Continental League Picks April's Best Batter
Sunday, May 1st, 2157: Seasoned by several years of professional experience, 33-year-old Mike Hathaway put together a solid offensive month for Noblesville and was crowned April's top batter in the Continental League.

He batted .416 with 13 home runs, 28 RBIs and 18 runs scored.


RL Top Batter Trophy Won by Larson
Sunday, May 1st, 2157: For a rookie just breaking in, Lyle Larson certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the RL Batter of the Month award for April.

The 24-year-old center fielder for the Hammersmith Hooligans hit .325 with 6 home runs, 16 RBIs and 20 runs scored.

Millers Hurler Named CL's Best Starter
Sunday, May 1st, 2157: Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Reginald Oprel still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in April. The 29-year-old starter for Noblesville was named Continental League Pitcher of the Month earlier today.

He collected 4 wins and no losses with 29 strikeouts in his 6 starts, putting up a fine 1.83 ERA in 44.1 innings of work.


Flynn Cops #1 Pitcher Award in April
Sunday, May 1st, 2157: George Flynn hasn't been around the big leagues long enough to know that youngsters shouldn't be winning Republic League Pitcher of the Month. But when you put up numbers like his, you're going to get some notice.

In April the Toronto starter earned a 4-0 mark in 5 starts. He threw 39 innings, struck out 33 and compiled a solid 1.38 ERA.

Fleming Tabbed CL's Top Rookie
Sunday, May 1st, 2157: First-year man Bryan Fleming really swung a mean bat for the last thirty days in the Continental League and has been picked as the Rookie of the Month.

During the month he hit .214 with 3 doubles, no triples and 4 home runs. Fleming also scored 9 times and drove in 14 runs.


RL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
Sunday, May 1st, 2157: A veritable toddler to the Republic League, Lyle Larson just sewed up the Rookie of the Month trophy for April.

Over the past month the 24-year-old center fielder for Hammersmith hit .325 with 37 hits, 6 home runs and 16 RBI. He also logged 11 walks and compiled a .398 on-base percentage.

Dean Claims CL Batter of the Month Award
Wednesday, June 1st, 2157: Dave Dean battered Continental League pitchers all May and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Front Office Offseason League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 29-year-old Dean told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 25 games, Dean hit .359 with 9 home runs, 29 RBIs and scored 17 runs.

Dean is presently batting .311 with 12 home runs, 28 runs scored and 40 RBIs. His OBP is .363.


RL's Best Batter Selected
Wednesday, June 1st, 2157: May was a good month for Tom Moyer. The Toronto second baseman had his way with opposing pitchers all month while posting a .415 batting average and was selected as the Republic League Batter of the Month.

Last month Moyer put up some solid numbers: no home runs, 15 RBIs, 20 runs scored and a .452 on-base percentage.

Moyer is hitting .392 this season with no home runs, 21 RBIs and 33 runs scored. He has 76 hits in 194 at-bats.

Continental League #1 Hurler is Gingras
Wednesday, June 1st, 2157: Gilbert Gingras's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 5-0 in May, the 28-year-old Baltimore hurler has been named Continental League Pitcher of the Month.

He fanned 28 in 38 innings, logged an ERA of 1.89 and allowed opponents to hit .164 against him.

This year Gingras has made 11 starts, thrown 72.1 innings, fanned 60 batters and walked 16. His won-lost record is 8-2 with a 1.74 ERA.


RL Announces May's Best Starter
Wednesday, June 1st, 2157: Whether Motoki Kondo stays in Colorado beyond this season remains to be seen, but while he's here he's making the most of it. In May the 33-year-old certainly pulled out all the stops by winning the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award.

He put up some fancy numbers with a 4-0 record and and an ERA of 1.26. In 35.2 innings he struck out 17, surrendered 31 hits, 7 walks and proved to be a solid performer in 5 starts last month.

This season Kondo has crafted a 6-1 mark with a 2.16 ERA in 75 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .251 against him and he has 39 strikeouts.

Continental League Names Rookie of Month
Wednesday, June 1st, 2157: Jorge Hernández was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 23-year-old left fielder definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen May's Continental League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 23 games Hernández batted .414 for Noblesville, slapping 29 hits in 70 at-bats with 6 home runs, drove in 17 runs and scored 13 times.

During the current season Hernández is batting at a .328 clip with 8 home runs and 27 RBIs. He has played in 49 games and scored 18 times.


Premier Rookie Named by RL
Wednesday, June 1st, 2157: Víctor Moreno is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Republic League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In May the Chico hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .248 average with 26 hits, 7 home runs and 16 RBIs.

For the year Moreno has hit .221 with 9 home runs, 22 RBIs and scored 25 runs.

Álvarez Wins CL's Best Bat Award
Friday, July 1st, 2157: To survive in the bigs, you've got to be a scrapper like José Álvarez. It never pays to take a day off from the batting cages or to shrug off the advice of the hitting coach. It all paid off today as Brooklyn's right fielder pinned down the Continental League Batter of the Month trophy today.

He hit .376 in June collecting 13 home runs, 35 RBIs and 31 runs scored.

Álvarez is hitting .344 for the season with 27 home runs, 73 RBIs and 59 runs scored. He has 101 hits in 294 at-bats and played in 78 games.


Moreno Takes Best Bat Award in June
Friday, July 1st, 2157: The hard-hitting right fielder from Chico, Víctor Moreno, wielded a big bat in June and was hailed as the Republic League Batter of the Month.

He hit a healthy .314 with 7 home runs, 20 RBIs and 25 runs scored.

Presently Moreno is batting .257 with 16 home runs and 42 RBIs. He has played in 78 games and scored 50 times.

CL Selects Villa June's Best Pitcher
Friday, July 1st, 2157: Veteran Francisco Villa put together quite a successful stretch in June for the Apex Assassins, earning himself the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

Villa racked up a 3-1 record in 5 starts, posting a 0.96 ERA over 37.2 innings and striking out 30.

This year Villa has a 6-4 record with a 3.05 ERA.


Pitcher of the Month Named in RL
Friday, July 1st, 2157: The Toronto Marlboros felt very secure when they sent George Flynn out to the hill last month. The 24-year-old starter went after Republic League hitters with a vengeance and earned June's Pitcher of the Month award.

He went 4-1 with a 2.18 ERA as he struck out 34 in 45.1 innings over 6 starts.

Thus far this season, Flynn has worked 115.2 innings with 91 strikeouts en route to a 10-2 record and a 2.49 ERA.

Hernández Voted June's #1 Newcomer
Friday, July 1st, 2157: Youngster Jorge Hernández emerged as the latest Continental League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Noblesville deserved the honor, batting .338 with 6 home runs and 13 runs batted in. Is the month of June a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Hernández enjoy the limelight.

Currently Hernández has 14 home runs and a .332 batting average.


Moreno Gets June's Rookie Trophy
Friday, July 1st, 2157: Víctor Moreno earned June's Rookie of the Month honors in the Republic League for last month's performance. The boyish Chico right fielder might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Moreno hit .314 with 7 home runs, 20 RBIs and 25 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

Presently Moreno is batting .257 and has collected 16 home runs, 42 RBIs, .333 OBP and scored 50 runs.

Torrid July Gets Flores CL #1 Batter Trophy
Monday, August 1st, 2157: Jorge Flores let his bat do the talking in July and the Continental League heard him loud and clear. He made plenty of noise as he put together a .409 batting average and was named the top hitter of the month.

Flores's month to remember saw him accumulate 36 hits, 7 home runs, 22 RBI, 25 runs, 9 walks and a .470 on-base percentage.

Flores is hitting .306 this year with 20 home runs and 65 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .396, 48 walks and scored 67 times.


Pan Wins RL's Best Bat Trophy
Monday, August 1st, 2157: July's Batter of the Month has been announced by the Republic League. This month's trophy was presented to the Toronto third baseman, Tze-meng Pan.

He starred by hitting .451 with a .526 on-base percentage, totaled 37 hits in 82 at-bats, 3 home runs, 18 RBIs and scored 20 runs.

Currently Pan is batting .349 with 4 home runs and 38 RBIs.

Gingras Wins CL Top Pitcher Award
Monday, August 1st, 2157: July's top-rated pitcher was Gilbert Gingras of Baltimore Gothams. He demoralized Continental League hitters in posting a 5-0 record and captured the Pitcher of the Month award.

In 5 starts, Gingras limited opposing batters to a .239 average. He rang up 29 strikeouts in 36.1 innings of work, issued 4 walks, and crafted a 2.48 ERA.

This season Gingras has gone 15-2 with an ERA of 1.77, posting 115 strikeouts in 137 innings.


RL Selects Miles July's Best Starter
Monday, August 1st, 2157: Allen Miles of Los Angeles had an award-winning July as he took home the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award.

"He told me once people used to make fun of the way he pitches," Miles's pitching coach told reporters. "There wasn't anybody laughing in July except for Allen."

Miles was all business when he took the mound though, collecting a 3-0 record in 5 starts. He struck out 22 batters in 36.1 innings and kept opponents to a .177 batting average.

Checking out his stats for the season, Miles has notched 8 wins and 8 losses in 20 starts, 5.03 ERA and struck out 80 batters in 116.1 innings.

Big Month for CL Rookie
Monday, August 1st, 2157: Jorge Hernández's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Noblesville right fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In July he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award.

During the month he hit .355 with 4 doubles, no triples and 9 home runs. Hernández also scored 14 times and drove in 21 runs.

In his season totals Hernández has 23 home runs and a .337 batting average.


Best RL Rookie Named, Nod to Larson
Monday, August 1st, 2157: It might be just his first year in the league, but Lyle Larson is playing like he's been here before. The Hammersmith center fielder rang up some lofty numbers in the last 30 days and snagged the Republic League Rookie of the Month Award.

In July he hit .295 with 5 home runs and 28 hits. He walked 16 times and compiled a .407 on-base percentage, scored 18 times and drove in 13.

So far this season Larson has gotten 121 hits in 409 at-bats for a .296 batting average with 15 home runs. His stats include 43 RBIs and 69 runs scored. He has played in 99 games.

Noblesville First Baseman CL's Best Batter in August
Thursday, September 1st, 2157: When guys like Noblesville's Mike Hathaway win Batter of the Month awards, it just makes you feel good. In a productive August, the longtime Continental League veteran toyed with opposing pitchers all month long, collecting 36 hits in 106 at-bats.

The veteran first baseman hit for a .340 batting average and collected 8 home runs, 25 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

So far this year in 120 games Hathaway is hitting .327 with 41 home runs, 103 RBIs and 82 runs scored.


RL Choice for Batter of the Month is Spencer
Thursday, September 1st, 2157: Hammersmith second baseman Bobby Spencer was certainly bad news for pitchers in the month of August. He wore them out going 37 for 93 and was rewarded with the Republic League Batter of the Month award.

He hit .398 with 4 home runs, 23 RBIs and scored 16 runs.

This season Spencer is hitting .305 with 16 home runs.

Millers Castillo Named CL's Best Pitcher
Thursday, September 1st, 2157: Héctor Castillo nailed down August's Continental League Pitcher of the Month award today, adding pressure on Noblesville to get a deal done before the 29-year-old becomes a free agent.

Castillo seems unfazed by the talk. "We get a deal done or we don't," he told reporters, "I'm not worrying about next year. Worrying about next year isn't what wins awards, you know?"

He fashioned a 5-1 record, reeled off 21 strikeouts, worked 39.1 innings and held batters to a .218 average for the month as he posted a 2.29 ERA.

In 26 starts this season Castillo has chalked up a 13-8 record and a 4.41 ERA.


García Premier Pitcher in August
Thursday, September 1st, 2157: Esteban García had an outstanding August -- so good that the Republic League presented him with the Pitcher of the Month Award earlier today.

"There's no way to know where the Hooligans would be without García," one fan is quoted as saying.

In August García dominated the competition, running up a 6-0 record, a 1.83 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 44.1 innings.

This season to date García has a record of 12 wins and 10 losses with a 3.72 ERA, has appeared in 26 games and struck out 51 in 174 innings.

Hernández Named Newcomer of the Month
Thursday, September 1st, 2157: In August, Jorge Hernández piled up some solid numbers and walked off with the Rookie of the Month award in the Continental League.

Last month the 23-year-old Noblesville right fielder played in 27 games and hit .302 with 5 doubles, no triples and 6 home runs. Hernández also scored 15 times and drove in 23 runs.

Hernández has a .329 average and a .404 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 117 hits, 29 home runs and driven in 84 runs.


Hammersmith Newcomer August's Best Rookie
Thursday, September 1st, 2157: In August, Hammersmith third baseman Hollis Stedman snared the Republic League Rookie of the Month award.

In 29 games he hit .331, collecting 40 hits, 1 home run, 18 RBIs and 22 runs scored. He also chalked up 13 walks and a .399 OBP.

So far this year Stedman has 5 home runs and a .300 batting average.

Brooklyn's Daniels Acclaimed Best CL Hitter
Saturday, October 1st, 2157: Harvey Daniels really smoked the ball in September on his way to Batter of the Month honors in the Continental League.

The Brooklyn third baseman hit .409 with 6 home runs, 16 RBIs and 14 runs scored to round out his great month.

This year Daniels is hitting .281, produced 80 RBIs and 29 home runs, scored 66 times and gotten on base at a .378 rate.


Miller Crowned Top RL Hitter in September
Saturday, October 1st, 2157: Free agent-to-be Cole Miller has inflated his asking price over the past 30 days by winning the Republic League Batter of the Month.

In September, the 31-year-old Colorado left fielder hit .365 with 9 home runs and 22 RBIs.

If he keeps putting numbers like that up, he could be hauling in a big wad of cash at this time next year.

For the year Miller is batting .289 with 23 home runs, 73 RBIs and 83 runs scored.

LaRose Picked as September's Pitcher of the Month
Saturday, October 1st, 2157: Maurice LaRose of Noblesville had an outstanding September with a 5-0 mark and was chosen the Pitcher of the Month in the Continental League.

He topped off the month with a 0.47 ERA in 5 starts, tossed 38.1 innings, fanned 35 and held opposing teams to a .180 average.

This season LaRose has a 18-7 mark in 31 starts with a 3.15 ERA. He has given up 165 hits in 188.1 innings, struck out 171 and issued 70 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .235 batting average against him.


September's Top Hurler is Moore
Saturday, October 1st, 2157: The best pitcher this past month in the Republic League was Tanner Moore of the Los Angeles Bruins. He really razzle-dazzled league hitters, finishing September with a standout 4-0 record and 3.38 ERA.

The Bruins hurler made 5 starts and surrendered 41 hits in 37.1 innings. He struck out 30 and walked 2.

In the current season in 31 starts, Tanner Moore has a record of 13-12 with 153 strikeouts in 223.1 innings and a 3.83 ERA.

Orson Voted CL's #1 Rookie
Saturday, October 1st, 2157: Kyle Orson was selected as the Continental League Rookie of the Month for the excellent performance he put together last month.

In September the 24-year-old left fielder for Napa Valley hit .306 with 19 hits, 2 home runs and 5 RBIs. He posted an OBP of .386 and played in 17 games.

For the season Orson is currently batting .297 with 12 home runs and 44 RBIs. In 121 games he has reached base at a .355 rate and scored 71 runs to date.


Rookie Rapper Reaps RL Honors
Saturday, October 1st, 2157: The batter wants to "hit 'em where they ain't." And that is just what Víctor Moreno did all month long to net the Republic League Rookie of the Month Award.

In September he slapped 25 hits in 99 at-bats for a .253 batting average. Moreno also racked up 8 home runs, 13 RBIs, and 20 runs scored.

In 150 games this year Moreno has posted a .268 average and put up these numbers: 36 home runs, 85 RBIs and 107 runs scored.
