Saw the first episode. It's like the type of shows History Channel used to show, with perhaps more dramatic scenes. And like the shows they used to make for History Channel, there's been hardly any effort to maintain historical accuracy in the dramatic scenes.

The Mythbusters not named Adam or Jamie will have a new Netflix series named "White Rabbit Project" that will use science to show how strange inventions and happenings in history took place.

Netflix's 'White Rabbit Project' looks like 'Mythbusters 2.0'

This is a really good, really dark drama.

3 seasons. We are finishing season 2.

Let me recommend The Fall as well. 3 short seasons, but very well written and acted. Somewhat disappointing that the whole series has been based around the same case, but it still draws you in very well. I will say that if I had just watched season 1 and had to wait a year for season 2, I would have been pissed.

Another I stumbled on: Versailles The story of Louis XIV and the building the palace of the Sun. Lots of court intrigue (and lots of sex), but has great The Tudors feel. It is very interestingly created for French television by Canal, BBC, Canadian Superstation and some American cable network I've never hear of, but using largely British actors, and all in English.

I am powering through the 2 seasons. It is awesome.

I just watched this again. What a great comedy. One of the better ones i have watched.

Rectify finished up it's final season (4) on Sundance. It's a great show. Netflix has first 3 seasons up and I highly recommend it. Season 4 will probably pop up in the near future too.

I got through half of the new Netflix original series Travelers and so far it's 1.5 thumbs up.

Scifi with a Fringe/Quantum Leap kind of feel.

Watched the first 2 eps of The OA and I'm hooked! It kind of hard to describe, but there is a major mystery throughout, but includes an element of fantasy, while being weird, without being 'too weird'. It's great!

I love this show. I haven't watched the 4th season yet. I have all the episodes sitting on my DVR, but I think I might hold off and wait until it's on Netflix so I can watch it in HD.

I watched 3 episodes of the OA on New Year's Day and wasn't feeling it. Does not seem like a smart enough show to justify some of the more artsy/pretentious stuff I saw (ooh, I wonder if there's going to be any symbolism in naming the main character's friend Homer?!) and on the flip side it wasn't mindlessly entertaining enough to inspire me to power through the remaining hours to see if anything really ended up happening.

Fiance watched this over the holidays. Way too artsy for me. She enjoyed it until the last episode which completely ruined everything as far as she was concerned.

I watched the ending with her and I don't know what to say.

Yeah, I ended up telling the person I watched it with to go ahead and watch the rest without me and let me know whether it was worth it. Last night got a resounding 'no' as a result of the finale as well.

Finished The OA and really, really enjoyed it! I can see where some folks may have disliked the finale, especially the last 15 minutes. There was a major scene that was really cheesy (though may be the point) and then at the end I was like Whaaaa... until my girlfriend pointed out something that I had totally missed and then I rewound and it made a million times more sense to me (has to do with a sound that references something way early in the series - I can see it being easily missed if you don't watch the show in a few sittings).

Definitely worth watching and bingeing.

2 episodes left to finish the 3%. I've enjoyed the show. Some nice twists. Usually not a huge fan of shows like this, but I think this one is pretty good. Good enough I'd watch a season 2. Should finish off the last two episodes tonight.

I watched it. I thought it was horrible. The kid was annoying and there was nothing scary about it. Maybe if I approached it from something other than a horror movie it would work better, but wow it was a waste of my time. 1/10.

I did start watching Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia and I love it. I only finished the short season 1 and I heard it gets a lot better. I read it described as Seinfeld on heroine and I get that.

Aw, that's too bad.
I went into it thinking it was a standard horror flick as well and expected 'low budget horror', but soon realized it wasn't that and I think that is what made it more enjoyable for me. Especially after I read up on it after I watched it. Much more a a mess with your mind than horror.

Agree on the boy being annoying though.

If you like docudramas, Roman Empire: Reign of Blood isn't bad. I'm a sucker for any kind of Roman stuff so I watched. Tells the story of Commodus which is a rather remarkable one. It's only 6 episodes so you can get through it pretty quick.

Noticed Frontier is up. Was kind of interested but wondering if it's worthwhile? Also has anyone seen Medici? Frank Spotnitz is behind it and I loved Man in the High Castle so it peaked my interest.

Travelers was ok, but not great.

Started well, good idea, but got in a bit of a rut of sameish-ness. Season 1 ended with a huge cliff-hanger ending promising a season 2, no real closure.

yeah this is my second attempt at making it all the way through the series. I really like season 7. Season 8 started out okay. I didn't like Robert California last time but I've gotten to love his strange narcissistic cadence. However the addition of Nellie makes no sense and took so much away from the show. I liked that they finally found a good spot for Andy. At first he just seemed obnoxious and a troll to Jim., Then he was good as a competitor for Dwight over Angela. BUt all the while he was always like being "another Michael". And then the competition with Gabe over Erin was pretty funny. BUt I hate ERin. Her stupidity just isn't funny. And episodes in 8 featuring the two are embarassingly bad. Andy by then had become an oaf of a character and the writers seemed to try to do as many bad things to him as possible. Much in the same way certain frasier episodes would have frasier fail as badly as he could. And the Nellie addition and what it did to Andy really continued that. That as well, Nellie was the third time we see the old gag of someone coming in, deciding they wanted to be a job and suddenly they were. At least when Pam did it for Office Manager it was funny seeing her get so frustrated with sales that she manipulated everyone and Gabe to declare her new position. THe Deus Ex Machina of Robert "talking Jo out of her job as CEO" was as ridiculous as how it happened (Jim just telling us). So by the time Nellie does it to Andy...it's just mean. And what's more Mellie takes away from the actual funniness of the rest of the ensemble which actually could have gotten more feature stories instead.

Season 9...we'll see if it gets better. But with Tate still there and the introduction of yet 2 MORE employees...I dunno. So glad to see David Wallace back tho. Love him.

I know it´s been on a while but only got around to watch it recently, ranged from "well, ok" to pretty cringeworthy in my eyes. Really uneven even within episodes with some cool stuff but super forced and awkward presentation trying desperately to be hip/cool ...

I really liked the first 5 or 6 episodes of Designated Survivor, got a little too convoluted in later episodes (though still had really strong stuff, f.e. the Whistleblower-thing was great). Still looking forward to new episodes.

Also loved Hip Hop Evolution. Well researched and narrated, some genuinely great interviews. Might be different for actual experts, as is usually the case with documentaries, but as someone who knew a little bit about pre-modern HipHop (takes up some decent storage space on my mp3 player and read the odd book or took a random wikipedia-tour) it still added a ton of insight and introduced quite a few lesser-known artists and trivia.

I know it seems like Netflix is 75% originals right now, but I'll give a shout out to a really good psychological thriller I watched last night:

Sun Choke - 8/10

Hey, it's Millie from "Freaks and Geeks"! Only she's totally fucking unhinged, and it's not entirely clear why. The first half is a bit of a dive into her treatment and her psychosis, while the last half is the consequence of either trying, or not trying hard enough, to keep that psychosis in check. Sarah Hagan's performance is outstanding, even as the material lets her down (the last half hour especially)... this film does a nice job of keeping her character mysterious, but it's just a little TOO mysterious. If you are a fan of thriller movies making you "uncomfortable", this one fits the bill far better than expected. Also recommended if you want to see Millie unhinged, because it's quite something to see.

I wrote about it above. Love the show. I still didn't finish it (I think I'm at episode 7) I planned on binging it, but the last two weeks have been kind of crazy.

I think it is going to be a show where people either really like it a lot or people really hate it a lot. I don't see a lot of "meh" with that show. I really like it. Good writing. It knows what it is and doesn't try to pretend it is anything else.
