CW's New Job Thread
So, I went in Thursday to get brought up to speed by the guy I'm replacing.
I arrived at 10am. Including an hour or so lunch, I was gone by 2pm, having gone over everything this guy does. It's, to put it mildly, one cushy position. There's about 8 client websites that require a content change every once in a blue moon. There's a monthy usage report to one client. There are 2 servers to keep running. There are occaisonal employees having computer difficulty to deal with. That's...it. |

Sounds like you'll be doing some creative work to "properly" bill your hours if your responsibilities are that small. Either that or you took the bait on a bad job that's gonna hit you like an anvil a few days after you start.

i vote for the bad job anvil scenario. not cuz i want it to be true, it just seems more likely that's all.

The story I got was he wanted to write more code. This isn't a very hardcore code-writing job. There's a push to get me to be able to deal with new clients as the 'geek with communication skills', something this guy did not want to do.
The story does fit. Guy had the personality of a rock. |

CW are you going to keep contracting on the side, or does this position restrict you from doing so?

I will if I so choose. I won't particularly need the money, but there's a few local clients I'll keep in touch with, and I always listen to side project stuff. Those are usually the most fun. |

Welp, day 1 of work.
Two 5-minute content changes, and an account exec from PCMall called me to introduce himself. And I told someone in the office to reboot their computer. That's been my day so far. |

They might be sisters, I'm not sure. I just have trouble believing she's old enough to have a daughter in her mid-late teens. Both are exceedingly hot.

This could quickly turn into a CW's Old Job thread, take 2.

Day two. I'm out smoking a cigarette, some lady pulls up, in a very thin white blouse, and a distinct lack of bra.
Yay nipples! |

this thread is awesome.
I just relocated to nashville from atlanta for a new job back in Feb, and found out last week we are getting bought out. nice. So out house still hasnt sold in Atlanta, and now the job situation could get iffy the next few months. good stuff. maybe i should have stayed at the weather channel Actually, we like Nashville too much to fall back to Atl..hopefully there are some more good java programming jobs here, in case they decide to let us go later in the year.

I've generally avoided the generalized notions of some cities or regions in this country having more attractive women than others, and I'm aware that what parts of town you happen to spend most of your time in influence this perception, but damn - Chicago has a lot of very attractive women! |

I'm comparing what I've seen so far in Chicago to what I've seen for the last 35 years in Seattle. Maybe it's a case of the grass is greener syndrome, but it sure seems like the percentage of attractive women here is greater than it is back in Seattle... |

No, I meant he wasn't living in the Chicago area for the past 2.5 years. I believe he was out in the sticks somewhere. I think it depends on what you find attractive. There are a lot of cute outdoorsy types in Seattle, but not as many stunners as say, San Francisco. Last edited by Desnudo : 05-10-2005 at 04:22 PM. |

I got that part. I was just adding some confirmation that, at least from my perscpective, he's not imagining things by seeing a lot of hotties in Chicago. Quote:
That's definitely true - Seattle attracts more outdoorsy/granola types than most other places. Some of them can be very attractive, but a lot aren't (not so much because of apparrel or grooming habits, but they're simply not very pretty). Part of my observation on Chicago women is based on breasts - a greater percentage here possess nicely sized/shaped ones than I'm used to seeing in Seattle. The other thing that may be a factor is just the normal impression one gets this time of year as the weather improves and the clothes change that there are suddenly more attractive women walking around. |

Eh. There's certainly a ton of good-looking women, but so many of them are fake-looking that it lessens the interest for me. I'm not so much into the heavily-tanned, plastic-surgery and fake tits thing that's so common in SoCal. Even worse (to me) is Miami - they really go overboard on the fake tits. Maybe they're trying to hard to compete with the cuban girls with the naturally large breasts... |

A girlfriend of mine grew up in Miami and talked a lot about how it was tough to compete with all the curvy cuban girls and other latinas she went to school with, so that's where I'm getting that info. I dunno how true it is, but I do know when I visited Miami there was no shortage of surgically enhanced women walking around...
