Sorry, I'm boycotting them this year.

Same as every year for at least a couple of decades.

And my rooting interest in the night is kind of done with the Best Adapted Screenplay category.

Supporting actor is probably the best shot at an upset.

If you like Nate Silver type stuff, follow this guy on Twitter. He has a model for predicting each category and was 8/8 to start:

am puzzled by that. scifi NEVER wins THAT MUCH. one would expect revenant and martian to win all the tech awards except makeup and sound and visual.

It's been on cable, so I watched it a few days ago. Didn't much like it, but it was quite a visual achievement. I especially appreciated that complex action sequences could be filmed without shaky-cam. The story itself was some sort of dystopian twist on Scooby's Laff-A-Lympics.

The Rock thing had me tempted to watch, because he's ridden the line of funny and edgy so well for so long, but have long-term trauma related to forced watching of the Oscars for so many years. It would seem wrong to start again now.

don't you mean CHRIS rock and not THE rock? hahaha

he's actually pretty darn funny if not beating a concept into the dirt. Surprised they are letting him bash the oscars so much.

Kind of a boring Oscars. Wish they'd focus more on the movies and less on the politics.

Didn't realize fake journalist Scott Templeton from the Wire s5 was nominated for Best Director and won for best original screenplay.

Felt like The Big Short really got jobbed here. Adam McKay made an excellent picture out of super confusing source material and made it so accessible. It deserved more than just a screenplay Oscar.

I thought there were a lot of movies that whlie not award worthy, deserved some recognition. Sicario, Ex Machina, and even the big budget movies like Jurassic World and Star Wars. Just seems weird that almost nothing is mentioned about those movies. I guess it's tough when the movie awards show isn't really about movies.

Also I'm for Louis CK hosting next year. He was the funniest part of the show.

Ex Machina did win an oscar, Sicario had two or three nominations, as did star wars. Jurassic World probably was holding court over at the Razzies.

I'm pretty happy for Leo to get his Oscar. I think he's the best actor of his generation, and have been a big fan for years. Also happy for Brie Larson, who moved me with her Room performance.

Mark Rylance was excellent in Bridge of Spies. Supporting actor was packed this year. I was hoping Michael Shannon, Jacob Tremblay, Michael B Jordan, Paul Dano and John Cusack would net nominations. Yes, that's 5 hopefuls and i have no complaints from the nominees. Just shows how good that category was this year.

Still on my banned list since they refuse to over turn their decision of Shakespeare in Love over Saving Private Ryan. Savages, all of them!

I keep getting "Brie Larson" confused with "Bree Olson."

I have to see Spotlight at some point. Am glad Mad Max got so many technical awards - it was my favorite movie of the year.

Glad Spotlight won, thought it was heads and above a field that otherwise was pretty lackluster. Room is the only film on my watch list that I haven't seen yet but the last few days have made it seem like it's something worth going out of my way to see.

Hear, hear. That alone made it one of the best films in recent history, for me.

It's worth it. I think I said in our movie review thread that I figured it was going to be good (Spotlight), but it was even better than I was expecting.

An award for the comic book adaptions and/or star wars films?
