Tanaka Takes Home CL Top Batter Award
Sunday, May 1st, 2095: Not known for his offensive prowess, Kenkichi Tanaka set the league afire in April and took home the Continental League Batter of the Month award.

The Manchester left fielder posted a steady .289 batting average, 12 home runs, 25 RBIs and 23 runs.


April's #1 Batter Announced
Sunday, May 1st, 2095: Seasoned by several years of professional experience, 29-year-old Anthony Langman put together a solid offensive month for Waikiki and was crowned April's top batter in the Republic League.

He batted .384 with 6 home runs, 24 RBIs and 16 runs scored.

Pitcher of the Month Named in CL
Sunday, May 1st, 2095: Emery Cotter's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 5-0 in April, the 28-year-old Washington hurler has been named Continental League Pitcher of the Month.

He fanned 30 in 32.2 innings, logged an ERA of 1.93 and allowed opponents to hit .207 against him.


April's Starter of the Month Goes to Perrier
Sunday, May 1st, 2095: Veteran Bernard Perrier put together quite a successful stretch in April for the Waikiki Beach Boys, earning himself the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award.

Perrier racked up a 4-0 record in 4 starts, posting a 0.60 ERA over 30 innings and striking out 20.

Duncan Celebrates CL Rookie of Month Award
Sunday, May 1st, 2095: Yes, Zachary Duncan is just a rookie. But he is a special rookie. Today the 23-year-old London starter was awarded the Continental League Rookie of the Month trophy for his standout performance in April.

He dominated the rookie class, registering 3 wins and 1 loss in 5 starts with 27 strikeouts in 27.1 innings and a 3.62 ERA.

Not bad for a first-year man.


Ilana Named Newcomer of the Month
Sunday, May 1st, 2095: The premier first-year player in the Republic League last month was Jaime Ilana. Las Vegas's right fielder put up some big-time numbers in April to haul in the Rookie of the Month Award.

Ilana hit at a .276 clip while collecting 4 home runs, 11 RBIs and scoring 12 runs in 18 games.

St Cloud's Major Snags May Batting Title
Wednesday, June 1st, 2095: George Major feasted on Continental League pitching in May and today he walked off with the Batter of the Month award.

The St Cloud left fielder rapped out a .278 batting average while collecting 30 hits, 12 home runs, 29 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

For the season Major is batting .303 with 59 hits and 18 home runs. He has scored 42 times and batted in 44.


RL Batter of the Month Honors to Guilléin
Wednesday, June 1st, 2095: José Guilléin battered Republic League pitchers all May and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around FOOL-X long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 31-year-old Guilléin told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 25 games, Guilléin hit .411 with 9 home runs, 21 RBIs and scored 16 runs.

This season Guilléin is hitting at a .384 pace with 15 home runs, 42 RBIs and has scored 36 times.

CL Starter of the Month Goes to Maldonado
Wednesday, June 1st, 2095: When César Maldonado takes the hill, there's a good chance for a St Cloud victory. At least that's the way it was in May.

He excelled with a 4-0 mark and a 1.47 ERA in 6 starts, tossed 43 innings, fanned 32, and held enemy hitters to a .205 average.

That's why the Raindrops star was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the Continental League.

To date this season Maldonado sports a 7-2 mark with a 2.58 ERA in 11 starting assignments. He has held the opposition to a .222 batting average and has 50 strikeouts in 73.1 innings.


O'Reilly RL Choice for Best Pitcher
Wednesday, June 1st, 2095: It doesn't happen often, but it did in May. A reliever, Max O'Reilly, is the recipient of the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award.

The Beach Boys bullpen ace starred with 13 saves in 16 relief appearances with a 0-0 record, logging 17.2 innings, 25 strikeouts, 3 walks and a 1.02 ERA.

Season-to-date in 29 relief appearances O'Reilly has rung up 21 saves. He has 41 strikeouts and 5 walks in 31 innings while registering a 4.65 ERA and a 0-2 won-lost record. Opposing teams have hit .270 against him.

Rookie Reaps Reward This Month
Wednesday, June 1st, 2095: The most productive Continental League rookie in May was London's right fielder José Chávez.

Last month he played in 26 games and hit .263 with 4 doubles, 1 triple, and 2 home runs. Chávez also scored 14 times and drove in 11 runs.

In 51 games this season Chávez has batted at a .212 pace with 46 hits and 2 home runs.


RL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
Wednesday, June 1st, 2095: Gary Brodeur was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 25-year-old right fielder definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen May's Republic League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 26 games Brodeur batted .322 for Cleveland, slapping 37 hits in 115 at-bats with 1 home run, drove in 10 runs and scored 10 times.

This year Brodeur has hit at a .297 clip with 21 RBIs, 2 home runs and 27 runs scored.

Navarro Wins CL's Best Bat Trophy
Friday, July 1st, 2095: Washington's Alberto Navarro wowed sportswriters in June with an award-winning performance. For his standout play he was voted the Continental League Batter of the Month.

He rang up a .362 batting average with 8 home runs, 26 RBIs and 23 runs scored. He also had 14 walks and a .452 on-base percentage.

Navarro is currently batting .340 with 16 home runs and 53 RBIs.


Super Month Nets Walters #1 Batter Prize in RL
Friday, July 1st, 2095: His solid numbers speak for themselves. That's why Palmer Walters of the New York Legends was named the Republic League's best batter in June.

The New York first baseman starred with a .295 batting average, 16 home runs and 35 RBIs.

Currently Walters is batting .244 with 78 hits and 24 home runs. He has knocked in 66 runs and scored 58 times.

St Louis Starter Wins June's Pitcher Award
Friday, July 1st, 2095: Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Juan Denúñez still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in June. The 32-year-old starter for St Louis was named Continental League Pitcher of the Month earlier today.

He collected 4 wins and no losses with 30 strikeouts in his 5 starts, putting up a fine 1.91 ERA in 33 innings of work.

Denúñez has made 16 starts, tossed 97.2 innings, struck out 85 batters and walked 32. His record is 6-4 with a 3.13 ERA and he has limited other teams to a .222 batting average.


June's Best Hurler in RL is Stone
Friday, July 1st, 2095: The top-rated pitcher this past month in the Republic League was Eric Stone of the Cleveland Naps. He really dominated league hitters, finishing June with a 4-0 won-lost mark and a 0.79 ERA.

The Naps ace made 5 starts and surrendered 25 hits in 34 innings. He struck out 29 and walked 8.

This season Stone has fanned 91 in 113.2 innings and collected a 10-1 record with a 2.30 ERA.

Right Fielder Honored by CL
Friday, July 1st, 2095: The Continental League made the official announcement today. The Rookie of the Month honor went to José Chávez of London. He was singled out as the top-rated rookie for the month of June.

Last month the 27-year-old Bishops right fielder played in 27 games and hit .228 with 1 double, no triples and 2 home runs. Chávez also scored 10 times and drove in 12 runs.

This year Chávez has batted at a .218 pace with 72 hits, 4 home runs, 25 RBIs and scored 31 times.


Republic League Names Rookie of Month
Friday, July 1st, 2095: Youngster Gary Brodeur emerged as the latest Republic League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Cleveland deserved the honor, batting .297 with 1 home run and 7 RBI. Is the month of June a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Brodeur enjoy the limelight.

On the year Brodeur is hitting .297 with 101 hits, 3 home runs, 28 RBIs, .336 OBP and has scored 41 runs.

CL Best Hitter Trophy Goes to Sekine
Monday, August 1st, 2095: On the heels of a very productive July, Tokaji Sekine received Continental League Batter of the Month recognition today.

The battle-tested center fielder hit .367 for the Plantana Pirates and racked up 3 home runs, 20 RBIs and 14 runs scored.

Sekine is batting .320 this year with 21 home runs, 73 RBIs and 65 runs scored. He has 131 hits in 410 at-bats.


RL Announces Outstanding Batter Award
Monday, August 1st, 2095: The Republic League Batter of the Month has been chosen for July and the trophy was presented to Palmer Walters of the New York Legends.

He stood out this month with a .381 batting average, 32 hits and 8 home runs, along with 26 RBIs and 23 runs scored.

Thus far this year Walters is hitting .272 with 32 home runs, 92 RBIs and 81 runs scored.

King Top CL Pitcher in July
Monday, August 1st, 2095: When Alden King takes the hill, he usually takes command of the game -- at least that's the way it was in July. The outcome was usually a Manchester victory. His fine 4-0 performance earned him the Continental League Pitcher of the Month trophy.

The talented Terriers hurler made 6 starts, worked 39.2 innings, permitted 27 base hits, and struck out 24 while putting up a 1.36 ERA.

On the season King has 7 wins and 6 losses and a 3.01 ERA.


Axemen Ayala Chosen July's Best in RL
Monday, August 1st, 2095: Juan Ayala is the latest Republic League Pitcher of the Month award winner. The Portland starter shined on the hill time and again last month and finished July with a sparkling 4-0 record.

Thursday, September 1st, 2095: In August, George Major let his bat do the talking for him. The St Cloud right fielder smacked the ball at a .305 average as he laid claim to the Continental League Batter of the Month award.

Thursday, September 1st, 2095: Davy Wakeley has been around the league long enough to know that relievers are often overlooked. That has never stopped him from doing what he does best -- and he did it extremely well in August and stole away with the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

The Mullets bullpen ace collected 9 saves and 13 strikeouts in 12.1 innings, holding the opposition to a .103 average and posting a 0.00 ERA and a 1-0 record.

This season Wakeley has made 58 relief appearances with 29 saves. In 62.2 innings he has fanned 63 hitters and recorded 4 wins and 3 losses with a 2.15 ERA.

Thursday, September 1st, 2095: There was nobody finer on the mound in August and Tim Johnson cruised to the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award today.

Tokaji Sekine Winner in Continental League
Saturday, October 1st, 2095: To survive in the bigs, you've got to be a scrapper like Tokaji Sekine. It never pays to take a day off from the batting cages or to shrug off the advice of the hitting coach. It all paid off today as Plantana's center fielder pinned down the Continental League Batter of the Month trophy today.

He hit .370 in September collecting 5 home runs, 20 RBIs and 20 runs scored.

This season Sekine is swinging the bat at a .327 pace. He has hit 32 home runs and scored 105 times, while driving in 111. His on-base percentage is .412 and he has played in 160 games.


Walters RL Outstanding Batter of the Month
Saturday, October 1st, 2095: New York first baseman Palmer Walters put the wraps on a fine September by capturing the Republic League Batter of the Month honors today.

He put up a .394 batting average and .477 on-base percentage last month while racking up 6 home runs, 33 RBIs, 30 runs scored and 19 walks.

This season Walters is batting .298 with 50 home runs. His totals include 153 RBIs and 132 runs scored.

September's Best Starter Named in CL
Saturday, October 1st, 2095: The Continental League Pitcher of the Month honor has been given to Derril Knight of Havana for a superlative month.

"I actually never wanted to be a pitcher," Knight told reporters when asked who he credits for his pitching ability. "I was an outfielder until high school and on the third day of tryouts my coach came up and said, 'Son you couldn't hit a lick even if we put it on a tee for ya.' Well, that ticked me off, so I decided if I couldn't hit I wanted to make sure no one else could either and so here I am."

It all turned out for the best as the Havana starter notched a 4-0 record with a 1.24 ERA last month. He made 5 starts and struck out 28 in 36.1 innings.

For the season Knight has compiled a 10-14 record with a 4.28 ERA.


September's Top Starter is García
Saturday, October 1st, 2095: As Sandro García hoisted up the Republic League Pitcher of the Month trophy for September, rumors have already begun to swirl about whether he will leave Las Vegas once his contract is up at the end of the season.

García put pressure on the Wildcats to keep him around by posting a 4-0 record and an ERA of 3.29 over 41 innings last month. He also rolled up 36 strikeouts, increasing his value both to Las Vegas and to every other team in the league.

Checking out his stats for the season, García has notched 9 wins and 15 losses in 32 starts, 6.04 ERA and struck out 138 batters in 181.2 innings.

Saturday, October 1st, 2095: Eustachio Corbucca earned September's Rookie of the Month honors in the Continental League for last month's performance. The boyish Havana shortstop might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Corbucca hit .329 with no home runs, 4 RBIs and 12 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

This year Corbucca is hitting .267, produced 32 RBIs and 0 home runs, scored 53 times and gotten on base at a .349 rate.
