I'd never read the poem before, just knew the two lines:

Ozymandias

I met a traveler from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal these words appear:
“My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!”
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

I sure called that one...

Yeah, if Walt could pull off the temporary Holly-kidnapping and selling the solo killer story to Skyler all for the benefit of the police and removing all suspicion from Skyler, that's impressive. So is hanging in there for a five-minute phone call while standing outside a city fire station, knowing the call was being traced. But he did remove the battery right afterward, so maybe he knows just how long he had.

I have to stick with Walt still trying to get the money to his kids somehow. He has time now, with Saul's guy's help. He's got the money, presumably laundered. He told Skyler he wasn't finished. Was that a double meaning - one the threat for the benefit of the police, and one to let her know to trust him?

What's Jesse's story? Seems like he's cooked. I'll take one more stab at the ricin, and say Walt finds out he's back in the lab and uses it to take out Jack and Todd. He trashes his home and paints Heisenberg on the walls himself to get his family out.

As for the 'rescue' theory, I'm thinking that the money is a more likely hostage needing rescue than Jessie. Jessie betrayed Walt.

I'm thinking Walt isn't going to tolerate someone just taking his money.

Watching Ozymandias a second time might be even more of a killer. Just in the intro flashback, there's Walt having to practice his lies, the shot of the kitchen knives when Skyler's on the phone, and Walt telling Jesse, "the reaction has begun."

I haven't read this entire thread, and I did not watch seasons 3 and 4 (too impatient and wanted to see the end!), but I still think there's some significance to the names:

Saul
Flynn

Saul is just too obvious of a Biblical allusion though...bad guy gone good. I mean hell, his last name is Goodman. Does he end up dying the only "good guy" in the end, hence the spin-off prequel show?

No theory on Flynn, but I just remember it being such a weird and big deal for no apparent reason...unless it was meant to just make the family dynamic that more awkward.

Apparently the Series Ultimate Blu-ray boxed set will be packaged in a "barrel", and include a "Los Pollos Hermanos" apron.

I think Walt kills the nazis, saves Jesse and takes the ricin himself to end it quickly. He stops taking chemo so that's why his hair comes back, he knows he's going to die from cancer so he saves Jesse and goes out on his terms.

It wouldn't be quick, but it would allow him to turn himself in, be arrested, and then die, which would maybe tie into a redemption-type ending if he also decided to save Jesse. A two-day ricin death can't be any worse than a longer cancer death. It certainly doesn't look like he'd be up for saving Jesse at the moment, but shit can change a lot in an hour or two of Breaking Bad. And we were just beat over the head SO hard in the other direction last episode (Walt orders Jesse killed and tells him he watched Jane die in the span of about 90 seconds), which maybe was setting up a dramatic redemption, or starting the momentum towards a descent into even deeper evil, whatever that would be.

After the last episode I just have a really hard time seeing Walt saving Jesse. Maybe he does, maybe he finds out Jesse is alive and develops a conscience about it... but he very clearly blames Jesse for Hank being dead, and by extension wouldn't he blame Jesse for losing his family?

A lot of time passes before Walt comes back in the flashforwards, so it could still happen, but its a leap I'm having a hard time seeing.

I just think we're going to see more Walt/Jesse and the series won't just be wrapped up with Walt taking on the Nazis. I could also see Jesse escaping, Walt finding out that he's still alive (maybe through Saul), and then Walt going to hunt Jesse. That'd be a downer of an ending, Walt killing Jesse and then killing himself before he can be brought to justice.

I can't see Walt killing himself in any situation. Especially after hitting bottom with Hank dying. Going after the money and taking pity on Jesse after seeing him a few months down the road in that dungeon? Maybe.

Predictions

I expect Walt's going to have some real bad dreams in his new life.

Walt's family is going to be broke-ass broke real soon.

Walt's family appearing on PSA's referring to him as a monster and such...that would go over well.

Jessie will use a trick of chemistry to kill Todd and escape. After Walt told him about watching Jane die, Jessie will desperately want to hurt Walt. These two are headed for a showdown.

Walt has been off chemo for months presumably because the feds would track him down if he sought treatment under his new identity.

Can't decide if Lydia could be a factor or if she is the show's biggest red herring.

I think she'll likely be involved as she's still doing business with the Nazis, I don't suspect she'll be a target of Walt though. Everything about Walt is out there so it's not like she's a loose end that would need to be tied up and unless she harms Walt's family in some way after he leaves town I can't really think of anything that she's done that would warrant Walt's wrath being directed at her.

Yeah, but Mike so so ready to kill her because he considered her such a threat. You're probably right.

One more for the enemy list: Ted Beneke banged his wife and got half a million dollars of his money. Maybe Walt drops by to take care of some unfinished business there.

As I was thinking about this today. What else could Walt be rescuing.

I've mentioned his money. Others have thrown out Walt taking pity on Jessie after seeing him held captive.

What if Skyler is prosecuted and paying for his "empire"? Walt isn't gonna break her out of jail or prison, but could he plan to rescue her during a transfer? Maybe to or from the courthouse?

Again so many places for this to go, and things to wrap up.

I don't even know what we do with spoilers here anymore. spoilers for a day or something? Whatever, its just clicking a button.

I was forced to feel way too many things for this to be called a filler episode. It did start to play out like a "moving pieces" episode...

Charlie Rose knows what he's doing.

So is the ricin for Elliott/Gretchen, or was the interview purely for motivating Walt? We should have known he wasn't necessarily returning to save someone specific, but instead to save his pride.

How about Walt Jr. takes on his father's alter ego and becomes a junior Heisenberg?

They could even call the new show Shaking Bad.

That was funny. I admit it.

The Finale better be at least 2 hours long.

I really considered taking the end of the week off and watching the marathon.

Im really lost as how this will play out. But I think Walt just accepted that Walt is dead and Heisenberg is going to do some serious damage.

I respect the fact that the writers are letting this play out as bleakly as it should but goddamn it makes these past few episodes just wrenching to watch.

So I am unfamiliar with the X-files and don't know the type of writer Vince Gilligan is but I hope this doesn't go the way of the Sopranos or Lost with some goofy ending. I put a lot of time into this show I want it ended with nothing ambigous "left to the viewer". Spoon feed it me! :-)

I tend to agree. And I was actually hoping for the final resolution of several character's stories to be dealt with this past Sunday, which basically didn't happen.

Oh, I don't know if it's even been mentioned much, but great casting IMO of Academy Award nominee Robert Forster. That says something, I think, about the caliber of the work being done on the show when you've got a guy who has some legit credentials doing a relatively minor part and it doesn't seem all that notable to most people.

Vince said earlier on talking bad that he felt the audience overall would be satisfied with the end result. Led me to believe he was going to show a finish rather than leave us guessing.
