I just took a look at St. Pete and noticed we were 21-7 in May, but we're 10-11 in June. There's someone's opening...

1. They had no pitching. at all. There was no way they were going to able to win with Andrew freakin' Dinsdale as their ace and a kid that couldn't crack the rotation in St. Louis. (Derek Chandler)

2. You wanna know my secret? I scratched my ballpark changes before I made them. I just thought about it and realize that we'd done all of that winning in a 1.000 ballpark, so why go messing with a good thing?

3. Strategy settings. They are REALLY tedious. But I realized the game does some REALLY stupid things like bunt when it shouldn't, etc. I decided to work on when my pitchers get the hook, when the AI does other stuff during the season.

4. I set my own lineups too. But I know a lot of you already do that. I never did before this season. But I had to, with a team of cobbled together talent.

I still don't think we'll win when the dust settles. Texas is coming on strong and we're really just being inflated by one strong month. But I'll take being in the hunt to being in last. I mean, it's not like we had this coming.

Really close races to close the season. It's really been my pitching that let me down in the first half of the season. That and my #4 Tony Hernadez having an off year in the first half. Just have to see how it turns out now.

New York fizzles to a dud in it's new park. Ah well, guess the team isn't well suited to a pitchers park.

Well, as of August we're still sniffing .500.

Glad to see Wakeling and Bond make the All-Star roster. Nice to see Perkins as well: glad he decided to hit for average in addition to some power this season.

So if Colorado does win the RL, do I win points for not only correctly picking the RL winner, but also picking where I would finish in the RL?

So that explains it. St. Pete was kicked in the rear by a Chicago team that everyone else pummeled. Cute, real cute.

Well, this HAS to be the best FOOL season ever! How much more exciting can it get?!

We've got a pennant race in both leagues and it's going to come down to the wire!

We've got a subway battle between the New York clubs in the CL and the RL is a battle between the Republic of Texas and the Rocky Mountain ballclub of Colorado. Who will prevail?!

In any case, I'm about to go eat dinner, so I won't do this sim right now. I've uploaded another stage file for you all to check out, because I'm a team player.

The file is 37.33 MB, but it'll give you everything, so you can see how things are, be frustrated and bite your fingernails at the drama and suspense of what might be coming soon!

But I do intend to finish the season tonight, of course and get up a file for you all, so we can do the FOOL Classic tomorrow night.

The fun has just begun! The file is up, too. Munch on that.

Wow, what a great race. Honored to be a part of it. This is a fantastic season for the league.

I will say when I looked at us at the halfway point, I noticed we were at or near the top of the RL in almost all of the major hitting categories except runs and homeruns (including OPS, OBP, AVG, hits and SBs, and second in SLG--so I didn't get the fifth in runs), and we also had the second best pitching staff, and the top bullpen. And my second best hitter and pitcher each were completely in the dumps from what they would normally do. Figuring on turnarounds and things righting themselves, I knew my team could make a run. But there were a lot of ifs there, and I thought I might be too far behind. Glad I was wrong about that.

Good luck, Huckleberry and DC, however this works out. Winner gets to go kick the CL champ's butt.

Sigh. Vance MacFurgus at age 24 decides to become a 1-star pitcher and lose most of his "Stuff", going from 3.84 to 6+ ERA in one season. Nice. Brian Brown at age 28 decides to become a .5-star pitcher and go from 4.94 to 6.08 on his ERA. Luckily Clay Pierson does okay coming up from AAA a bit early and goes 11-10 with a 4.41 ERA in his rookie season. Had a rough July but turned it around nicely in August. My bullpen is doing phenominal, and SP John MacDonald has a nice 2.91 ERA going, but next season will be all about landing another starting pitcher and hoping the two guys I've got in AAA turn out solid. And maybe finding a second baseman who can play defense.

It's these mid-20s tanks that are killing me right now. Do we have anybody in the league approaching 30 who has any sort of career left?

We really do need to finish strong, though. I want to see at least 70 wins this season and see if we can build on it next season.

Oh yeah, almost forgot that Bruce McDaniel and his 4.5/2-year contract decided to tank to 1-star and hit .235 in Boston after hitting .286 in St. Louis last year. At age 24. Sigh.

Figures. I gotta go. Good luck, everyone. Seems Texas and I are having trouble separating from one another.

BTW, this is the fight to determine if defense matters. COL is one of the worst defensive teams in the league, but is awesome everywhere else. TEX isn't as good as COL in most main areas, but it has by far the best defense in the league.

WInner take all.

Second to last, way to finish strong boys. My star pitchers are having a down year, and my lead off hitter has decided to have another crap season. If things hold true he will do good every other year it seems.

My catcher is actually doing well this year though, woohoo.

Really a tight race down the stretch here. Charleston and Hartford next, and Hartford has been New Yorks bugaboo team.

That is what I am hoping for that I will continue to beat up on two team I have so far this year in Charleston and Baltimore and you will just drop 2 or all 3 of your games against Hartford.

Well no matter what happens this might be the best playoff race we will ever see in the league.

Colorado and Texas split a four game tilt and now will end the year with teams perched near the bottom of the standings.

Texas will play Seattle, who they are 11-8 against this year, while Colorado will play Rio Grande, who they are 10-9 against.

Can the rivals of the Copperheads do them a favor in the form of knocking off the Rancheros in all three games to keep them in the race and give them a shot at the CL pennant? We shall see!

Brooklyn and New York remain tied heading into the last games of the season. Brooklyn swept the Charleston Chew, while New York swept Charleston too, before splitting a 4-game set with Boston. They will finish their season at Hartford, whose dim hopes were hurt after losing three of four to Ann Arbor. Brooklyn will head to Baltimore to end the regular season.

If New York pulls this out they will have earned it, having to beat Hartford to get the job done. Damn that's gonna be tough. Splitting with Boston hurts pretty bad too.

Luis Perez (14-14) threw a 4-hit shutout, striking out seven, walking six in the Boston Settlers (72-80) 3-0 win over the Ann Arbor Wolverines (87-65), eliminating them from whatever slim hopes they had at playoff contention.
