Important - WYSIWYG Message Editor

If you want to use the WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor, go to your Control Panel (User CP at the top of the screen).

Select "Edit Options" and then scroll down to the bottom of the page to Miscellaneous Options. For "Message Editor Interface", select Enhanced Interface.

I would advise everyone to at least give it a try.

When I last tried to paste some pretty simple text into a dynasty thread update, I got a very weird-looking post -- my text was dark black (on a gray background, in my sideline view) and the formatting doesn't seem to have worked correctly. I didn't do anything different than what I did with the old version of VB... but I did follow the instructions from this thread to activate the WYSIWYG editor.

Is that the root of my problem?

I tried again, after turning off the WYSIWIG, and the post worked just fine.

FYI

I tried the What You See Is What You Get, but What I Saw Was Not What I Got.

I went back to the old way as well, and everything seems to be working fine now.

So far it's working for me, but I haven't tried any real formatting (just bold, italic and size changes).

I noticed that when I copy and paste from Word, some weird kind of msoffice tags were included with the message. It wouldn't let me post because of the too many images error (and I couldn't delete them either). The way I got around it was to paste to just a normal text file, and then to paste from the text file into the dynasty. Not sure if that's related, but it might be a work around if you want to use the WYSIWYG editor as well.

I'm seeing a fair number of people's posts that are showing up in black text, which is nearly unreadable in the Sideline view (which I use). I'm guessing that the WYSIWYG editor is behidn this, but I've set it aside, so I am unsure.

Can you post a link to a post with black text so I can take a look at it?

Might be something with the style sheets, I remember I had a similar problem when I first started my dynasty concerning unreadable text (in that case, I wasn't overriding the white text and it was being placed in a light-blue background).

Interesting. For me (using the vbulletin 3 style) Easy Mac's post show up like a regular post. However, in the second post in the thread somebody quotes Easy and the quote shows up yellow. However, other quotes by other posters are displayed normally.

Methinks SkyDog might have Easy on double secret probation???

And when GoSeahawks quotes him it comes out yellow. Interesting...

I assume the problem is related to the fact that Easy is using a different font. I would guess he has also managed to specify the color.

That would make the text color black over all the templates, rather than the default color.

EDIT - After a little testing I can confirm that Easy Mac must have set the color to black. If you don't select any color, the test will be shown in the default color for that template, but if you choose a color it will be shown in that color over all the templates, like this (highlight text if you are using a dark style)
