reason being it is easy to visualize what percentage of the targets different players will get.
Run to pass ratio depends on if you are a run heavy or pass heavy team. Something like 45/55 or 40/60 or 35/65 seems right to me. It's true you can't triple cover the TE, but if you're facing a team with a great TE, I suspect that the Tampa 2 is a good defense to use (drops a LB into coverage), and don't double cover the WRs. |
