an actual FOF4 question
maybe my first one here...
playing a little FOF4 today - used a real 2003 roster set and a real 2003 draft set. everything started out ok, but when I got finished free agency, everyone on my team had attributes of a tackle. tried again and the same thing happened. tried again, and players last names were not showing up in free agency. does this sound like a corrupted player/draft file, or is this a manifestation of the copy protection scheme (first time I've noticed a problem).

If it is FOF4, and not FOF2004, then that definitely sounds like copy protection system.

Indeed, the thing with the copy protection is that it takes a while for it to kick in. I had mine do a simiar thing towards the end of my second year. Frustrating as hell. Makes you look at that little slip of paper for 10 minutes the next time...triple-checking each number you enter.

well, I reinstalled the game very carefully, and I'm still having problems.
it seems that it's Nilidor's 2003 draft file that is causing it - everything is fine until I import the 2003 draft file, and then all the trouble starts (when I preview the draft, everyone is a cornerback). if I don't import the draft, nothing bad happens. I know I've used this file before successfully. what could I be doing wrong here???

have you installed any patches for the game yet? Is there another file you could try?

I know this is a tedious question... but you did use the proper case (all lower case, as I recall) when entering your registration information, right? And you didn't possible make any errors with things like "1" versus "l" and the like? If so, fine. But there are plenty of people who have made that exact mistake, and then gotten pissed off at the game for devolving like this. Your error really dos sound like a copy protection problem to me. My best guess otherwise is to contact Jim at his support email address -- perhaps there was an error of some sort when he printed the registration code. |
