2007 FOFC-NFL Mock Draft!

Rules

1. Trades WILL be allowed. Players CAN be traded as long as it makes enough sense. We hear Randy Moss for a draft pick is viable so that is something allowable. If a trade looks crazy we will disallow it.

2. We'll try and do as many rounds as possible until draft day if everyone is interested.

3. Post your pick (bold it) in this thread and this is most important, PM the person picking after you to let them know they're on the clock. The owner list is located here: http://www.operationsports.com/fofc/...ad.php?t=58022

4. I won't enforce a strict time limit right away for picks but try and get the picks in a decent time. If it seems like the person picking has gone AWOL I'll pick for them using a combination of mock drafts to make a consensus pick.

5. Have fun!

Note - If you are hearing offers for a certain pick then post it here.

If allowed ...

Atlanta would like to trade Michael Vick and 2007 1st Round (8th overall) for Detroit 2007 1st Round (2nd overall).

No offense to Edward, but this trade is why I think trading players is such a bad idea.

Obviously this is derailing the intent of the thread. Don't know why its unrealistic but will withdraw if it will get us going.

You don't know why it's not a good idea to swap your starting QB for a gain of 6 first round picks?

While I would prefer for the Browns to trade down rather than pick at #3 I will make the following selection.

With the 3rd pick in the 2007 FOFC NFL Mock Draft the Cleveland Browns select LT Joe Thomas

I thought about taking Peterson or Quinn but neither one of them will be able to do anything with a bad line protecting them.

I like that pick but I'd be very surprised if they pass on Quinn or Peterson.

They'd be smart to take Thomas though.

I get the feeling that in real life, it'd be more likely that Detroit takes Thomas and the Browns jump for joy when they get Russell.

6 years, avg rating 75.7, 2 head coaches, breakdown and loss of leadership the past 2 years, Ron Mexico, Airport water bottle incident ... Joey Harrington, Joe Horn and Petrino. What does this tell you?

Time to move on ... ala JaMarcus Russell.

So $30 million in guaranteed bonuses on the cap with Vick, and another $30 million in guarantees for Russell?

Yeah, no chance.

Don't think it was considered huh? The below seem to imply some deal could have been worked out.

The reported deal would send Oakland receivers Randy Moss and Jerry Porter plus the number one overall draft pick in the upcoming 2007 NFL Draft to the Falcons in exchange for Vick and the Falcons first round pick, which is number 10 overall in this year's draft.

There is no way that trade is/was even close to happening. With Schaub gone, Vick is the man for at least this season. They aren't going to bring in some rookie QB. Petrino has uncategorically said he will be the man for his offense.

On the Joe Thomas front...my opinion is that he is a can't miss player. Quinn, Russell, Peterson, etc. all have questions about them. Thomas, to me, is a lock.

I have been cautious of Schaub and his abilities. I remember being a Doug Johnson fan as a backup thinking he would be an able replacement. He had a chance in 2003 to replace injured Vick but did not do well (think Doug is in Cin now). Schaub is still unproven and think the Atl-Texan trade was good for Atlanta. Joey Harrington may well do just as well as Schaub.

I do not disagree with your statement, but my point was to show, although a trade may not occur, it was not without consideration.

* * * *

About Joe Thomas, I remember the same was said about Robert Gallery (paying attention because AR Shawn Andrews came out the same year for Philadelphia). Don't think there is ever a lock.

Edward, that had no chance of happening. Atlanta could not afford Vick's cap hit, Moss, Porter and the #1 pick. I'm quite familiar with the Raiders salary cap situation and the hits and gains taken from trading players. I know Moss frees up about 6 million in cap room, while trading Jerry Porter for example causes a 3.3m cap hit.

If you guys want to disallow players being involved that's fine, though I would still prefer to deal Moss for picks. If not, that's cool, I'll line up Moss, Johnson and Porter

Guess Brady Quinn will have nightmares about a scenario like this. Guess he will now likely drop to #7 but no longer then #9.

Sorry..haven't been around a computer in the past couple days...but with the 4th pick in the 2007 FOFC Mock Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select

Dt-Amobi Okoye-Louisville

Adrian Peterson isn't needed as Cadillac Williams is already lined up at halfback. Gaines Adams' talent is immense, but Tampa really has a hole in the interior line. Okoye's youth, combined with his talent makes him the pick.

I like Okoye's upside much more than Branch's at this point. So, if TBY needs an interior lineman, that is a solid pick. However, if this scenario does happen, I see a potential trade-up to get Quinn or Peterson (likely the Vikings or Dolphins) and the Bucs slide down a few spots to still pick up Okoye.

I think Gruden would stain his pants picking Adams actually.
Not that I am biased or anything, but he was the only head coach to interview Adams at the combine. And then the only head coach to come to Clemsons pro day.

Most people expect him to be off the board by the 6th pick and the 10th at the latest.

Who interview's who is usually a pretty large smoke-screen to a team's true intentions on draft day.

For example, take Jay Cutler. The Bronco's never met with Jay Cutler, Mike Shanahan never talked about Cutler to the press, they never talked with him at the combine, etc. etc. However, low and behold, the Bronco's traded up to get him. Another example would be TE Vernon Davis from last year. He only had minimal contact with the 49er's and was actually told by the Jet's that he would be their first round pick.

It is more important to see what a general manager is not saying between now and the draft than what he actually is saying.

What was it out of curiousity?

I would have hoped to get someone to take the fourth round pick, but that probably wouldn't be enough. Realistically I'd likely have to offer the second and get a late round pick in return. Not having a third round pick makes a 5-10 pick advance in round one difficult.

I'll see how thins play out, but I'm likely looking to trade down now. To try and be realistic for this year's Bengals I'm going to maintain a strict character check for all picks. I'm afraid that the defensive players left will be guys like Moss and Meriweather and I won't pick them even though they play need positions.

I think they might have an outside chance at getting Branch as I think he's going to slide. After that, I think it's Reggie Nelson or Pozulnozzy (sp.) but they might be able to slide down a bit and still get one of those guys.

I like Poz, but with Brooks starting at MLB I feel like that would be in effect two rookie starters at LB. Nelson is on my radar and if Branch falls I'll try to get him. I'd be really surprised though if he lasts into the double digits.

It's going to be raining like hell all over the Northeast tomorrow I believe. Let's get a lot of this done.

DeTox: Any chance of adding owners to the draft list? I'd like to know who we're waiting on.
