CL Announces Outstanding Batter Award
Tuesday, May 1st, 2091: Seasoned by several years of professional experience, 27-year-old Tokaji Sekine put together a solid offensive month for Plantana and was crowned April's top batter in the Continental League.

He batted .356 with 6 home runs, 15 RBIs and 25 runs scored.


RL Announces Best Batter Award
Tuesday, May 1st, 2091: Juan López battered Republic League pitchers all April and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around FOOL-X long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 30-year-old López told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 26 games, López hit .376 with 7 home runs, 15 RBIs and scored 32 runs.

CL Selects McGinnis April's Best Starter
Tuesday, May 1st, 2091: Ed McGinnis hasn't been around the big leagues long enough to know that youngsters shouldn't be winning Continental League Pitcher of the Month. But when you put up numbers like his, you're going to get some notice.

In April the Plantana starter earned a 4-0 mark in 5 starts. He threw 35.2 innings, struck out 24 and compiled a solid 1.51 ERA.


Wolverines Rivera Named RL's Best Pitcher
Tuesday, May 1st, 2091: Vicente Rivera nailed down April's Republic League Pitcher of the Month award today, adding pressure on Ann Arbor to get a deal done before the 28-year-old becomes a free agent.

Rivera seems unfazed by the talk. "We get a deal done or we don't," he told reporters, "I'm not worrying about next year. Worrying about next year isn't what wins awards, you know?"

He fashioned a 5-1 record, reeled off 37 strikeouts, worked 45.1 innings and held batters to a .246 average for the month as he posted a 3.38 ERA.

CL Choice for Rookie of the Month Announced
Tuesday, May 1st, 2091: Few players his age have the consistency to put a solid month together, but Plantana's Ed McGinnis carved up the opposition all April long and hauled off the Continental League Rookie of the Month award today as a result.

He sizzled last month with a 4-0 mark, fanning 24 in 35.2 innings with an ERA of 1.51 in 5 starts.


RL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
Tuesday, May 1st, 2091: Millard Clark was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 25-year-old center fielder definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen April's Republic League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 23 games Clark batted .333 for Ann Arbor, slapping 24 hits in 72 at-bats with 3 home runs, drove in 17 runs and scored 13 times.

Carl Desbiens is May's #1 Hitter in CL
Friday, June 1st, 2091: On the heels of a very productive May, Carl Desbiens received Continental League Batter of the Month recognition today.

The battle-tested left fielder hit .442 for the Manchester Terriers and racked up 7 home runs, 25 RBIs and 24 runs scored.

This year Desbiens has 13 home runs and a .375 batting average.


RL's Premier Batter Picked
Friday, June 1st, 2091: Jonathon Dwyer put together a good May to earn the Republic League Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Ann Arbor officials that he belongs on the big league roster.

The Wolverines center fielder posted a .330 batting average with 8 home runs, 22 RBIs and 22 runs scored.

Dwyer is currently batting .297 with 14 home runs, 35 RBIs and 36 runs scored. He has 62 hits in 209 at-bats.

Limón Voted Best CL Pitcher in May
Friday, June 1st, 2091: Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Ricardo Limón still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in May. The 30-year-old starter for St Louis was named Continental League Pitcher of the Month earlier today.

He collected 5 wins and no losses with 26 strikeouts in his 6 starts, putting up a fine 1.30 ERA in 34.2 innings of work.

In 11 starts this season Limón has notched a 8-1 record and a 2.25 ERA.


RL Pick for Top Pitcher in May is Delgado
Friday, June 1st, 2091: The Republic League made it official today -- Bartolo Delgado of the New York Legends is the Pitcher of the Month. In May he impressed the sportswriters with his domination of league hitters.

Delgado made 7 starts, registered 4 wins and no losses with a solid 2.09 ERA. In 43 innings he allowed 33 hits, racked up 43 strikeouts, walked 6 and permitted teams to hit .205 against him.

This season Delgado has compiled a 7-2 mark with a 2.84 ERA.

May's Spotlight Falls on Rookie Star
Friday, June 1st, 2091: Fernando García will be on his way to great things, if he keeps up May's production. The 28-year-old first-year player for London put up excellent numbers last month to claim the Continental League Rookie of the Month Award.

Last month the right fielder posted up a solid .320 average, 2 home runs, 17 RBIs, 32 hits, 15 walks, .410 OBP and scored 13 runs.

This year García is hitting .240 with 5 home runs.


Republic League Names Rookie of Month
Friday, June 1st, 2091: Millard Clark's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Ann Arbor center fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In May he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award.

During the month he hit .291 with 5 doubles, 2 triples and no home runs. Clark also scored 10 times and drove in 12 runs.

On the year Clark is hitting .309 with 54 hits, 3 home runs, 29 RBIs, .399 OBP and has scored 23 runs.

Manchester's Desbiens Acclaimed Best CL Hitter
Sunday, July 1st, 2091: Though his face is weathered and his hands are calloused, Carl Desbiens can still get it done in FOOL-X. In fact, the 34-year-old left fielder for Manchester was named the Continental League Batter of the Month today after putting up an impressive performance at the plate.

In June he batted .365 with 6 home runs, 24 RBIs and 22 runs scored.

Desbiens on the season is batting .372 with 19 home runs. His totals include 72 RBIs and 63 runs scored. He has played in 80 games.


June's #1 Batter Announced
Sunday, July 1st, 2091: José Guilléin was declared the Republic League Batter of the Month today. Cleveland's catcher stroked 37 hits in 98 at-bats for a .378 average in June.

He also hit 10 home runs, drove in 31 and scored 24 runs.

This year Guilléin is hitting .297, produced 61 RBIs and 20 home runs, scored 54 times and gotten on base at a .382 rate.

Pederson Earns CL Top Pitcher Trophy
Sunday, July 1st, 2091: Whether Eric Pederson stays in St Louis beyond this season remains to be seen, but while he's here he's making the most of it. In June the 35-year-old certainly pulled out all the stops by winning the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

He put up some fancy numbers with a 5-1 record and and an ERA of 3.02. In 44.2 innings he struck out 34, surrendered 38 hits, 6 walks and proved to be a solid performer in 6 starts last month.

Pederson has started 17 times this year, pitched 113 innings, fanned 93 batters and walked 27. His current record is 11 wins and 4 losses with a 3.42 ERA.


Cho Top RL Starter in June
Sunday, July 1st, 2091: As Won-shik Cho hoisted up the Republic League Pitcher of the Month trophy for June, rumors have already begun to swirl about whether he will leave New York once his contract is up at the end of the season.

Cho put pressure on the Legends to keep him around by posting a 4-0 record and an ERA of 1.88 over 43 innings last month. He also rolled up 33 strikeouts, increasing his value both to New York and to every other team in the league.

On the season Cho has a 6-6 record with a 3.79 ERA.

June's Premier Rookie Named by CL
Sunday, July 1st, 2091: Youngster Alberto Navarro emerged as the latest Continental League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Washington deserved the honor, batting .282 with 2 home runs and 14 RBI. Is the month of June a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Navarro enjoy the limelight.

Currently Navarro has 4 home runs and a .280 batting average.


Clark Snags Rookie of Month Trophy
Sunday, July 1st, 2091: Millard Clark earned June's Rookie of the Month honors in the Republic League for last month's performance. The boyish Ann Arbor center fielder might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Clark hit .269 with 4 home runs, 9 RBIs and 14 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

Clark is presently hitting at a .294 pace with 7 home runs and 38 RBIs. He has played in 78 games and scored 37 times.

FOOLX News: The All-Star Game Rosters Have Been Announced

Desbiens Wins CL's Best Bat Award
Wednesday, August 1st, 2091: Carl Desbiens earned July's Batter of the Month honors in the Continental League by reeling off a .323 average, going 32 for 99 with 6 home runs, 13 RBIs and 20 runs scored.

The soon-to-be free agent was hitting with great urgency in an effort to bolster his asking price in the Manchester clubhouse and around the rest of the league.

For the year Desbiens is batting .360 with 25 home runs, 85 RBIs and 83 runs scored.


Red-Hot July Lands Hernández Batting Prize in RL
Wednesday, August 1st, 2091: It was a successful month for Raúl Hernández of New York. He won the Republic League Best Batter Trophy for July.

Hernández batted .375 average, hit 3 home runs, drove in 16 runs, scored 21 times and compiled a .419 on-base percentage.

Thus far this year Hernández has hit .288 with 8 home runs and 44 RBIs.

Hops Hurler Named CL's Best Starter
Wednesday, August 1st, 2091: Sang-hyuk Yi's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 4-0 in July, the 31-year-old St Louis hurler has been named Continental League Pitcher of the Month.

He fanned 34 in 30.2 innings, logged an ERA of 1.47 and allowed opponents to hit .233 against him.

This year Yi has compiled a 12-3 record with a 3.51 ERA.


Republic League Announces July's Top Pitcher
Wednesday, August 1st, 2091: The New York Legends felt very secure when they sent Bartolo Delgado out to the hill last month. The 25-year-old starter went after Republic League hitters with a vengeance and earned July's Pitcher of the Month award.

He went 5-0 with a 1.60 ERA as he struck out 48 in 39.1 innings over 6 starts.

Delgado has fashioned a 16-3 mark for the season, 2.42 ERA and thrown 167.2 innings in 26 starts. Opposing clubs are batting .223 against him.

Washington First Baseman Best Rookie
Wednesday, August 1st, 2091: For the last thirty days he outperformed all the other newcomers in the Continental League. So it was no surprise that Washington's first baseman Ricardo Rivas took the Rookie of the Month honors today.

In July he hit .356 as he ran up some impressive offensive numbers. In 20 games he collected 26 hits, 5 home runs, 14 RBIs and 11 runs scored.

Rivas is currently hitting at a .285 pace with 11 home runs, 40 RBIs and has scored 47 times.


July Sensation RL's Best Rookie
Wednesday, August 1st, 2091: A veritable toddler to the Republic League, Millard Clark just sewed up the Rookie of the Month trophy for July.

Over the past month the 25-year-old center fielder for Ann Arbor hit .333 with 31 hits, 2 home runs and 12 RBI. He also logged 9 walks and compiled a .385 on-base percentage.

In 104 games this year Clark has posted a .304 average and put up these numbers: 9 home runs, 50 RBIs and 46 runs scored.

Sekine Takes Home CL Top Batter Award
Saturday, September 1st, 2091: A hot-hitting Tokaji Sekine punished CL pitchers in August, hitting .418 in 28 games while racking up 7 home runs, 20 RBIs and 19 runs scored.

With those numbers it came as no surprise that Plantana's 27-year-old right fielder earned Continental League Batter of the Month honors.

This year Sekine is hitting .342 with 26 home runs and 67 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .415 clip and scored 92 runs.


Cleveland Center Fielder RL's Best Batter in August
Saturday, September 1st, 2091: António Mercado received the Republic League Batter of the Month trophy earlier today for his efforts at the plate this last month.

"He might be getting older," Cleveland's manager told reporters, "But he's been around long enough to know what it takes to put a stretch such as this together... and he doesn't keep that to himself. He's always talking to the younger guys in the clubhouse helping 'em any way they'll let him. António's value to our team goes farther than the numbers he puts up on the field."

To win the honor Mercado put up a .367 batting average, 5 home runs, 13 RBIs and scored 22 times in August.

This season Mercado has delivered 169 hits in 544 at-bats for a .311 average with 19 home runs. He is getting on base at a .397 clip and his totals also include 69 RBIs and 104 runs scored. This year Mercado has played in 135 games.

Manchester Starter Named CL's Premier Pitcher
Saturday, September 1st, 2091: Roberto Sánchez hasn't been around the big leagues long enough to know that youngsters shouldn't be winning Continental League Pitcher of the Month. But when you put up numbers like his, you're going to get some notice.

In August the Manchester starter earned a 5-0 mark in 8 starts. He threw 49.1 innings, struck out 26 and compiled a solid 2.55 ERA.

This season Sánchez has compiled a 7-14 record with a 4.30 ERA in 34 starts.


Rigney Tabbed as August's Starter of the Month
Saturday, September 1st, 2091: It was a very good month for Garry Rigney in August. The 36-year-old veteran starter for the Portland Axemen outpitched everybody -- young and old -- to claim the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award earlier today.

Rigney ran up a 4-2 record in his 6 starts during the month. In 39.2 innings he fanned 18 and recorded a 2.27 ERA.

This season Rigney has a 10-12 mark in 27 starts with a 4.24 ERA. He has given up 188 hits in 172 innings, struck out 89 and issued 39 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .274 batting average against him.

Premier Rookie Named by CL
Saturday, September 1st, 2091: Larry Stabb let his numbers do the talking in August. The St Louis Hops second baseman logged a .338 average as he laid claim to the Continental League Rookie of the Month Award.

He tallied 25 hits, 2 home runs, drove in 6 runs and scored 11 runs during his remarkable stretch.

This year Stabb is batting .302 with 6 home runs and 36 RBIs.

Saturday, September 1st, 2091: Millard Clark is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Republic League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In August the Ann Arbor hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .267 average with 27 hits, 1 home run and 7 RBIs.

Looking at his stats this year, Clark has compiled a .296 batting average, while hitting 10 home runs and driving in 57 runs. He has played in 131 games and scored 53 runs.

Yes, that is a tough way for your season to go, and your team has been so good recently. You were done in the last month and change by a 13-15 record while my Hibbies went 23-9. Up to that point, frankly, you were the better team, by record (close) and by Pyth record (not close).
