Noblesville's Carlton Winner, CL Best Hitter in April
Monday, May 1st, 2152: Seasoned by several years of professional experience, 26-year-old Dave Carlton put together a solid offensive month for Noblesville and was crowned April's top batter in the Continental League.

He batted .379 with 8 home runs, 19 RBIs and 25 runs scored.


Chico's Suzuki Collects April Batting Honor
Monday, May 1st, 2152: Tatsuzo Suzuki battered Republic League pitchers all April and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Front Office Offseason League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 31-year-old Suzuki told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 23 games, Suzuki hit .407 with 5 home runs, 19 RBIs and scored 14 runs.

Nicholls Gets CL #1 Pitcher Trophy
Monday, May 1st, 2152: Emerson Nicholls was on cloud nine the entire month of April, capping it off with the Continental League Pitcher of the Month honors.

The Apex starter was spectacular in 5 starting assignments with 3 wins and no losses, 39.1 innings pitched, 14 strikeouts and a fine 2.29 ERA.


Romano RL Winner, Top Hurler in April
Monday, May 1st, 2152: Veteran Bartolo Romano put together quite a successful stretch in April for the Hammersmith Hooligans, earning himself the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award.

Romano racked up a 4-0 record in 5 starts, posting a 1.88 ERA over 38.1 innings and striking out 16.

Continental League Names Rookie of Month
Monday, May 1st, 2152: Youngster Soichiro Nishi emerged as the latest Continental League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Brooklyn deserved the honor, batting .292 with 3 home runs and 11 runs batted in. Is the month of April a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Nishi enjoy the limelight.


RL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
Monday, May 1st, 2152: José Acuña was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 24-year-old left fielder definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen April's Republic League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 22 games Acuña batted .313 for Colorado, slapping 26 hits in 83 at-bats with 5 home runs, drove in 16 runs and scored 13 times.

Continental League Announces May's Best Batter
Thursday, June 1st, 2152: Bryan Huff is in the final year of his contract with Brooklyn and today added a timely piece of hardware to his trophy case. Playing in 25 games in May the 35-year-old first baseman ripped Continental League pitchers for a .364 batting average, nabbing him the Batter of the Month award.

He also rang up 10 home runs, 23 RBIs and 16 runs scored.

If Huff keeps up this pace, he'll cost someone a lot of money.

In 2152 Huff has hit at a .329 clip with 54 hits, 15 home runs, 40 RBIs and has scored 28 times.


RL's #1 Batter Chosen
Thursday, June 1st, 2152: The most recent Republic League Batter of the Month trophy was awarded to first baseman Tatsuzo Suzuki of the Chico Rebels.

In May he stood head and shoulders above all other batters by hitting .321 with 8 home runs, 23 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

This year Suzuki is hitting .359 with 13 home runs.

CL Pick for Top Pitcher in May is Oprel
Thursday, June 1st, 2152: Reginald Oprel took a much-deserved turn in the spotlight earlier today as he accepted the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award for May.

The 24-year-old Millers starter is a relative newcomer to the league, but nonetheless racked up an impressive 4-0 won-lost record in 5 starts. This month he fanned 30 batters in 40 innings and compiled a 0.90 ERA.

This year Oprel has gone 7-2 with an ERA of 1.44 and has 55 strikeouts in 75 innings.


Nleto Earns May's Best Pitcher Honor
Thursday, June 1st, 2152: Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Rubén Nleto still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in May. The 29-year-old starter for Toronto was named Republic League Pitcher of the Month earlier today.

He collected 3 wins and no losses with 28 strikeouts in his 5 starts, putting up a fine 1.38 ERA in 32.2 innings of work.

This season-to-date, Nleto has fashioned a 5-0 mark and 1.98 ERA in 63.2 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .231 against him and he has logged 56 strikeouts.

Nishi Gets May's Rookie Trophy
Thursday, June 1st, 2152: Soichiro Nishi earned May's Rookie of the Month honors in the Continental League for last month's performance. The boyish Brooklyn catcher might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Nishi hit .224 with 6 home runs, 13 RBIs and 15 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

This year Nishi has 9 home runs and a .255 batting average.


Premier Rookie Named by RL
Thursday, June 1st, 2152: José Acuña is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Republic League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In May the Colorado hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .286 average with 28 hits, 3 home runs and 18 RBIs.

Acuña is currently hitting at a .298 pace with 8 home runs and 34 RBIs.

Carlton Takes Best Bat Award in June
Saturday, July 1st, 2152: Noblesville Millers 26-year-old third baseman Dave Carlton hit his way to a .367 batting average and the Continental League Batter of the Month award in June.

He had 8 home runs, 19 RBIs and 19 runs scored for the month.

So far this season Carlton is batting .342 with 21 home runs, 56 RBIs and 65 runs scored. He has 110 hits in 322 at-bats, 26 walks and a .397 OBP. Carlton has played in 75 games.


Fernando Guillén Selected June's Best Batter
Saturday, July 1st, 2152: June's Republic League Batter of the Month trophy was claimed by left fielder Fernando Guillén of the Hammersmith Hooligans.

Last month he compiled a .406 batting average with 9 home runs, 29 RBIs, 25 runs scored and a .463 on-base percentage.

Guillén is presently batting .270 with 16 home runs, 42 runs scored and 51 RBIs. His OBP is .306.

Hamada Takes CL Top Starter Trophy
Saturday, July 1st, 2152: Tomiji Hamada's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 4-0 in June, the 27-year-old Noblesville hurler has been named Continental League Pitcher of the Month.

He fanned 26 in 33 innings, logged an ERA of 2.45 and allowed opponents to hit .260 against him.

This season Hamada has compiled a 9-3 mark with a 2.90 ERA.


Marlboros Nleto June's Top Hurler
Saturday, July 1st, 2152: In June when the Toronto manager wrote the name "Nleto" on the lineup card, he knew he had a good shot at winning. Start after start in the month, Rubén Nleto took the hill, took charge and usually got the win.

He dominated with a 5-0 mark and 1.45 ERA in 5 starts. The gifted Marlboros star pitched 37.1 innings, fanned 23 and held opposing teams to a .215 average.

For his outstanding mound performance Nleto was named the RL Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers.

For the year Nleto has compiled a 10-0 record with a 1.78 ERA.

Nishi Top of His Class in June
Saturday, July 1st, 2152: A veritable toddler to the Continental League, Soichiro Nishi just sewed up the Rookie of the Month trophy for June.

Over the past month the 22-year-old catcher for Brooklyn hit .378 with 37 hits, 6 home runs and 22 runs batted in. He also logged 1 walks and compiled a .404 on-base percentage.

So far this season Nishi has hit .296 with 15 home runs, 46 RBIs and and scored 43 times.


Acuña Named Newcomer of the Month
Saturday, July 1st, 2152: José Acuña's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Colorado left fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In June he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award.

During the month he hit .327 with 8 doubles, no triples and 6 home runs. Acuña also scored 16 times and drove in 20 runs.

Flores CL Outstanding Batter of the Month
Tuesday, August 1st, 2152: The hard-hitting right fielder from Noblesville, Jorge Flores, wielded a big bat in July and was hailed as the Continental League Batter of the Month.

He hit a healthy .444 with 9 home runs, 31 RBIs and 15 runs scored.

In 2152 Flores has hit at a .354 clip with 108 hits, 27 home runs, 79 RBIs and has scored 58 times.


Jones Named RL Batter of the Month
Tuesday, August 1st, 2152: The Republic League Batter of the Month has been picked for July and the honor goes to the Los Angeles Bruins Royce Jones.

He compiled a .374 batting average with 34 hits and 3 home runs, along with 15 RBIs and 17 runs scored.

This year Jones is hitting .332 with 13 home runs.

Hamada Nets CL #1 Pitcher Award
Tuesday, August 1st, 2152: Which Continental League hurler dominated in the month of July?
According to the voters who decide the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award, it was Tomiji Hamada of the Noblesville Millers.

He put together a record of 4-0 with an ERA of 1.80 in 5 starting assignments. In addition, he struck out 39 in 35 innings.

In pitching stats this season Hamada has rung up 13 wins and 3 losses in 20 games. He has an ERA of 2.60 and has fanned 116 batters in 128 innings.


RL Announces Best Pitcher for July
Tuesday, August 1st, 2152: Cândido Ricci is the latest Republic League Pitcher of the Month award winner. The Hartford starter shined on the hill time and again last month and finished July with a sparkling 3-0 record.

In 5 starts he tossed 44.2 innings, posted 35 strikeouts, and put up a 1.21 ERA.

Thus far this season Ricci has posted a 8-3 record, started 19 games, struck out 120 batters in 148 innings and compiled a 3.04 ERA.

Soichiro Nishi Captures Rookie of Month
Tuesday, August 1st, 2152: The Continental League Rookie of the Month Award for July goes to Soichiro Nishi, the catcher for Brooklyn. He took the league by storm, hitting .315 and looks like he might just be a legitimate contender for the Benny Myers Rookie of the Year Award.

Nishi tagged 28 hits in 89 at-bats, including 5 home runs, produced 17 RBIs and scored 13 times.

This season Nishi is batting at a .300 clip with 20 home runs and 63 RBIs.


Best Republic League Newcomer Named
Tuesday, August 1st, 2152: The Republic League made the official announcement today. The Rookie of the Month honor went to Dan Higgins of Toronto. He was chosen as the #1 rookie in July.

Last month the 24-year-old Marlboros center fielder played in 25 games and hit .318 with 7 doubles, 1 triple and no home runs. Higgins also scored 13 times and drove in 16 runs.

Higgins on the season is batting .264 with 6 home runs. His totals include 48 RBIs and 46 runs scored. He has played in 97 games.

McCromley Earns August's Top Batter Prize in CL
Friday, September 1st, 2152: The Continental League has given Bill McCromley the Batter of the Month Award.

In August, the Baltimore left fielder starred with a .339 batting average, 6 home runs and 17 RBIs. McCromley also had 19 walks, posted a .446 on-base percentage and scored 27 times.

For the season McCromley has hit .304 with 18 home runs and 66 RBIs. He has played in 128 games and scored 88 times.


Torrez Crowned Top RL Hitter in August
Friday, September 1st, 2152: Ann Arbor catcher Gerardo Torrez was certainly bad news for pitchers in the month of August. He wore them out going 42 for 115 and was rewarded with the Republic League Batter of the Month award.

He hit .365 with 6 home runs, 18 RBIs and scored 22 runs.

This year Torrez has hit at a .286 clip with 75 RBIs, 19 home runs and 72 runs scored.

Ávila Best CL Starter in August
Friday, September 1st, 2152: The Baltimore Gothams owe Adrián Ávila a lot for his performance this past month. One of the league's most dominant starters in August, Ávila tore up the opposition with a fine 5-1 mark on his way to the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

"When you're pitching this well," analyzed Ávila, "it's a lot easier to come to the park. I don't judge my performance by the stats, I judge it -- the team judges it -- by the score of the game. I could say I'm tossing electric stuff right now and that would go over big. But if I toss that same stuff -- exact same pitch selection and location -- and they bang me around tomorrow, I was awful. That's the way baseball is."

It was Ávila who did the banging in August as he tossed up 24 strikeouts in 42.2 innings, holding opponents to a .237 average and posting a 2.74 ERA.

So far this season Ávila has a 11-7 record with a 3.72 ERA.


RL Selects Ricci August's Best Starter
Friday, September 1st, 2152: August's #1 hurler was Cândido Ricci of Hartford. He gunned down Republic League hitters the whole month and claimed the Pitcher of the Month award. The Harpooners star piled up 6 wins and no losses to take the honor.

The 23-year-old Ricci added 38 strikeouts in 48.2 innings and 12 walks to his season record and compiled a 1.66 ERA. Other clubs hit .195 against him.

Up to now Ricci has recorded a record of 14-3. In 25 starts he has fanned 158 batters in 196.2 innings with a 2.70 ERA.

CL Picks Rookie of the Month
Friday, September 1st, 2152: Soichiro Nishi of the Brooklyn Brownstones nabbed the Rookie of the Month honors for August in the Continental League.

Posting a .323 average last month, he collected 32 hits, 7 home runs, 17 RBIs and 16 runs scored.

To date this season Nishi is hitting .305 with 27 home runs.


Rookie Acuña Named Best in August
Friday, September 1st, 2152: Today Colorado's José Acuña was named the Republic League Rookie of the Month for August. He punished RL hurlers hard the entire month, collecting 26 hits in 91 at-bats.

He outdistanced his competition with a .286 batting average, 5 home runs, 10 RBIs and 8 runs scored.

In his season totals Acuña has 22 home runs and a .300 batting average.

Apex's García Top CL Batter in September
Sunday, October 1st, 2152: Octávio García relied on a .413 average to become the Continental League Batter of the Month. He had a good September, going 31 for 75.

He finished with 6 home runs and 18 RBIs, scored 16 runs, and had a .506 on-base percentage.

So far this season García has hit .280 with 17 home runs, 61 RBIs and and scored 59 times.


Gaines Wins Best Bat Award in September
Sunday, October 1st, 2152: Los Angeles first baseman David Gaines put the wraps on a fine September by capturing the Republic League Batter of the Month honors today.

He put up a .453 batting average and .513 on-base percentage last month while racking up no home runs, 15 RBIs, 22 runs scored and 7 walks.

This year Gaines has collected a .331 batting average to date with 215 hits in 650 at-bats, 54 RBIs, 2 home runs and scored 103 times. He has played in 150 games.

Apex's McLannon Chosen September's Best in CL
Sunday, October 1st, 2152: The #1 pitcher this past month in the Continental League was Patrick McLannon of the Apex Assassins. He worked the hitters over real good, finishing September with a superb 4-2 record and a 1.09 ERA.

The Assassins star made 6 starts and surrendered 27 hits in 41.1 innings. He struck out 35 and walked 12.

Thus far this season, McLannon has tossed 199.2 innings in 31 starts, fanned 114 batters, walked 110 and put up a 2.03 ERA with 16 wins and 8 losses.


Kawano Garners RL #1 Pitcher Award
Sunday, October 1st, 2152: Tsutomu Kawano nailed down September's Republic League Pitcher of the Month award today, adding pressure on Colorado to get a deal done before the 27-year-old becomes a free agent.

Kawano seems unfazed by the talk. "We get a deal done or we don't," he told reporters, "I'm not worrying about next year. Worrying about next year isn't what wins awards, you know?"

He fashioned a 4-2 record, reeled off 27 strikeouts, worked 46 innings and held batters to a .198 average for the month as he posted a 1.96 ERA.

In 31 starts this year Kawano has posted 15 wins while suffering 11 losses. He has pitched 218 innings, allowed 221 hits, struck out 135 and has a 3.10 ERA.

#1 Continental League Newcomer Named
Sunday, October 1st, 2152: September was a month Brooklyn catcher Soichiro Nishi is not likely to forget very soon. Not only did he hit .295, he was also named the winner of the Continental League Rookie of the Month award.

He nailed down the honor with a .295 average, 28 hits, 3 home runs, 14 RBIs and 12 runs scored during the month.

In 144 games Nishi is hitting .303 this season with 175 hits, 30 home runs, 94 RBIs, 15 walks, .345 OBP and has scored 84 runs.


Newcomer Honored by Republic League
Sunday, October 1st, 2152: September was a very good month for José Acuña. The left fielder for the Colorado Rancheros was named the best newcomer in the Republic League.

He captured the honor by hitting .280 in 25 games with 26 hits, 6 home runs and 18 RBIs.

Hyde - I've brought this up before. Any way I can potentially change my park from the cartoonish pitchers park it is now? I can't generate any sort of offense because my LHB HR factor is like .695.

Yeah Castillo my SP put up some great numbers but rookie pitchers very seldom win those awards.

Wow, unexpected. I missed out on a few A-level free agents this offseason, so the rebuild was supposed to continue to next season. With the youth we had, i figured that would be best anyway.

I'll take winning the division however, as anytime you make the playoffs, it's awesome. We have 3 excellent starting pitchers, so I'm gonna try a 3 man rotation, which is something I've never done in FOOL. I'm hoping we end up playing enough games to wear them out!
