Fake Tickets on StubHub

Has anyone heard about this? I had a friend who had an issue with it recently and although they got a refund, they missed out on the show because it was sold out. Had kids and everything with them.

I figured all their stuff was verified somehow.

Never had an issue.

My understanding is that their stuff is all guaranteed but necessarily verified. If your tickets turns out to be fake they try to work directly with the arena to get you seats, but can't guarantee it.

Did your friend call the hotline number from the event?

Yeah, it was sold out though and nothing they could do. I had just never heard of something like that happening before. Makes me a little nervous.

I generally try and find email only tickets to places to avoid this very issue

I've never had an issue with StubHub, although I haven't used 'em in a couple years now.

If there's a way to scam something, some asshole will always find it.

I haven't seen fake tickets, but I did get hacked and they bought $5,000 worth of NBA tickets in a couple of hours. It was about 3 am and Stubhub figured it out and locked my account and reversed all the charges. Makes me wonder if those tickets were sold to people that then couldn't get into a show because Stubhub invalidates the ticket number/barcode.
